I'm torn between 360 and PC for this game. If they design it in a way where I don't long for ctrl+1, +2, etc then the 360 version is what I'll get.
360 exclusive?
Uh... that's not a great idea.
I watched the trailer finally. (server was busy)
I geeked out.
From the site.

I hope it's playable. I couldn't really wrap my head around BFMEII.
In the event that I get a 360 within the close future, I will definitely pick this up.
Master's been saying that this will be on the "Games for Windows" lineup. Which is true? Is it 360 exclusive or not?
GameSpot has it confirmed for PC.
I really don't give a shit about the trailer. Not that it's not nice (it is), but I want to see some gameplay.
Muy muy interestante.
Isn't Master in a pretty good position to know the truth?
is this the age of empires(?) mod that bungie shut down or am i thinking of something else?
From what I can remember, when Halo was early in development it was suppose to be a type of RTS or at least a 3rd person shooter from a very pulled back perspective. Try not confuse what I am writing about with the footage from macworld way back when.
I wonder if this iteration will be anything like the original concept, or if it is just the beginning of the whoring of the franchise into different branches. (think halo tennis or halo golf ) You can call this the sonic syndrome or the mario syndrome if that name has not already been copped.
An RTS? Super-pass.
EDIT: Trailers pretty though.
You're such an f-chan, Kairi.
That went right over my head.
EDIT: Nvm, I get it. I think I need to start saying "No thx" to drugs.
It might be a good thing it's 360 exclusive. Consoles are generally crap for this genre. Pikmin and Kessen are the only instances I can think of where the interface really worked, and those were designed for consoles from the ground up.
You know what a game like this needs? A replay mode where you have full camera control and can zoom right up to stuff to watch the pretty graphics and everything.
10 min of gameplay footage. It looks pretty cool, though I'm not a huge fan of RTS games. I also doubt a Halo RTS will change that considering I haven't been able to get into what many consider the best RTS games ever release (Starcraft and such).

That looks really nice, and I'm one of the biggest Halo fanboys on this forum, but not even the Halo name can make me play a real-time strategy game.
I'll play it if its decent. I couldnt get into the new C&C on 360 but played through Lord of the Rings so who knows.
Looks great...day 1. Still too bad there's not a PC version.
This begs for a mouse and keyboard.
Looks like shit. Most watered down Starcraft clone I've seen in some time. Would it have killed them to do at least one original thing? Halo fans will buy it though, since they'll buy anything.
Doesn't look anything like Starcraft to me. It reminds me much more of Company of Heroes.
It's gotta be PC or no deal. I'm pretty flexible with most genres but RTSes are keyboard and mouse only. I somehow doubt this won't make it to PC at some point though. They can't be that stupid..
I enjoy RTS and I love Halo.
I'm in.
What the hell does "real-time damage" mean?Quote:

I'm not even trying to pull some jaded act, but I honestly got bored just watching that demonstration.

Summary from: http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/01...rs-pc-release/ (Although the Angry Pixel article is much more interesting.)
Quote:
The always disturbed crew over at the ANGRY pixel have jump started the rumor mill once again with a claim that Halo Wars is also being developed for the PC.
According to one of their Microsoft insiders (who contracted a "case of verbal diarrhoea"), the ANGRY pixel claims that Ensemble is planning on bringing Halo Wars to the PC as part of Microsoft's Games for Windows initiative and, get this, will feature cross platform play with its brother on the 360. They say that Ensemble was ready and willing to take on both 360 and PC Halo Wars development and were up for the challenge to completely integrate cross-platform gameplay. They also mentioned that the PC version may include a map editor (nothing too fancy for a PC RTS), but that the custom maps would be playable on the 360 as well.
Rumor or not, Halo Wars PC isn't all that far fetched of an idea. If it doesn't come to fruition day one when Halo Wars on the 360 releases, we wouldn't be one bit surprised to see its PC release come six months down the road.
just watched the E3 demonstration, looks nice but I'm definetly playing the Demo first before buying this.
Good thing, since it looks like it'll control horribly on the 360 anyway.
People get to worked up about controls on games like RTS's on consoles, back when I was into gaming on PC, I used a controller to play Age of Empires 2 and Age of Mythology with a crappy PC controller and it worked fine just like just about any other RTS on the 360 to date.
Why am I making a mistake?
I just don't think controls on consoles matter that much with RTS's on consoles, if you ask me I think people spend to much time bitching about them.
Well you obviously didn't play AoE2 or AoM competitively. I've never met anyone who would rather play an RTS on a console instead of a PC.
Sometimes I don't give a shit about playing a game competively and just want to chillout. I did play those two competively, but it wasn't the core game to me. I usually just played a SP free for all map agianst 3 other teams on normal difficulty. I'm sure the tons of people that bought AOE 3 never even played it once competively, they do exactly what I do, play it casually.
Yeah. No one buys RTS's for online play, they all just buy them 'to chillout'.
lol StarCraft 64
Gay.
Definitely the company line, so I wouldn't give up all hope. Honestly I would have no problem buying the game for 360 and then PC six months or a year later if it's really good. I think Ensemble going the Relic route, and against what they've done in the past, will make the game more playable on 360 at the very least.
I suppose the Halo 3 PC announcement will come before this one.
Demo hits Live on Feb. 5th.
So, any chance this isn't boring-er than hell?
Can it step up to C&C: Red Alert or Starcraft on any front? The controller aspect has me concerned.
Traditional RTS games will forever be gimped on consoles. There's no way around this.
The control scheme may be "good" but it'll never, ever match what you can do with a mouse and a keyboard full of hotkeys and macros.
Sooo is this a traditional RTS or has it been more console'd? You know, like Pikmin.
Pikmin is decent, but I would have rather had a mouse for it! The Wii might very well improve that game.
If you played Red Alert 3 on 360 it's a lot like that, only more focused on making it easier to use on consoles. It's the typical base-building and resource gathering setup, with lots of units that have multiple upgrades.
I likes my hotkeys, though. : (
I can't get the hang of this shit. Fuck it.
Is the demo just single player?
I've had a soft spot for console RTS games ever since Dune on Genesis, so I'll give this a shot.
Herzog Zwei is still the best console RTS.
I'm convinced.
I like it. I may purchase.
Yeah, I normally don't like RTS games because there is way too much to them, but this game is dumb'd down enough that I really really enjoyed the demo. And I loved the gorgeous cinemas. I'll definitely be purchasing this.
The end of Feb/beginning or March is going to be awesome. This, Killzone 2, Street Fighter, and RE5. WHOOP WHOOP.
I just like it because it's new. SC is tried and true the only perfect game ever released.
I could never get into Starcraft either. I was awful at it and never really got any better no matter how much I tried. RTS games are the only types of games that I need to babysit me when playing.
I'm not huge on the RTS genre (just not my thing, I suck at 'em and there's usually too much going on) and wasn't really giving a rat's ass about this. Got the demo, and hey, I'd buy this. It seems like the campaign would be pretty fun. It was dumbed down, and pretty. (Though I find the announcer's voice to be very, very boring)
The cinema looks great, I wasn't sure if I like it but it seems alright. $30 seems like the right price for it MS store FTW
Can you get me a copy, too? Or do I just borrow it as well?
I liked the demo but I'll wait for a price drop, RTS games are not my fave but this seems fun.
Borrowing is better.
But you just have to wait a little bit cuz I want to play it.
Believe me, I'm in no rush. I have my plate full as it is. It's why I haven't beaten the last three levels of Ninja Gaiden 2.
The best strategy game is still Black and White 1. StarCraft can go to hell.

This is $30 at K-Mart this week.
It's a pretty good game, do suggest.
lol BnW was ASS
Black and White was pretty neat. I haven't played it in years, though.
Wasn't there a sequel? B&W just didn't work, the people required constant, mind numbing attention.
Magic Carpet was RAD.
Only Steppenwolf's.
Anybody still have this and want to co-op this biatch?
