Did they update the music at all?
Shit, I didn't even pay attention to that.
I love the new announcer. He's retarded and sounds way worse than the old one, but I think they recorded every word individually and then pieced them together like automated calls. "MILLIA wins. ROUND two. Let's get READY TO rock."
New song for ky and sol iirc.
Edit: apparently its mad buggy.
Finally got to play this with people for a few hours today. We all think it's awesome, even though we're still trying to get a hold on the adjusted priorities and all. I <3 Eddie.
It's a wierd day when everyone on tnl plays a guilty gear game before me.
I just watched some vids on youtube of this, the game looks fucking sweet.
I watched some videos and all the animation looks exactly the same to me, which I only mention because people keep saying it's been improved.
I don't know about the animation being improved, but they definitely changed a lot of animation and added a lot of new moves, and the moves that they added are sweetly animated.
What DYLE said. I haven't seen any alterations to the animations that were already there, but there's a bunch of new stuff added considering what they did to some characters. Zato-1 is basically the same character (not counting the added moves, <3<3 Dust spike) while Eddie is pretty much completely new. There's new special effects that seem to throw people off at first, I wonder if some were confusing that with improved animation.
I'm a bigger fan of A.B.A. than I was before, her and I-no are now my to-learn characters (I've been working on I-no for so long but feel like I've made no progress). You need to get on that.Quote:

You got me. I think the game overall felt more fluid but it didn't appear to me that they added any frames of animation, and certainly not like the last time they redrew a bunch of stuff (#R, I think?). I could be wrong, especially because I wasn't particularly looking for that while playing, but it didn't strike me as a noticeable upgrade for the people that liked to whine about GG's animation frames.
Regardless, I think the game feels good while playing and that's all I really care about. Now if I could only consistently be fast enough for an I-no 66236+D I'd be a happy man today.
It could be the new backgrounds. A lot of them have a higher level of detail and more/smoother animation this time around.
It's probably the fact that the sprites are bigger and the maximum zoomed in screen is a lot closer than before. The game as a whole looks a lot better than its predecessors, but I think that the animation thing is an optical illusion. It just looks better, I'll leave it at that.
Nice. My GGXX is fucked because of how much it was played. I'm gonna be going from the original to revision 5 though, it's gonna feel kinda odd.
So we got done playing around six hours of GGAC today and were talking about how hilariously retarded it would be if the game came out on the Wii and had waggle bullshit. The timing of this press release makes me feel somehow partially responsible, and for that I am very, very sorry.
In other news, I've become a huge fan of Order Sol.
I assume this will work for it.

It's only good if you can mod it.
Depends who makes the parts
It's a Hori. I'm sure you can mod it out with Sanwa/Seimitsu parts. Looks to me like it should be about the same dimensions/button layout as a Hori Fighting Stick 3. The PCB is most likely soldered to the buttons, though.

Meh, modding is too much work for me nowadays. I would rather it just use namco sticks.
I'm late on this, but for those still wondering about the glitches and inconsistencies:
Rather shitty, though apparently at least Axl can be solved if he's the second player. None of these things have affected me so I'm not real worried at the moment, especially since I've replaced my I-no efforts with HOS.
Arc Systems apologized for the bugs though only mentioned trying to make future releases better. Whether that includes the future US releases (or even just the US Wii version) would be something nice to know. They released a PDF file that was compiling the bugs they're looking at (Bridget's freezes, etc. but none of the complete game lockups caused by stuff like I-no's Supers), so maybe they actually are working on at least some of it..
And lol Sol's Sidewinder damage properties get bigger, not smaller:
I read on one of those GG forums, I think it was Dustloop or something that the US release will be 30 dollars and the bugs will be addressed for it.
This is in American stores, $30.
They removed the names of the moves from the in-game menus for reasons unknown to me, and it couldn't have been too lazy to translate because they put them in the manual (and it's a pretty nice manual, btw). So, uh, they translated the text for loading and saving to the memory card. All the menus were already in English and there's no story mode in AC, but at least we have a cool manual.
I'm just glad it's here, in any case. Now the painful process of breaking in the PS3 d-pads (ow ow ow).
Wait, so this just got an American release? For PS2?
I don't remember them being in GGXX, either.Quote:

Any word on corrected bugs and arcade discrepancies?
Jeez, this snuck up on me. I had no clue. None of the GameStops out here have it yet, but they say it's coming. Will pounce on this ASAP, though I'd definitely like to be sure that the bugs are fixed. Or some of them, at least.
Yep. At $30 it's not a bad deal. It should be in tomorrow because it shipped on Tuesday, I believe.
Bingo. The issue here being that they're in the Japanese version.Quote:

AFAIK Sammy hasn't released an official document that says what they actually did to it, just the stuff that listed what they were looking at. It's only a day old so I doubt anything's up yet but there should be confirmation soon from the community.Quote:

Bought this last night. I'm really not a fighting game person, but I've owned five different versions of this game over the years.
Now if I could just find some people in town to play with.
Hasn't the I-no freeze glitch been in multiple versions, though? Most of the glitches never affected me (it doesn't hurt that my friends and I don't really use the people in question, aside from Sol whom I'm not good with yet) but I just hadn't seen a list of the stuff that actually got ironed out. We've taken to importing people from different counties, especially since I've been playing with the new guys I found long enough that we're starting to play more against each others styles instead of against the characters. Why for you so far away? ; ;Quote:

If I had to guess, the ino glitch is not a glitch perse, its more of the cpu or ram being overtaxed, and because the game does not slow down for whatever reason (like it does in the arcade), it instead comes to a crashing halt. It seemed to happen in the past versions when there were alot of items or specials going on (fausts super + jam's flying kick). I don't remeber it happenening on xbox though.
I agree 100%. She's obnoxious when used correctly. I need to devote much time toward learning how to play her.
Also, as previously mentioned, Order-Sol is fucking insane. He's a bit . . . clunky, at first, but he has solid low hit-count combos that absolutely WRECK your opponents, and he can combo into a Tyrant Rave Ω . . . at level 3 . . . which is a match win, instantly.
Creverand, Ohio. We talked about this once before, and somehow I missed the whole thread about your party until it was too late otherwise I could've joined you guys for that (then we could've played the next day or something). One of these years I'll figure something out.Be prepared to do a shit-ton of half-circles, as every good combo of hers ends with transforming the key twice in a row. She's awesome though her normal mode is a definite handicap, but at least there's finally someone besides Testament for us to yell out "KEY!" when certain moves are performed. :sweat:Quote:

(I know, Youtube should not be a primary source, but it's handy, dammit.)
I'm fine with half-circles. I come from the school of Street Fighter, so I won't even have to think about it. All I need is the timing, and I should do well enough.
I agree HOS doesn't have range, or quickness. I play him extremely defensively, waiting for my opponent to over extend themselves before I eff them up. Now, I know playing a conditional style isn't always good, especially if my opponent can read me, but it's done well so far.
I by no means think he's the best character in the game, or even top tier for that matter. I'd land him squarely on second tier, but his power is amazing. I have a ton of fun playing with him.
Hey. Mech. Any good sites around that showcase GGXXAC combo vids or anything like that? Shoryuken.com used to, but I don't know if they still do.
Heh. Clearly the reason I missed it was due to the obtuse obviousness of the situation.
Thanks, though.
I have no idea what you're talking about!
I'm gonna go ahead and say I'm digging Accent Core. Most, if not all of the bugs from the Japanese version are fixed...I haven't ran into anything bad yet. I hate Order-Sol...I'm not too fond of his move set and it seems like he's turning out to be another Justice with his charge moves and subsequently overpowered Overdrives. I like some of the changes...the selecting of the EX modes is alot easier now. I absolutely love being able to select the music on the character select screen in 2P. I'm very excited for the Wii version. Classic and GCN controller support...HELL YEA!
Gripe: I'm so sick and tired of "new" Guilty Gear games without new characters. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, give us new characters next time you make a Guilty Gear game! I realize it was priced at $30 to compensate...but I'll gladly shell out an extra $20 for a couple of new characters to play around with!!!
And by the way...Dippity-Do is a terrible Guilty Gear player folks.
I would not kid about such things, my friend.
http://www.gamespot.com/wii/action/g...ml?sid=6173005
Hey, fuck you! Who do you think you are? You don't know me!
Besides, I beat you half the time. Pretty good record, if'n you ask me. Especially considering you're obviously better versed in the previous installations.
And I don't think he's anything like Justice. He's powerful, sure. Probably even the most powerful character in the game, but as MechDeus stated, his short comings more than make up for it. Hardly a top tier character, but in the right hands he'll crush all comers.
I am now conditioning my hands to be the "right hands."
But honestly, I feel A.B.A. is tons better than he is.
Oh, but I do know you, my friend! In fact, I know all about you!
I admit, our tussle turned out to be somewhat even. Neither of us were exactly at our best at our first juncture. But I promise you thus: You may have the ups on me whilst we spar on PS2. But I very well may have the ups on you on the Wii, so watch your back. But don't forget to press R1 so you can turn around first.
Both A.B.A. and HOS are considered third tier, just to mention.
But yeah, I usually just use Youtube for videos since they tend to have a wide selection of videos demonstrating all sorts of stuff. I honestly don't care too much for just straight combo videos anymore, I much prefer seeing matches because it gives me a better idea of what's viable and how to make it flow. I've really been meaning to find a way to record my matches so I can see where my problems occur.
A.B.A. rockin' out:
Well, I'm certainly not the best GG player, so my character assessments are lacking.
I don't have experience enough with the other characters to say one way or the other. But they feel good enough for second tier.
Eddie destroys everyone as usual.
I've always hated Eddie.
Hmm, I don't see the same problems at all that you guys are having with HOS. I mean, quickenss was actually put down, someone actually wrote that as a reason? Quickness? I can understand not feeling his pokes very well, but he's very fast.
I think A.B.A. is a very good choice for the U.S., most people don't know how to properly fight her, which gives you a good edge. Every group of people has a HOS player, so unless you can bring something new to the table, you will find yourself a bit harder pressed.
I played this game a bit for the first time a week or so ago. It's fun, and very different, which is a plus for me.
I'm a glutton for abuse, I love Chipp and have put more time into him than anyone else by far. It's too bad that he usually goes through the least changes every revision and still has horrid defense.
Meanwhile, Slayer is absolutely ridiculous now, I like him a lot more than before, and back then I even though he was a little too overpowered.
I found that a little humorous since it was posted after the video I added, but yeah. For me using HOS I usually have the toughest time against anyone that can long-range, usually because my friends will do their best to run away from me if they can fireball the day away. That leaves it up to me to make a path through all the bullshit and get to them, which isn't necessarily difficult as it is more dangerous for me and safe for them.
Testament, Ky and Eddie are my biggest scares. I think Ky will be a lot easier when I get more practice against him, and I'm the only person I know that plays Eddie so he's my biggest weakness right now. Testes gets a lot of playtime here so I can hold my own against him but it's closer than I'd like.
Watch the videos of course, but what i remeber, was spam the jump D, like super jump and jump D twice, all over the place, all the time. He has some really neat old school and new school mixups, I don't know much of the new stuff, but I'm pretty keen on the old if you want some grandpa play strats.
I don't have any problems with the ky hos matchup. I don't mind blocking a full screen fireball for some charge. Getting in doesn't seem like a problem against ky at least, as long as you move forwards defensively (canceling runs into FD). Really anji used to be the big hos killer, and hes so toned down, and hos toned up, that hos seems relatively good. Maybe I can get a hos specific tier chart.
Bingo, this is hos only. I think it's a few month's old, but probably better than our random speculation. I'll try my best to explain the bad ones at least.
Faust: Well, faust is fairly obvious, in the raw poking game, he beats hos out clean in most situations, for example, none of hos' ground pokes have much of a chance against fausts 5k, 5s, 2h, or 2d. These pokes also don't leave faust at much of a disadvantage if they miss, and are out of Hos' favorable punishing range (His level 2 flame super and fafnir will probably still work). Also bad is fausts 5k hits right in the area of Hos's low jump, which is a primary method of attack and rushdown of the opponent is hesistant. I am not sure how faust's 6P handles hos' jumping, as I don't put myself in that situation much, but I imagine it doesn't work well for hos. On the upside, faust always has had poor startup on even his fastest pokes, so you can play ground based frame traps pretty well on him.
Zappa: This used to be horrible. Hos simply did not have a good way to do damage if he blocked the rings. Does fafnir work if you block the rings? Thats important to note. This alone was enough to stump me in many matches while in japan, because the japanese were able to take free shots at dp, effectively scaring me into doing little, and getting orbs often. Outside of this, zappa is too complex a character to analysize in a forum like this.
Testament: I don't believe this its a poor match, unless he got alot better.
A.B.A.: Many of sol's powerful combos don't end in knockdown, and don't have way's of changing them into knockdown combos. Additionally, HOS lacks a long range move to keep A.B.A. honest on the ground, so she is allowed many relatively safe ground pokes. Even HOS's dp doesn't ground. Finally his mixup is rather weak in terms of how often it hits, even though its damage isn't bad. All this leads to poor meter errosion.
FAVOURABLE MATCHUPS
vs Sol: 5.5 - 4.5
vs Millia: 6.0 - 4.0
vs Chipp: 6.0 - 4.0
vs Jam: 5.5 - 4.5
vs Anji : 6.0 - 4.0
vs Dizzy: 5.5 - 4.5
vs I-No: 6.0 - 4.0
vs Bridget: 5.5 - 4.5
vs Robo-Ky: 5.5 - 4.5
BAD MATCHUPS
vs Faust: 4.5 - 5.5
vs Testament: 4.5 - 5.5
vs Zappa: 4.5 - 5.5
vs A.B.A.: 4.5 - 5.5
All other matchups are considered 5 - 5 (with the mirror matchup excluded).
That's what I do, but the slow forward motion plus when I get close the Greed Sever and his low hit mixup tend to box me into pure defensive. Again, this is mostly just an issue of me needing to practice against him to get down the animations for when to launch a counterattack.Quote:
Getting in doesn't seem like a problem against ky at least, as long as you move forwards defensively (canceling runs into FD).
Well if you are moving forwards with no guard stun, jumping and FDing is very safe, unless he is a master air-thrower. Just FD a bit on the way up, and you will block and ground move, clear the lows, or block the sever for probable frame advantage (meaning you get the next attack). If he does nothing, then you are coming down on him, and he will probably try and anti air, or a dp. Both of these can be beat with a second jump, straight up, and another tap of FD, then you are landing on him while he is in recovery. Seems like alot of work, but it actually fairly natural after a bit of practice.
Word, I'll work on that.
I know I am reviving a dead thread, but Japan a bit ago had a 23v23, with the best player of each character from the east and west coming together and representing in a single elimination. Nicely enough, all of the videos seem to be on youtube, a simple 23v23 and the first two letters of your characters name should get you at least 2 matches from the best player of your character playing against another best, pulling out the newest tricks. Great for learning new characters too. If that fails, add in a GGXXAC to the search.
I just started this game, and have no idea where to begin.
I always suggest messing around with the characters and find someone you like. www.dustloop.com is a decent site for beginners, and this 23v23 will help you see the tactics that really get used at high level play.
Yeahh.... I gave this a shot. Back to KOFXI.
They need to just make Hyper GGXX already so they can move onto GGX3.
Upgrade? BS. All they're doing is putting back the stuff that XX and #R already had. I doubt they'd even rerecord it because the voiceovers for story mode weren't all the same people as the game voices even back then, I don't think. If they do new scenarios, that'd be cool, and I guess they have to for Order Sol and ABA... but this just seems like a cash grab. Hell, Justice and Kliff were still in /, weren't they? :td:
Yes. One of Ky's moves since the first GG.
The story mode is completely brand new (takes place after the older story mode).
From NeoGAF:Quote:
Title: Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus
Release date: 27th March 2008
Genre: Fighting
Platform: PS2
Price: 6090yen (2079yen for Append version)
Previously thought to be just the US version of the game with all the bugfixes, Accent Core Plus is turning out to be something else entirely.
- Completely brand new fully voiced Story Mode.
- This time the Story Mode takes place after the events of the PS2 GGXX story mode.
- The 25 characters' stories will cover the major events involving the "mystery of Gears", "that man" and conflict with the Post War Administration Bureau, etc.
- The Story Mode has a full branching path Zapping system, with a total of 350 scenarios in all, once again all fully voice, representing the biggest story mode in Guilty Gear home edition history ever.
- 2 old characters brought back in GGXXAC glory: Justice and Cliff, both are also available as part of the story mode.
- Contains all the bug fixes, rebalances, and tune ups that the original version had issues with.
- New modes like Mission Mode where your character levels up from completing missions, a full survival mode, as well as a new Gallery mode where you unlock all the awesome new illustratons.
Once again, if you already have the original JP release of GGXXAC, you can buy the Append disc version for only 2079yen, which is less than 20 USD. Otherwise the full retail version is 6090yen. As far as announced, there is no Wii version and probably no plans for another US release.
BLAH. I shouldn't even bother caring since the GG story is so convoluted now, but part of me still wants it. Good thing we won't have to worry about seeing it on US shelves.
So the plus version would be about $60 to import?
Shame that it's probably not coming out in the US, then. This makes Accent Core seem like it was really rushed out there with minimal effort on the developers' part.
...and after it was such a big deal that Aksys released AC.
This probably isn't even worth it if you don't know Japanese and can't read the story.
...or, unless you're one of those people who NEEDS to rape people with Justice all the time.
I'll probably buy it. I mean this has to be the last one, right?
Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus comes out next Thursday. I'm going to be an asshole and pick it up.
This series needs to fucking stop already.
Oh, I agree. I'm a longtime GG fan and even I can't keep all that interested these days. I don't think I'm going to particularly enjoy GG2 Overture, but it's something different at least. Then again, so were Isuka and Judgment.
If it marks the end of the string of GGXX upgrades, it's fine as far as I'm concerned. Blazblue, horrible character designs and all, will hopefully be something fresh while still GG-y, at least. I think.
Then we can get back to complaining about how they're still making SF2 games with SSF2THDR and SF4. :p
I would love if they kept making updates once every year or two. For the most part they keep on improving the system, awesome, its like what computer games do with patches. Considering the time I put into the game as well, it easily justifies the $30.
Accent Core Plus is the bug-fixed US version of the game, but with an added story mode, and maybe kliff & justice. The system isn't updated though. Whether or not it's worth a purchase is up to the individual, but the story mode sounds intriguing.
I'll read it. On a faq somewhere.
Because they can. At least you get a soundtrack included with this one when it comes out. :)
Makes me glad I waited on AC! I don't know why they did it, but I'm happy.
I'm on the verge of packing up my PS2, and then this happens. Why not a 360 release? Save me some shelf space, Sega.
I own AC+ for the JPS2, AC for the PS2, and AC for the Wii. This news just makes me feel like more of an asshole.
You are hardcore AC fan!
I'm not sure if the gameplay is the same in this one. I think there were alot of crazy changes, but I'm not positive, that might be another mode in it. Either way, I doubt most of you care.
Gameplay's the same. ACP was released in Japan to incorporate all the bug fixes that were implemented in the US GGAC. Only changes are for single player stuff (survival, updated story mode) and there's a team battle mode now too. Guess we'll see if there's any surprises added to the US version other than the soundtrack.
Kliff and Justice are back in AC+ as well.
Picked this up for the original Xbox. Anyone have this and wanna play some matches?
I have this shitty game.
EDIT: also, Accent Core is PS2/Wii only, the Xbox is just GG X2 #Reload
Yeah reload on the xbox had a horrible online mode... laggy as hell...
I would love to see this get a proper release with online, then I may start playing it again. Haven't really played since slash... Man I miss playing this game.
It was really a good game, well except for accent core. Slash and Reload were awesome though. Even though I am really liking sf4, I understand more and more why the gg series was so great.
What was wrong with Accent Core?
