If you think Carpenter is nearly as good as he's been in the NL, you don't know what you're talking about. I'll concede that he'd be 4.5 - 4.75, happy?

Every team participates in the free agent market to some extent. The Yankess just do it way more than everyone else, including the Red Sox. I'll admit they have seemed to alter thier priorities this past year to value young players, but it hasn't stopped them from going and aquiring any players they might need while subsidising contracts of those they don't. They just threw money at Bmore to get a promising young reliever. If you're using Beckett as an example it's a shitty one because he's still only 25 or 26 and doesn't have an outrageous salary. Obviously the Sox are not going to operate on the level of the Twins or Oakland. The DM move was big, but there were reasons they had to do it that I already went over. To bring one back up though, it's very important to make inroads into the Japanese market right now (which the Yankees currently have a lock on). The Sawx can't let that advantage continue to build till it is too late.
The Red Sox don't have as much money as the Yankees. You're an idiot if you think otherwise. Fenway sells out and has the highest ticket prices, but it's also 20k seats smaller than Yankee stadium. Stadium revenue isn't even that big in the scheme of things. YES will generate much more profit than NESN. They operate in every home in the largest media market in the US. New England does not come close to that, so NESN will never generate the money that YES can.
lol at thinking the Yankees lose money. You can quote all the numbers you want, but everyone knows they aren't losing anything.
I think those stats are great. What misguided point are you attempting to make with them?
Pretty much but NL lineups are made differently anyways (the whole bunting, pitcher batting, bench importance thing). As for Carpenter..he was hardly the best pitcher for the Cards in the playoffs. Suppan was better. Weaver was better ..ugh.
Here is a move that is close to being made according to ESPN Radio:

Buzz: ESPN Says Peavy Headed to Braves
While appearing on ESPN Radio, ESPN.com’s Jerry Crasnick reports that the Braves are close to acquiring Jake Peavy from the Padres in exchange for 2B Marcus Giles, RHP Horacio Ramirez and C Jarrod Saltalamacchia.
Wow. Trading Peavy is dumb.
heh..looks like that Peavy to Braves rumor was phony. Crasnick said he was never on ESPN Radio and it was all some miscommunication.
I heard a rumor that the Sox arn't going to sign Matsuzaka and only put in such a high bid to keep the Yankees from grabbing him. Supposedly they don't have to pay the $51mil if they don't sign him. Not sure how true that may be, but it's not a bad tactic.
In other news, Phillies sign former Marlins player Wes Helms to platoon with Nunez at 3B. I'm also hearing that Randy Wolf may end up being a Met this year.

Behold the Fat Pussy Toad
I posted up a little about it before but I may be getting the chance to try out for the AA Phillies next Spring...I dunno what my chances are but from I understand it'll be an individual try-out and the guy can hype me up for it. I'm going to be working my ass off over the off-season, wish me luck my fellow TNL baseball fans. My swing has improved vastly over the past few months but I still have some work to do on my front leg mechanics. It would probably be good to start a good weight training program and be out doing hard-sprints regularely to try and squeeze some extra speed out of my already fast legs....man, this is nuts, I'm nervous already.
