Retro games?

I will only re-buy a game if its something I really love or if there are new features such as online play. I don't really care about achievements at all, but I like friends leaderboards.

I am kind of sick of crap early 80's arcade games that are out now. I could care less about Frogger or Scramble or whatever else is out there. Give me late 80's-90's stuff and I'll buy if the options are right. Seeing Doom on arcade was a wonderful suprise, too.A Live-enabled version of Tetris Attack would be the end of me, for sure. Also, GI Joe arcade with co-op would be sweet.

I have all of these games(and mostly everything else) for my PC. I can play most of them online to a degree with friends via Mame 32k or ZSNES, but they are a pain to set up and lag out sometimes. I will gladly pay for convienence if Microsoft brings out the games I want to play.

Me and Josh rocked a marathon session of SF2 Turbo Championship the other night. Not quite CVS2 but still rad. 360 controllers suck for this btw.

Oh, how IAWTP.

Since I'm a completely obsessive collector of just about every system under the planet, I tend to avoid buying retro compilations or re-releases. Why bother buying any nes re-releases on gba or the upcoming virtual console if I already own or plan on buying the original release?

There are two exceptions to this, though:

XBLA. I think the achievements and the leaderboards are more than worth the generally paltry amount that the games cost.

Arcade games that never really had a good home port. MAME is excellent and all, but I really like owning a physical copy of a game.

In Diff's defense, the subtitle is "are you rebuying?" If he never played the game before and never bought it before, then he's not rebuying.

Come to think of it, I'd buy a Tetris on XBLA with all the trimmings the second it was uploaded to us.

Sure. I'm very much a fan of the classics! I've bought plenty of the classic game compilations over the years--some for multiple platforms, even.

Right now, I'm focusing on getting a lot of the classic packs on PSP, as a lot of the older games (particularly late 1970s to mid 1980s) lend themselves nicely to "pick up and play" portable entertainment. So far this year, I've purchased Midway Arcade Treasures: Extended Play, Capcom Classics Collection Remixed, and Gradius Collection. I also got Namco Museum Battle Collection when it came out last year (and Pinball Hall of Fame, if you want to include pinball). In the next few weeks, Capcom Classics Collection Reloaded, Activision Hits Remixed, EA Replay, Sega Genesis Collection, and Metal Slug Anthology will all be released for PSP; I'm looking forward to getting these as well.

Other than that, I'll usually buy a classic game compilation if it offers games that I like but haven't played in many years, or I've never played but were interested in trying, or (in the case of games I own) aren't ported or emulated very well already.
