Nice, uhm, poll you've made there.
So many options...
Leave me alone!!!
You got here quick
2.5 man sounds great to me. I'll be there on launch day.
Too bad you asses'll get it first. :(
Price point is fine, I just need info on games for the lauch.
I'll pick one up eventually, when there's a better selection of games, the price drops a little, my pile of shame is no more, and I have something other than 13" screens to play it on.
It comes with a game so I don't mind spending 250.
If Wii Sports ends up being awesome it'll be money well spent, if not I'll just sell it and cut my losses.
I should be in line day one. I would have spent about $800 two nights before on a PS3 and a few extra goodies, though, so I may not be well-equipped to be dropping another $300. PS3 is of higher priority to me, regardless of logic telling me otherwise.
Sell it to whom, may I ask?
I honestly was Day One on this previously, now though Im not too sure. I mean I guess its a plus for being able to buy Zelda a month earlier (wow, way to screw Gamecube owners in the ass one last time Nintendo), but thats going to be all I get for this until 1st quarter of next year, especially with Metroid getting pushed back. I mean Im sure Zelda will keep me busy, and it may have some decent stuff on the VC, so that may be enough for me to get it on launch.
My option isn't there. I don't see any games at launch that I want, and will wait until there's some good ones to make a decision.
The price point is great and the launch games are looking awesome, so I'll pick up the Wii on day one...even if its just to play the new Super Monkey Ball :)
The price is fine and a big thanks to Nintendo for putting a pack-in game back in system launches. I always hated not getting a game with the system and I was going to buy Wii Sports anyway.
I will most likely cop day one and snatch Zelda, Monkey Ball and another Wii-mote (or three) for the GF/friends.
None of those choices fit me exactly, so I picked "depends on the launch games." The launch titles are already known though, so they are in fact the reason I am likely not buying one this year.
I'm in.
System, Zelda, Trauma Center, and Rayman (god I love those rabbids *aaaaaaaaaahhhhh*)...I'm set.
day one.
I'll think about it whenever Mario Galaxy and Smash Bros are out
honestly, if money is there ... day 1. If not probably a week or so after.
That poll entry is a smear.
Like the GameCube, Ill buy it when I can get it for $75 with a free game.
I haven't played all that many games in the past couple of years and I am fiending for Zelda. Day one, but it's going to be tight.
I can't turn down a Zelda game, day one.
Trauma Center at launch would be damn nice, too.
Day one. Because I'm a huge tool and will buy anything with ZELDA or Nintendo written on it.
I don't think $250 is that bad considering is has a pack in game. Wii Sports looks kind of fun, too, and I've always liked Nintendo's sports games.
Depends on the launch games. The price hasn't deterred me, but an N64-esque launch certainly would.
Absolutely day 1. Pre-ordering that & Zelda. The price is okay, it's not like the PS3 which will be raping us all at the estimated $600. Gotta love Sony.
I supposed I'll get it launch day, but the price of the Wiimotes for multiplayer gaming has made me bitter. I'll be happy if I don't need four controllers for multiplayer fun in Monkey Ball and Wario Ware.
yeah, we know what mine is. amma srewed up the joke, the meanie.
Depends on how my bank account's looking around the time it launches. I can wait a while if need be, but I'll definitely pick one up when MP3 or Mario Galaxy hit, whichever comes first.
Zelda's the big game on the system this year but we still don't know how it compares with the GC version. If the versions are pretty much the same in quality or if the traditional controls turn out better than I might as well get the GC version this year.
I'm all over this and Zelda day one, Amazon has pre-orders up still nto sure if Im gonna go that way, or wait on eb/gamestop or just sit outside the walmart by my house on launch day
depending on how my funds are I may pick up Red Steel at launch as well the new trailer for that looks very hot

I was just going to say something to the effect of "Am I the only one who would rather play Zelda on the GC?"
But, I guess I'm not.
And just because they're saying it's gonna be on GC a month later is no reason at all to believe them. It'll get pushed, first to December, then to January. Probably no later than that though. And it won't get pushed until like, the week it's supposed to be out.
I think the Wii version will come out on time.
I'll probably wait for the first price drop. By that time there will be more than two games that I would actually want to spend money on.
I'm pretty bitter regarding the wii, not enough to just say fuck it. Or at least not yet anyway.
Wake me up whenever Metroid Prime 3 comes out. Zelda can be had on a console thats $50 bucks. I don't care if its pushed back or not. If I were a huge Zelda fan, I'd wait the couple extra weeks.
The Wii lauch is terribly weak. Nothing grabs my attention in the least. I'm sure I'll get it whenever more substantial games comes out, but for now, I'm content with the 360 and my current gen stuff.
Online Tetris Attack would crush my soul, though and would have me waiting in a line at launch. :)
I'll be there on launch day, though Zelda wouldn't have been enough for me. Thankfully Trauma Center will most likely make launch, and even if not, Red Steel is a good game to complement Zelda on launch. My ideal launch day would be the system, 2 games, and the retrocon.
I already preordered and paid EBgames 169$. I think the Euro price, being 338$ (+25% VAT) is a bit steep. The price would make me reconsider if I hadn't already invested partly. My main problem is that it isn't launching with Metroid Prime 3. I'm getting too old to settle for less than the best entertainment, and I don't need a console standing around waiting for the main treat.
It's funny, but all of the sudden rumours of a 360-core pricedrop in December sounded appealing.
Thats how I felt before Windwaker. Dunno, lets hope they are not milking the cow. I'm waiting for in-depth reviews before I even bother to care. (4-Swords was excellent though). My dreamlaunch would have been Wii with MP3 & Super Paper Mario.
i'm on the pre-order list for the Wii and PS3 and EBgames, ncsx.com and play asia and nothing yet...what the fuck is taking them so long?
My choice depends on the launch games. Even then, it's probably not a Day One for me. $250 is not too much, but I doubt I'll buy one until after the Christmas season.
I plan to buy it on day one. $250 with a pack-in isn't all that bad, and I'm interested in seeing how good Zelda is with the Wiimote, although like Neozeedeater, I'm apprehensive about it since no comparisons have been made between how it controls on the GC vs. the Wii.
Yeah, Rumpy is right. A reliable EB source told me that they are likely to start taking preorders next week (probably Tuesday he said) when they have a better idea how much each store will be allocated.
As long as something doesn't happen to financially drain me I'm getting a Wii at launch. First time I really wanted a system at launch since the DC (I only got a launch PS2 because I needed a DVD player anyway.)
I really want to pick it up day one, but my wife is telling me I have to wait until Christmas!?
I told her that I'll pick it up when it comes out and then she can get me a coupla game for Christmas =) Much better idea...
I can't wait for Fire Emblem on Wii ...
Looking at that somewhat weak Wii launch lineup, I'm still better off just waiting for the GC Zelda one since I still have a nice selection of GC games that I want to complete or play altogether. Plus by the time GC Zelda comes out, there still won't be a great deal of new games out so no loss or anything.
So yeah I picked "depends on launch lineup".
I seriously want to hear my zelda arrows being shot out of my wiimote and then the sound of it hitting come out of my tv. I don't know why but that thought gives me a half-chubby.
Sounds like ghetto surround sound.
I don't know, that seems like the perfect place for such a sound to originate.
Day one, even if it had no launch titles.
Day one here as well. I've always been interested in the Wii, but maybe it's just the pre launch hype, or my extreme dissapointment with the PS3, but I can't wait for the Wii now. It actually has some original content, unlike the PS3, and I have high hopes of the VC.
I'm suprised by the results. i was expecting something far more pessimistic from TNL.
Why is "Depends on the launch games" an option. Don't we know the launch games?
There needs to be another option.
Price is ok but I'm not interested right now anyways.
This is TNL hive mind ignorance at its finest. Please, enlighten us as to how the Wii has more original content than the PS3.
From where I'm sitting, it looks like this:
Zelda, which will be better on GameCube
Red Steel, which won't be as good as Resistence on PS3
Excite Truck, which won't be as good as Ridge Racer 7 on PS3
Trauma Center, which I couldn't possibly be less interested in
Monkey Ball, which makes me take back what I said about Trauma Center. I could be less interested.
Everything else will suck or will be a multi-platform title.
by that I mean 95% of the games aren't coming out for the 360 as well. look at the PS3 launch list and give me more than 1 or 2 games worth owning that won't be out for the 360 2 weeks earlier. At least the Wii has some interesting games that I can't get for any other system.
on Zelda, really? enlighten me on how a game on a more powerful system, even just slightly so, that integrates a new control scheme will be worse than the one on the gamecube. i wish to know where you get that from.
on red steel, how exactly will resistance be better? im a pretty big insomniac fan, but it looks totaly generic to me, world war 2 guys vurses aliens, woo, outside of the pretty graphics and the online vurses, whats the hook that makes it interesting? with red steel at least i get the increased visceral experience of the controller mimicking my moves with the weapons, enlighten me please.
as for excite truck, trauma, and monkey ball, i dont do racewrs, trauma dosent appeal to me, and monkey ball i burned out on 4 years ago, so i join you in not caring about those, but if you coudl explain your other comments that would be spiffy.
Everyone that's played Resistance says it's amazing fun. OPM, 1UP, Gamespot, etc. I have to agree with Yoshi; Resistance, Warhawk (despite the retarded on foot levels), and Motorstorm look better than anything in the launch day lineup for Wii.
I think the hive mind stuff going on right now is people are building the Wii up, despite the fact that the launch looks like total ass. No Mario, no Corruption, no Smash Bros., no Warioware...only a Zelda game that's better on the GC anyway, by all accounts.
Anyone buying a Wii on day one will absolutely be buying potential, and nothing more, imo.
While this is probably all true, I'm willing to risk a $250 to see how fun Wii Sports and a few of those actually are.
I mean if I end up with a PS3 somehow there's no rule that says I can't play Red Steel and Resistance (which really are nothing alike in gameplay; why did you compare them?) and since I probably won't have a PS3 the Wii could be a fun side distraction until the price goes down.
LOL Untold Legends. That doesn't help your case.
It's not like you have to play it with the Wii controller anyway. I bet you there'll be some additional incentive content in the Wii version to coax fence sitters to make the jump. I don't think Zelda will be good with the Wii controller. I just don't think it matters much when you've got a regular oldie controller to play it with sitting next to your system.
I'm more inclined to give Nintendo the benefit of the doubt right now. I have a DS and like it more than any other handheld I've ever owned (admittedly I've only owned a Gameboy SP, a Fatboy and a Gamegear) and played Jungle Beat at Gibbits house in July and the new control setup made the game genuinely funner. I guess it's because there's more challenge or something. Jungle Beat wouldn't be half as fun as it is if it didn't have the bongos -- but it does have them and is twice as fun.
I don't see anything in Resistance that would make me pick it above Red Steel. Obviously reviews and word of mouth will sway the final decision, but what I saw of Red Steel made it look really fun. So far everything on the 360 has trumped everything I've seen for the PS3. I don't need another system that essentially does the exact same thing unless it shows me content I want to play that I can't find anywhere else. The Wii shows me content that Sony and Microsoft can't give me and that's why I'm interested in the Wii.
But right now the launch lineup isn't looking as hot as I thought it would. At 250, though, we'll see. That's not a lot of money.
Red Steel is a piece of shit.
They said on the 1UP Yours podcast yesterday that Warioware isn't making launch in the US. Given that they were at the event in New York, I believe them. Also EB's website says 1/15/07.
http://www.ebgames.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=230031
lol, then what does this mean?
Fine Chao...based on your gut instinct that Warioware is coming out at launch, go start waiting in line now. Don't cry to me 2 months from now about how it's not a launch game.
No, no. had nothing to do with that.
All I'm saying is: The schedule's definitely not final, but fuck Nintendo if Wario can't make it on launch. :(
Yes you do.Quote:
It's not like you have to play it with the Wii controller anyway.
My only "point" was that there will be more than 5% of PS3-exclusive games at launch.Quote:
LOL Untold Legends. That doesn't help your case.
Truth, though they've had plenty of time to fix it since E3.Quote:
From what I've seen so far, I would have preferred a Virtua Cop port.
Day one...
Here you go, bitches. The only first party games confirmed for launch are Zelda and Excite Truck.
Does anyone know if the Wii will have a gameboy adapter like the 'Cube?
Kinda makes a difference as to whether I'll trade in my 'Cube.
I highly doubt it. To Nintendo, the GBA is over.
But to me, being able to actually see some of those games on my big screen adds so much. And, if the GBA is over, how come they just released FFIV for GBA?
Because it took Square this long to port it. It's been out in Japan for quite a while.
They'd be more likely to release GBA games for the Virtual Console I'd think.
Wario Ware won't be a launch title? Damn, I have high hopes for the Wii version. Maybe I'll actually get Super Mario Galaxy, hopefully it won't be Luigi's Mansion 2.
