IGN seems to like it, EGM trashed it, waiting til someone I trust weighs in. It looks like it could be fun in action, though, moreso than the shots at least. I also thought Climax looked boring in screens, and seeing it in action and playing it for the first time definitely proved otherwise. I'd like for this to be good, but I'm saving my enthusiasm til I hear more.
This is $29.99 @ Best Buy this week if anyone's interested.
is it going to be anything like the original afterburner? cause that whole fix-path thingie is a bit outdated in the current generation of ace combat.
If you want Ace Combat, play Ace Combat. The AB-style gameplay hasn't hurt AB Climax any.Quote:

M'eh, it doesn't throw dozen enemy fighters at you every second, but I wouldn't call Ace Combat or any of the console flight games boring (yea, I actually liked Aero Elite:rolleyes:). Then again I also play a lot of PC flight sims.
First impressions: absolutely unappealing presentation. Story and characters? I don't care. Thankfully, you can skip this stuff. The designs do nothing for me. Visually, so far, everything has been fairly uninteresting. The gameplay has been decent enough, and yes, when you hold R down, it's pretty damn fast. Mission based gameplay, though? Not feeling it in theory. Glad I didn't throw down for this right now. I'm gonna play more before I write it off, but so far, I'm not feeling it.
It reminds me a little of Blue Lightning, which can't be a bad thing.
I suck at it. Got it last week and I'm still on level 3. I don't know what's up with this but my brain just doesn't want to process it. It's frustrating.
