Totem/mr fangs does most of his art in run down/none used areas. He does get commissioned to do work on some places where he'll do a mural on the project area. Next time i'm in the area I'll take pics if they are still there. If you do see stuff in public its public domain type stuff like electrical boxes, signs, mail boxes, billboards.
Even public domain stuff, tax payers still end up paying for because the city needs to pay people to clean up the stuff that people stick up/paint/tag etc.
I have zero problem if its commisioned art, in art shows, etc., fo'sho.
Yeah i hear what you're saying with the property defacing so far i dont intend on destroying anything pretty for my art...
I wont get anymore onto this touchy topic :D
I don't consider putting ghost or stickers like sats on telaphone poles and bathrooms to be defacing anything.

I see the public domain stuff the same as when it comes voting time. Everywhere you look there are banners, billboards, stickers, signs for all these people EVERYWHERE. Tax dollars goto pay for some of that stuff and people have to clean that mess also.
There are some basic rules for ethical steet art/graffiti artists about what is cool and not cool to paint on.

well..I tag, I bomb- yeah. I make a point not to deface straight up suburbia, I don't paint trees or fences, elementary schools or churces/religious places. Most "Personal Property..." Places where there are a lot of younger kids...personally i couldn't live with myself knowing if i tagged a school or something with something like my name. I enjoy looking at tags and stickers. I'm doing it for my own personal benefit. I could defend art here at length but I'm not going to. You don't like graffiti, or street art, cool. But you can't stop people from doing it. There's always going to be some mofo out there with a sharpie drawing on shit.

But their are 'tagging rules' you're supposed to follow, but theres always kids out there that just spray shit on on everything cause they have been playing to many crappy video games and think its cool..
I also enjoi looking at tags, and i love when i come across a cute little sticker at the bus stop, that stuff makes my day!
I wanna be a day maker... As long as i like what i draw, and it stays on bus stops and bathroom (and places like that) its all good, no harm done..
Its only stickers.. if someone hates it that much they can always rip it down.. it wont leave much of a mess like paint.. no worries mate;)
I can't wait for the end of midterms so i can start making more!
