Really great month, one of the first where I've really had to weight each option. Finally the releases are starting to pick up.

Anyway, for me, Yakuza, Okami, and Company of Heroes were the big hitters this month. About halfway through Okami, and with admittedly only a little play so far in CoH, I'm still going to have to give my vote to Yakuza. Even with all of it's faults, it really sucked me in with it's atmosphere like few games have this gen, and while Okami is proving to be an excellent title as well, and I'm pretty certain of CoH's excellence, Yakuza is the game I'll probably remember most.

Why wasn't Doom a choice? Well, I picked LSWII 'cause I haven't played Okami or Yakuza yet.

Also, I liked Rule of Rose this month.

The only game I picked up was Pokemon Mystery Dungeon because I was in the mood for a roguelike that's not as punishing as NetHack.

Of course, I didn't know that the final dungeon is 99 floors, reverts you to level one, takes away all your money and items, makes you go in solo and saves before you enter so you can't cheese your way out of it by resetting the system. But hey.

yakuza is better than Okami? i'm playing Okami at the moment, and besides the cool paint brush graphics, i dont see what's so special about it. over-rated? i'm getting so bored of it already! :(

if Yakuza is that good, then i will have to check it out.

Still haven't played VP2 yet. Same goes for Megaman but I doubt that stands a chance at beating out Okami, Yakuza, and VP2.

Yakuza was really good overall, and while the gameplay dragged on by the end the finale was pretty awesome. I think I'll hold off voting at least until I've finished Okami, because that game is also awesome and has yet to slow down for me.

I'm around 5 or 6 hours into both Okami and Yakuza, and although they're enjoyable, I could sorta take 'em or leave 'em at this point.

I've enjoyed Rocket Slime and Loco Roco much more than those games thus far. I gave Rocket Slime the nod, as it can be enjoyed in long or short bursts where LR is strictly a 'play 2 or 3 stages then set it down' affair.

Megaman's also good, but man, that map.

Even though I only have about ten minutes of experience playing Okami at Gamestop, I already know I'm going to like it more than anything else which came out this month.

It's not great, but nothing else on the list really suits my tastes either. Okami isn't my thing. I don't really like Zelda style games. I thought Yakuza was good, but I got bored with the gameplay. My real gotm is Just Cause.

yah i dont see the big deal with Lego Star Wars either. I mean i bought it just for it's cute graphics and achievements, not much of gameplay to be had, the game is very bland.

Agreed. I was bored to tears with the first one, and the 2nd one is no different. It is cute and all but gameplay wise, it is pretty bland. Yakuza and Okami both seemed awesome, but I don't have them so I will refrain from voting for Sep.

Okami and Yakuza are the only two I have played so far. Both are awesome but I think Yakuza gets the edge.

I normally don't care for Dragon Quest related stuff but after reading reviews for Rocket Slime I want to check it out.

just for a warning, its easy as sin. it did have a very strange feel that drew me into it and made me play compulsively till i beat it, and then till i finished all the sidequests, i havent had a game do that to me since kotor 1, thats good.

Because of the glowing Yakuza comments from TNL, I brought the game home tonight to check it out. I don't get it--seems decent at best, but I'm only an hour in first save after going to jail. Is it not the gameplay I'm supposed to enjoy?

Your character can't do jack right now. The fighting gets much better as you progress,

For this month, Okami is number 2 to that game but I have yet to pick up yakuza so that could change.

LocoRoco! It plays more like Yoshi's Island than any other game, including the N64, GBA, and DS Yoshi games. The levels are easy to beat, getting a perfect (and then the par time) is freakin' hard.

No - I play it because I enjoy the variety of extracurricular things, it's fun to beat the shit out of goons, and to see how the plot unfolds.

No. It's like getting to watch a cool movie between levels of River City Ransom. That's pretty cool right there.

It's a morre than compotent beatemup with great combat. And yes it does get better, as you learn more moves.

The collection structure is very similar. LocoRoco = stars, MuiMui = flowers, and berries = coins. And getting all of them in a level is nearly as difficult as a perfect 100 points level score in Yoshi's Island.
