Banjo Kazooie 360

I'm looking forward to this although I hope it has some improvements over just being a collect-a-thon. Banjo looks especially dopey in the trailer for some reason. Well, I guess we'll see it in 2009 if we're lucky.

I really liked the first game, I thought it was better than Mario 64 in two aspects: 1) no clues when you start a stage meant you had to think a lot more, and 2) the locations of the puzzle pieces were a lot more logical. I played a bit of the second game but got pretty bored with it and never got very far.

The new character designs make them look far more interesting, the way I see it. Everything else in that game had the same fucking eyes.

I don't see why this would be 2009 instead of 2007, Q1 2008 at the latest. Rare already has the engine built (Kameo, Viva Pinata), so all they have to do is some Banjo specific tweaks to it and then all the level design. Shouldn't take more than a year, imo. Besides, I think MS is done putting up with Rare taking 3 years to make a game.

And since that has happened we have gotten Kameo, which was decent, and PD0, which was complete trash. I'd rather them take 3 years and develop an outstanding game then 1 1/2 and create an average/trash game.

The first Banjo Kazooie is one of my all time favorite games, so I am very happy with this news. It was definitely the best platformer on the N64, just edging out Mario 64 and Conker...

I thought Banjo Tooie was trash though because it suffered from the Donkey Kong 64 overdose syndrome. Rare just tried to do way too much with that game, and it just wasn't possible on the N64. So, I hope this new Banjo game will be closer in quality to the first game.

Now Rare needs to just drop that Viva Pinata trash and make Blast Corps 360with Online play and I will be a very pleased 360 owner.

It'll be a launch title for Xbox 720... at first. And then it'll get delayed until the Christmas after that, and end up being the exact same game as Donkey Kong 64, but with puzzle pieces instead of bananas.

Are you kidding? Both games were in development for the Gamecube. Shit, wasn't Kameo originally an N64 game?

I'm in.

I liked both Banjos and ~ loved ~ DK64. Of course this was back in my collect-athon overdose phase, but I still like scavenger hunt-type platformers. And Rare does 'em best (Kameo is great btw).

For some reason I was able to enjoy DK 64, but I couldn't really get into Banjo Tooie. I actually liked the GBA Banjo Kazooie game a lot more than Banjo Tooie just because it was simple and fun.

Also, I agree, Kameo is great and I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel to that either. Although, Jet Force Gemini is another underrated Rare game and I'll take a sequel to that and Blast Corps before Kameo :)

I forgot about Kameo's rediculously long development life. As for PD0, it was in development for Xbox, then moved to 360, and nothing was ever shown for the game. Which leads me to believe the engine was a rush job developed specifically for the 360's launch, and the game really shows that.

Forgot about the GBA game. Yeah, it was good, too. Much less overwhelming than the N64 ones.

The first BK was fantastic, but I hated the second. DK64 was even worse so let's hope they stay away from those design choices. I'll hold out hope that this will turn out well. And if there was ever a time for a new Blast Corps, now is it.

How long did it take you to beat the game? If you say over 10 hours you really suck.

Did any level introduce a new or exciting spin on play mechanics? If you say yes you've never played a good platformer. Same goes for the boss battles.

I loved the original BK. It had a ton of varied levels that were well put together and getting to all the things you had to collect required some thought and skill but wasn't frustrating. This makes me want to go pop it in and see if it's still fun at all.

Mmm... Blast Corps! Probably my most anticipated Virtual Console game for the Wii. I rented it once years ago for a week, beat it, and never played it again. I think it's time for a replay. And a sequel, of course.

Pretty much all of Rare's talent at this point has bled away but I'm happy to see the return of Banjo Kazooie since their first game was so awesome.

I own Tooie, played it for a few seconds and turned it off again so I can't say I cared for that one. If the game turns out good I'll definitely be among the reasons to get a 360.

Battletoads, Battletoads in Battlemaniacs, and Battletoads & Double Dragon need to come to XBLA with online co-op.

Throw in Blast Corps, Killer Instinct 1&2, Championship Pro-Am, and Super Offroad as well. Shit Microsoft, start getting some of that $200 million back.

The trailer had a lot of charm and charisma, which is actually something new for a Rare game. The new characters designs looked interesting as well, and I liked the rough housing Banjo demonstrated with Kazooie. Any physical assault that fucking bird is welcome IMO.

I stayed away from Kameo when I realized a game based on morphing in to big ass creatures didn't have any awesome cool morphing animations. Actually it didn't really have any morphing animations -- just sparkles and magic.

He really doesn't look any different from the rendered concept art of the original.

Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed the original - it wasn't better than Super Mario 64, but it was as good a clone as we've ever gotten and it had a great amount of care and work put into it. It'd be cool to see what Rare can do with a collectathon on new hardware and with the lessons of Donkey Kong 64 in it's cap.

BK is probably in the top 5 3D platform games ever but thats saying more about how shallow the quality of the genre is than it is about BK being good.
