What the hell? Definitley looks interesting, I wonder where its taken from?
It doesn't look quite right to me, but then again I'd never have guessed at the new Zelda style either. The big oddball thing, though, was the Gameboy logo at the start. Why was the old Gameboy logo attached to a GBA game?
Still, no complaints if it's real. I mean, after Yoshi's Island and maybe Mario 3, they don't really have anything left to do as a retread. They'll have to do something new eventually. :)

i dunno. i mean, i doubt that's a GBA game if it's real cause the game clearly has celshaded characters and is clearly 3D.
my god, a new 2D Mario on GameCube hardware can be by far one of the most amazing games we see in our life times.
i really hope this is true, but i don't have my hopes up. i got the movie from Miyamoto Shrine, but their source is Nintendojo so...:(
here's hoping.
Something about the Princess didn't look right... I smell a fake.
As do I.
I dont know what it is, but I somehow picture this as a mini-game that takes advantage of the GBA->GC linker
that, and the logo twirls twards you... hmmmQuote:

The princess in the intro is 3D, and Mario in-game is 3D, but the world looks like it could be either 2D or 3D, and the pipes look very much like a flat bitmap. Could be wrong, though...Quote:

If it is fake, it's quite an impressive one. One I wouldn't mind turned into a full-fledged game, and one I hope is real.
mostly everything appears to be 3D. the hills in the backround are 3D from what i can tell. one thing for sure is that the floor is 3D.Quote:

"Yep, there's some talented guys out there. Was it just a scam to give Nintendojo some hits? I don't know, but anyway, someone found this at the IGN board. Watch the old Zelda video from IGNcube:
http://cubemedia.ign.com/media/space...ies/zelda1.mov
You can hear Matt going "Woohoo" at the end of it and they put EXACTLY the same "Woohoo" on the Mario video just before he jumped. It seems they just used the background sounds from that old Zelda video!
It's clearly got exactly the same applause as well (Just after Matts woohoo). Download it and compare them. "
well, he seems to be right from what i can hear. anyways, that was lame. who ever made that is pretty fuckin talented though.
That looks really interesting, yet really bizarre at the same time :p I don't know if I'm going to like seeing Mario in Bizarro-like visual style, if that indeed is what it looks like. Then again, it is Mario, so I'm sure it'll be good either way. I don't know why it would take this long to show up though, and I don't know how they could pull of the 'big E3 backscreen' look if it were fake, let alone anyone be able to MAKE that unless they were a programmer.
Good. 3D is Mario's home now anyways.
That "woohoo" sounds to me like Mario's "Woohoo" in Mario 64 after he jumps twice in a row. In this video, he didn't jump twice.. more reason it's a fake. But Lucas (I'm chating with him now), thinks it's Matt Woohooing, which it could be.Quote:

if he was online right now i would just IM him and have him confirm it.Quote:

The title might be an indice for proving that it's a fake:
Land=>World=>Universe!?!
It's sound a little corny for a new mario game.
Anyone else notice that mario was running like sonic in that video, with his arms back and all.
Now that I hear both videos again, I'm stumpt, Matts "woohoo" DID sound like the "WooHoo" in the Mario video. But it ASLO sounds like Mario too... Don't know man, Lucas may be on to somthin. I'm on the fence.Quote:

AND, you here applause at that stage too... they COULD be applauding to see Mario, but it sounds a LOT like the Zelda video
yes, i spotted that immediatley.Quote:

well, thing is, it doesn't sound like Charles Martinet at all. and also, when Matt says Woohoo and you think it's Mario, Mario has no reason to say woohoo.Quote:

honestly, i think you should get over it. i'd loooove to be wrong, but i don't think that's the case this time around.
I thought the title itself was odd, "Super Mario's Universe." Notice the apostrophe. Seeing as how it was Super Mario World, Super Mario Land, I doubt it would be Super Mario's Universe.
That video was truly frightening.
It's fake. The whole style of the "intro" is completely unlike any of Nintendo's stuff, and the design of the princess if completely off.
Plus, the rotating Mario head as the "lives" icon is too tacky for any sort of Miyamoto game.
All it is is a clever render by some college student or 3D professional with too much time on his hands. Did you even wonder why it's so short?
"Get over it"
I didn't say I didn't think it's a fake. I do think it's a fake, but I do think it looks cool, and would be happy if it wasn't.
Like the Megaman X7 trailer?Quote:

the trailer that was playing at E3 (also the one i have on my E3 Tape) is pretty long. about as long as your standard minute or so long game trailer.Quote:

So why does it only say "Game Boy" at the beginning? Where's the "Advance" or "Gamecube" logo?
Definite fake to me.
I think I won't be stopping by Nintendojo for my news quite as often.Quote:
A new Super Mario game for the GBA? It appears so, and it's "cel shaded," or seems to be in a "cel-shaded" or "Paper Mario-esque" style. We're not sure of what to think of it, but what we do know for sure is that it seems legit, as our sources have told us to expect more videos on the way.
We are not concrete on the legitimacy of this video, however, we feel that this is something real and an actual title. We're looking into it.
Really? I wish someone would have placed it somewhere on the net to watch. The only I could find had a link posted here, and was about 30 seconds, if I remember right.Quote:

The drawings, Mario's sprite, all have a westernized drawing style to them. Unless Nintendo handed over their Mario franchise to Retro Studios, some guy (or girl) who thought he/she could draw Mario and Peach made this. Definite fake. And the background sounds (the japanese voices) seem to be put in there deliberately to make it seem more authentic. Where the heck would this have been shown anyway? The last Japanese show was the Spring TGS right?

I think Gamespot had a decent streaming video of the trailer somewhere... streaming videos aren't part of the Gamespot Complete program I think...Quote:

I think I like video game news sites that put out unconfirmed stuff, because maybe one out of 100 time, it's legit and you wouldn't have seen it if it wasn't for the sites liberal "is it real or isn't it" coverage
It was pretty obvious to me from the start considering there's no way the GBA could handle those visuals. Otheriwse that's the only flaw of what was a very craftily made prank.
Goddamnit. I wanted this to be real. :(
the Gameboy title screen could have been the ending from a video shown before this mario thing...
I've never really went to Nintendojo anyways, but after last year's pre-E3 Nintendo press conference "incident", they lost all respectability.Quote:

It's fake. The GBA just can not handle that.
I wanna know also.Quote:

first question after the Nintendo press conference went to Nintendojo. guy stands up and asks his question in the most broken japanese you'll ever hear. so bad that not one japanese person there understood what he was saying.Quote:

so not only did he make an complete ass of himself, but he asked the stupidest question you could ask at the Nintendo Press Conference..."Miyamoto, do you like to work for Nintendo?"
what a dumb ass.
ouch

Now, I guess this is some pretty concrete proof.
Crafty, ne?

Case closed.
Case closed, and we all figured it was a fake, but damn if it isn't the most impressive fake I've seen. Beats the Ikaruga rumor by a long shot, just due to the sheer amount of work that video must have taken.
"This is my dream"? Hell, it's mine too. Although I'd prefer a more Nintendo-ey art style to the characters. :)
My one big question- How'd the shorter version of the video get out? This fake, when viewed in its entirety, is fair play as far as I'm concerned. The shortened version without the giveaway frame is just unfair to those of us who want a new 2D Mario, no matter how easy it is to figure out that it isn't real.
