They are actually pretty decent these days, the former BMW, current Ford ownership has done wonders for the company.
But...be warned, service costs and repair parts tend to be very, very expensive when it need them.

Not suprised on all the bad Jeep experence. They really are a crap shoot, simply because the company has changed hands so freaking much, you have no idea who built on them. God help you if you ever had one with some of the renault parts from the really, really dark days of AMC.
A 4.0l I6 AMC/Jeep engine however, is the single most reliable piece of enginering on the planet. Edging out the Mopar Slant 6 and Toyota 22R.
as I have seen posted elsewhere, "You cannot kill a 4.0, you only make it angrier"
Joost has a car station called Fifth Gear. It's ran out of England. They review exotics and high end sport/luxury cars, of course. But what really interests me is the reviews of the normal, low end cars that the car companies don't sell in the states. Like the Ford Street Ka convertible.

they didn't like it very much, but it looked pretty cool to me. Why can't we get cars like that here?
I'd totaly drive a Ford Street Ka. Its an awesome little car. Its like a smart, without the yuppie-hipster pretension.
Because Ford leaves all its good cars in Europe and Australia. Go check out the Euro Focus and The Ford Falcon.Quote:

In case you havent before, torgo, go seek out Top Gear, which is the counterpart to Fifth Gear in england. Most of the people on Fifth Gear were originaly on Top Gear when it had much less cocking about on it and it was more strictly a motoring show.
From what I understand, Land Rovers are great if you're doing any off-roading. But they're heavy and prone to problems, which might make other choices better if off-roading isn't in your future.
Still, I agree--they look awesome. My favorite SUVs appearance-wise, save for maybe the Jeep Cherokee SRT-8.
US governmental regulations and to a lesser extent exchange rate issues and then the crazy cost of building new factories and retooling old ones. There's lots of reasons and the platform sharing with Mazda in recent years makes the chances of us seeing European cars here better, or at least US versions. It's more or less the same pile of reasons why the awesome Jp cars tend to stay in Japan and we get neutered stuff or in the Skyline's case, none at all. Go check the Jap's .jp homepages to see cars we'll probably never see here. The big three aren't the only ones leaving shit across the pond.
One of the few reasons I like being in CT. No stupid fucking toolbooths, anywhere
