Both Frogacuda and myself said that SOME jail time could help her, and didn't say she had to serve a life sentence for that to happen.

You are an idiot. Those are two different thoughts, as in:
1. She should go to Jail
2. For the rest of her life no child should be in her custody.
See how those don't add up to life in prison? Again, leard to fucking read english before you come into these threads and try to talk.
Maybe if you had punctuated correctly, that would have come out the way you wanted it to.
"She should go to jail, and for the rest of her life, no child should be in her custody."
Everyone but you understood it. Which means the problem is 100% on your end.
Why on earth would I put commas in those two spots?
Is there a break between the words "life" and "no"? No. Is it normal to put commas before the word "and" when there's only two thoughts being connected? No.
Again, it's not my fault you can't read english.
No, actually, Nash's way is the correct way.
Without the comma it would say, "No child should be treated that way for the rest of her life." Barring the suggestion that she should go to jail. Nash's way would say, "She should go to jail (idea) for the rest of her life (elaboration) [because] no child should be treated that way." Which I assume you meant.
But yeah everyone understood it, Nash is splitting hairs. On a message board with posta, I see no reason why this should be a big deal.
Actually, you do need that first comma. You have a sentence with two different clauses each with a different subject.
