Leeching off my neighbor's wireless

So my neighbors have a wireless router set up (Belkin) with no security on it. Last week, I was able to use it for whatever no problem on my laptop. I had to specify the IP, gateway, and DNS to get it to work, but it did work.

Then we had an outage in the area for Cablevision and now, I can't get net access on the laptop wirelessly anymore. It connects to the network fine, but doesn't offer any real net access. What am I missing here? Do they maybe need to reset their router before I can hop on properly?

I can't connect to the router either (through 192.168.0.1), so do you think they changed some router settings? Is there any way to pull the settings I need to input from what connection I have?

Networks have never been my cup of tea, so any help would be appreciated. I probably left out a ton of info, so ask as needed.

Heh, well, if I can avoid having to deal with a wireless network in my own place, I'd like to (been nothing but trouble for me).

It's something I can live without, but if I can get it working, I'd like to. Not complaining that it's not working, I'd just like to try and get it working if I could. I'll live and use our own connection if I can't fix it.

Not like anyone of you don't do it anyway. :P

... if their bandwidth exceeds a certain amount per month, won't it cost them extra?

I'm just using it for IRC and checking interwebs stuff in the game room. Any downloads and torrents are left for my PC.

I don't know why you're having so much trouble with having to set shit up. I had more trouble setting a wired router up than a wireless.

I bought an el-cheapo D-Link for $30 from Circuit City and all I had to do was put in a username and password to set it up.

I didn't have to fuck around with anything to get my DS online with it even (the only reason I bought a wireless in the first place).

Are you gonna use it to play Mariokart Online DS?

If the neighbor has left his connection unencrypted then I don't think it its illegal, but going in and modifying his router settings just so he can get net access? That's just bad mojo.
