PEOPLE WITH DICKS PLAY XBOX 360!
Viva Pinata is going to be awesome. 100% of the Wii games I have played are not.
Viva Pinata is Animal Crossing with microtransactions
The Viva Pinata video almost gave me a seizure. Too much gay horses and bright colors.
Viva Pinata will be the biggest flop that RARE ever releases...most of the general public thinks it is a joke.
"You have played 1. That hardly makes you an expert."
How many have you played? Besides, how can you be an expert at liking stuff? That's the dumbest thing I have ever heard.
Yeah, because I know at least two people who enjoyed Grabbed By the Ghoulies.
Plus, I was at Gamestop last night, and I saw 100 people simultaneously laugh at the idea of playing "Viva Pinata." The gamestop clerk told the crowd (all people waiting to buy Gears of War) that they didn't have Gears of War....BUT they got copies of Viva Pinata in...and the whole crowd laughed out loud and said "Yeah, like anybody would actually buy that piece of shit."
So yeah...I think RARE has a huge flop on their hands.
Granted Viva Pinata was never meant for those people anyway.
lol served imo
Uh, it has a tie-in TV show... it'll do at least as well as most liscenced games, which do well. Even something that has no business being a game like That's So Raven manages to move a couple hundred thousand copies. It probably won't do as well as MS hopes, but it'll likely be far from a bomb.
hahaha...actually, it really pissed my friend and I off too. We had our pre-order slip in hand and we decided it wasn't worth it to wait in line with those people...so we left. I'll just pick up Gears of War another day, when I am finished with Phantasy Star and Contra :)
Sue your parents for neglect for not making sure you had Contra to play.
Seriously.
haha...yeah...this was back in the day when I would get two games a year. One game for my birthday and one game for Christmas. So, naturally I would pick the newest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle game or something. I suppose being denied games is what has turned me into a video game addict who buys way too many games as an adult....
The whole thing reminds me of my "Literary Theory and Criticism" professor who always wore a different Disney watch every day (even though he is clearly about 70-80 years old). He always claimed he wanted a Mickey Mouse watch as a kid, and his parents didn't buy him one. So, once he became an adult he started buying every Mickey Mouse watch he could find..kinda weird :)
I was reading in another thread about the bullshit $699 Gamestop Wii bundles. Anyone know if the stores will be pulling that crap too? I was planning on getting my system from EB, but will camp at Walmart instead if they try to pull that crap.
Hrm, if Nintendo hits their shipment goals in the millions that they are hoping for, and my local store only gets the 16 that they have preordered, something is seriously wrong. But hey, if they don't have them there are a dozen more stores in the area that will.
Has there been anyone to confirm the assload of Wiis for the US that NOA has said they'd have? I mean to say, there's no reason to be subjected to a bundle when you can easily get one system by itself a week or two after launch with ease if you can.
I'm not worried about bundling at EB/Gamestop. It's a non-issue. Just be prepared for them to ram down your throat every single possible peripheral and game they can can talk you into.

The Quote is 4 million world wide by Christmas (or end of December). NA is supposed to get the largest chunk of that, the only numbers that have come out is that Japan is getting 400K for launch and again the American launch is supposed to be much more than that. I have to imagine if you can't walk in and get one on day one that in the following weeks you can. They're supposed to be shipping between 100 - 150k to each territory each week after launch. If they're shipping that many and you still can't get one then holy shit is the wii doing well
I have yet to see a shortage of DS lites. I find them everywhere in pink, white, and black.
For bbobb, "this country" means Japan. Nintendo really should consider syphoning off a few hundred thousand from here and sending them overseas. A shortage of product in one territory matched by a surplus in another is just plain bad distribution.
James
D'oh! I forgot he's in Japan.
Game Doctors! I remember those things, they sucked. I never could get a straight answer on why they were being pushed so hard, either. I just assumed it involved truckloads of hookers for the corporate offices.
James
Had to have been. Those things were incredible shit when most game stores at the time had the professional resurfacers.
How come no one has those any more, not even cd or dvd places. There was a time where everyone one of those style stores had one. I only ask cause a friend bought a tutorial DVD online off ebay and when he got it it was scratched to hell still plays but skips from time to time in one particular area where theres a huge scratch. Back in the day you could have taken that dvd to a Gamestop or any cd/dvd place and gotten it resurfaced and bam perfect again. I wish places still had them.
They were being pushed cuz they probably had a contract with them or something. When an employee sells one, they get a commission on each. It was like $2 commission for each sale. I remember getting like $40 on one paycheck (get paid every 2 weeks). $20 per week, 10 a week, not bad at all. Whats worse was when I think Xbox launched, we included that shit with the bundles. People started to complain so Corporate decided to stop bundling it.
Nintendo delivers Wii's in ice cream truck. They even open it up to show how its packaged.

BTW, Wii Sports comes in those cardboard sleeves. NO DVD case for the included game.
OMG I hATE NITENdo,nocase
iLounge, an Apple/iPod website, posted a three part article on the Wii. It's more...I dunno, personal then other articles, so here it is.
Part 1: http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/bac...t-i-unpacking/
Part 2: http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/bac...ace-and-games/
Part 3: http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/bac...elda-in-depth/
Shows the Wii being unpacked, and has stuff on Excite Truck, Wii Sports, and Zelda.
Not much text, but pretty good pictures. Lots of new stuff, even if the actual game pictures are of bad quality.
I was planning on making a custom DVD case insert for Wii Sports, using another Wii game's insert as a template and putting in the graphics and stuff scanned in from the cardboard case. I'll post it up here if anyone else would like one.
I'm getting pretty good at making DVD inserts, as long as I have good original artwork. *points at avatar* *ahem*
If you know anyone who works at a game store, you can probably get them to toss you one without any problem. Display boxes are plentiful.
James
well, owing to the fact that i got the most trade in value from cd warehouse, im not getting a wii at launch now, since im going to wait to get it from them. so im hoping very much for the glut of wii's to come down the pike so someone can get one, decide they dont like it and i can swoop in and get it. soon brothers, soon.
Nope not anymore. All my old co-workers have probably left, fired or transfered. So if anyone can hook me up, I'd appreciate it. I'll cover shipping.
BTW, no Nintendo World Store midnight launch (sorry JohnPV). Instead, TRU in Times Square will be having a midnight launch party and Fils-Aime will be handing out the first Wii at TRU instead of flagship store.
WTF? Guess that TRU/Nintendo partnership is stronger than I thought. So when is the NWS going to start selling their damn Wiis? I'd like to get my Wii Saturday night, so I don't have to go into the city twice next weekend. :( I wouldn't have even reserved at the NWS if I knew they were going to jump ship to TRU.
Bullshit.
Probably regular store hours. I dont know what it is..9? 10? I still want to know if my GS by me is having a midnight. I want to pick up all 3 (2 at once with my gf and the third will be 30-60 mins later. Same goes for if regular opening). This way i dont have to make an extra trip even though its like 5 mins away.
Here is a Wii Sports game insert
http://img489.imageshack.us/img489/3...isportsby7.jpg
It has that European number thing. I'll probably photoshop it or if someone wants to do it. Now I gotta find glossy paper. I wonder if photopaper that HP sometimes gives out for free would work.
Here is one I made with the US ESRB rating. I'm heading to Target in a few minutes. You can get those DVD from them as use it as a case.
hmmm thats really not a bad idea
This has me a bit pissed off because they're fucking story changed so much. When I pre-ordered my Wii it was "We're opening at midnight and Reggie will be there to hand out systems." then it became "We going to do a midnight opening but just for pre-orders." then it was "We're gonna open at 6 am on Sunday." and now it's "We're opening regular hours and not doing anything special."
Which is so fucking asinine, here you have the official Nintendo store that has something like 1,000 pre-orders on the system not doing anything, meanwhile the gamestop by me is getting like 16 systems in and doing a midnight opening and huge event. I just don't get it.
FUckers. The Target I went to had shit! No Wii giftcards and no DVDs. I'm going to go to the one near a mall (Queens Center Mall). If that Target doesnt have, I'll need a white DVD case.
I need to fine 11 x 17 paper.
What do you need 11x17 for? A dvd insert is just shy of 11 inches, so it should print fine on regular paper unless your printer needs a large margin at the edge of the page.
If you still need it though, most copy shops will sell you a few sheets of loose 11x17 sheets so you don't have to buy a full pack.
So, is there any talk yet about how Nintendo World is handling their preorders?
Midnight at TRU? Midnight at NW? When store opens on Sunday?

I don't like these.Quote:
• "Software downloaded from the Wii Shop Channel is licensed to you, not sold" (pg. 25)
• "If you use the messaging features of the Wii console, you need to understand that Nintendo may monitor your use and share certain information (i) as required by law, (ii) where necessary to protect the company, its customers or its employees, (iii) as necessary to provide the services. [Big Brother is watching -Ed.]" (pg. 47)
Haven't software licenses been sold for PC programs since forever? I always remember them using that exact phrasing. And what's the big deal about the message viewing? AIM does it and I'm pretty sure MSN does, too.
Well, it's wrong when PC software pretends we're going to abide by their stupid licensing rules, and it's wrong when AIM and MSN spies on your conversations. Nintendo joining a long list of people doing things in stupid ways doesn't make them smart.
What are the terms of use on Live Arcade games, anyway?
James
Thanks, guys. Now i dunno if I can come out for Saturday's gathering. I haven't much money to begin with, and I already put the money down for the Wii...
It's really retarded. And we're probably going to find a place to crash on Saturday night. Shit if I know where. Like to stay at a good hotel, but not get lubricated royally by a high rate.
If I could change my reserve to anywhere, I would. Most of the pretext was some sort of midnight launch deal where we could two for one TNL drink/get Wii.
God damnit Nintendo. This is a bad sign when you're not even supporting your fucking flagship store.
I think I'm going to harrass the people at the World Store by phone until they change their fucking minds.
Damn, No all nighter for me. The GS near me is not having a midnight launch and is opening at 9am. Thats 9 hours less of Wii time!
Against all better judgment, I will be out and about on Sunday. If I can get a Wii without standing in line, I'll end up with one. If I have to wait more than 15 minutes, fuck it. I'll wait a couple hours for Sneak King though if I have to.
The drive thru line at BK will be insane.
I'm hitting there at about 6am. I'll grab an artery clogging Enormous Omelet Sandwich and the 360 games.
This sounds like the plan of choice. BK Breakfast and then Nerdline 2006 at Target.
Just because I can join/wank to it doesn't mean it isn't incest.
Just because she's 17 doesn't mean she isn't hot.
Illegal or perverted by itself doesn't make it not sexy, but I'd still like to see James try to convince a girl he's dating to have lesbian incest.

Some VC questions answered. The biggest is that the game are untouched from the original version.
Wanted to share this.
I just called my local Target to ask about Wii inventory, to see if it matched the numbers that were on that site that supposedly lists the number of units each Target is getting. I asked someone in Electronics and she responded, "I heard we were getting around 200," which matches the 210 number that the site lists. But to make sure she hadn't just heard that number from customers, I asked her, "Where did you hear that?"
"Uh huh."
Pause.
"Where did you hear that number?"
"Yep."
And I hung up.
What's everyone getting besides Zelda? I was planning on getting three titles and my second is going to be Excite Truck...but I'm having a hard time deciding what the third should be. I kinda want Metal Slug Anthology but I'm not too sure about the Wii controls for that, and Wario Ware Smooth Moves looks sexy as well.
Trauma Center. I'd sell something on ebay if you really want that $20. Rayman has thrown up in my face enough time to bring me to my senses. It sucks that everything is going to be stupid mini-games. It's a reasonably bad launch, but at least there are a few games with potential.
I will read those VC questions as soon as i get home from work. I'd better be disappointed.
I just want Zelda, Wii Sports, and Trauma Center.
Trauma Center is pretty much the same game, right? As in it's not really a sequel. That's the only thing that scares me about it as I wouldn't really want to just buy the same game again. And I had NO idea it's 20 bucks. That's nice. Very nice.
I was going to get Metal Slug but the gf is bitching at me cuz I have Metal Slug 4 and 5 for the PS2. After seeing some Wii experience videos for Zelda, I think I'm getting it. Rayman caught my attention as well.
Wario Ware looks nice and looks hilarious, but its not a launch game.
Since I'm bringing the Wii to Thanksgiving dinner at the gfs relatives house, I think Wii Sports will hold us over.
Finding Wii-mote and nunchucks is going to be a bitch to find. I just need 1 additional but I plan on buying 2 more (making 4 total) and then once gobble-gobble is over, return two of them. Only problem is that I read that stores havent ordered enough accessories. Say for instance a store is getting 100 Wiis, they only ordered 20-30 wiimotes. Nunchucks is half the amount of the wiimotes. Classic controllers is about the same amount of nunchucks.
Hopefully my GS will have extra controllers when I pick up my Wii on Sunday.
Some nice impressions about the Wii controls in Zelda. They're good to hear.
1up - The Wii Remote Controller
I didn't know that these buttons were even being used.Quote:
The Verdict
Zelda doesn't play at all like a game that had a new control scheme grafted on well into the game's development. The Wii functionality is both intuitive and incredibly beneficial to the game -- frankly, it's difficult to imagine going back to the clumsy GameCube controller after a few hours of time with the Wii version. We're sure the GC game will be perfectly enjoyable, but on Wii, Twilight Princess becomes the fastest and most fluid Zelda game ever.

The - Button
The tiny - (minus) button near the Home key serves a single function: It opens up a status screen that reveals Link's current quest progress and allows you to save the game or set options.

The + Button
Choosing weapons, however, is a task left to the + (plus) button on the other side of the Home key. Here you're given a circular menu of tools and weapons, which can be assigned by pointing the Remote at the item you wish to use and pressing the proper button (the B trigger or a D-pad directional). It's probably the quickest and easiest selection menu ever to appear in a console game, soured only slightly by the fact that the A button serves as the cancel button (a function provided by the B trigger in all other menu screens).
It's $20 more than the DS version, not $20.
Yeah, I read Finch's post wrong.

There are several games where switching items/weapons is holding a button and pressing a direction on the D-pad. This person is an idiot. Or I am not reading this right...
Wii sports would be enough to hold me over till the Gamefly rentals of Excite Truck and Red Steel. Is Warioware even a launch title? If it is, I'll be getting that too.
No online Tetris Attack, no reason to buy the Wii till Metroid Prime 3 :(
BTN
That game is the biz
That was exactly the first game I was thinking out. You = winner
