where did you hear that?
when I saw the boxed one it looked cheaper/older & the plastic wrapped one looked better so I thought that was the newer one.

Maybe it was the box you saw, cause all the boxes I've seen look well put together. I also think it says on the box how it at least cools the system better.

Status on yours ElCapitan? Nyko sent me the boxed version for review.

An extended warranty is the best way to deal with overheating 360's.

I got mine back around October or so and it has been running fine. A few weeks ago, I took it off to check for the any burn marks and there were none to be found. Still working fine so far.

I have had an Intercooler for about a month and I've had no problems with it whatsoever. No burn marks, no melted plastic, nothing.

When I bought my 360 I thought an Intercooler was a mandatory purchase. Now I'm hearing all these horror stories and I don't know what to believe. Someone please give me guidance.

I guess the first batch was a defect (the ones in blister packs)? It seems the ones in stores packaged in box are fine and working.

My 360 works fine without it.
