Gears of War

I shouldn't ask who is going to be playing this, because I have a feeling this game will fill up my friends list in no time. The multiplayer looks awesome, and being that it is only 4 on 4 makes it more personal than a 16 player room in just my opinion. Tuesday bitches, and we should have the prettiest, bloodiest, multiplayer game yet. Hopefully everything runs smooth and there are no online dropping issues like with Ubisoft. Being that Microsoft is in charge there is a lot more hope for it to be done right.

You know I will be getting this and you can expect me to be on the second I get home with this game. Unless my store for some odd reason doesn't get it in, or gets it late, I should be one no later than 4 or 5 central time. Homework be damned, I'll play this game all night if I can.

You know I'm there. Something has to fill the void that Splinter cell: Double agent left. :lol:

I'm on without a doubt. If you haven't checked them out already, go watch the HD multiplayer vids that went up on Gametrailers yesterday. Some of them are damn near mindboggling. Have you guys seen the orbital laser that rains down death? Absurdly powerful, but it needs constant recharging and you're a sitting duck (for a well coordinated opposing team) while it's in use. Of course, the SP game remains almost entirely under wraps, and will likely stay that way until release.

I will be there as soon as humanly possible. All day on the 8th and the 12th for sure. With as much in between and afterwards as possible.

I'm keeping myself away from anymore pictures and videos from here on out. I'm not sure if it would be best to go through the story alone or do it online co-op. I'd be great to go through the game fresh with another person to live through the game with someone. They've managed to keep just about the entire game a secret, I can only imagine what's in the later part of the game...

I think the last game I looked forward to this much was San Andreas.

I'm definitely down with doing a co-up run, which probably allows for a better experience on higher difficulty levels.

I'm really looking foward to the Co-op also, I really enjoyed the Co-op in Ghost Recon and that was only for 4 maps, this is the entire game.

For sure. GRAW had some really great co-op and it wasn't even following a main story and even had gimped controls compared to the main game. Tuesday could not come soon enough.

I'm gonna go ahead and officially announce that it is fucking on tomorrow night. As much as I am excited about the single player, I doubt I will even get around to it till later in the week. Im kicking it into multiplayer the second I get home so I can start owning all you fools.

Supposedly I can bring a guest online so EvilMog and I can both play. Hopefully playing online splitscreen doesnt cripple you like in GRAW.

I got the call last night that we would be getting ours in today, but if something goes wrong and I don't get it today, I'm going to flip out. There is no way in hell I would go to my classes tomorrow, as I still have a lab to go through today and I am already getting the need to ditch for this game.

I was doing errands and decided to swing by the local gamestop on the way home to see if they were doing a midnight release. They got like 200 of them about a half hour before I got there! I feel like it's Christmas.

Best Buy sells 'em tomorrow, they got a shitload of Guitar Hero II's though.

Sorry, I was getting too pissed off with not being able to kill shit. Decided to go to the single player to find out how aiming works in this game. I'm thinking you have to aim a little below what you want to shoot at.

We needed a break anyway, most of us need to eat.

So far the online play runs really smooth, I didn't find any problems getting kills. I'm with everyone else though, I'd like to know what determines when two enemies with full health go head to head unloading on each other, what determines who gets the kill? I'll be back on later.

Thats really all I can say to describe this game. There were some awsome matches tonight. We'll have to try out some of the other multiplayer modes tomorrow night. This is one of those games that is so fun, you don't even care if you lose.

Seriously. The chainsaw gun is one of the best ideas in years.

Yep. I like the tight maps -- there's very little to learn aside from weapon placement. It's all strategy (and, my downfall, aiming).

It also makes 2 on 2, and even 2 on 1, still enjoyable as you are wandering arund a massive map without spotting anyone the entire time.

So who is playing tonight? Tonight should be madness with all the people who are just getting theirs today. I'm gonna be home around 1pm central. Games release on Wednesday, standard. Gears and FF12 are the first games I can think of in a long time that haven't.

I agree with Yoshi. Its bullshit that some retailers get the game before others do.

I guess this is one of those times where EB/GS was right in that if you did not reserve it, you aren't getting it.

chux preordered his copy at EB/GS and didn't get it yesterday. I waltzed into my GS with no preorder and got myself a copy with no problems.

Even though I got my copy yesterday, GS and there recording called me a while ago and said that there is some complications with the shipping and we may not receive GOW today, please call before coming to pick up your copy to check availabiltiy. Did election day fuck them up?

I read on GAF that there was quite a large shipping mixup with FedEx. If your copy hadn't come in, you would probably have gotten a $5 discount when you picked it up the next day.

Good games guys. It was cool playing with some of you guys for the first time. Poor Yoshi found the wrong side of my chainsaw quite a bit early on but soon got some curb stompin revenge. :lol: One time Yoshi and I were duking it out and right before he landed the kill shot I hit him with an exploding arrow and while he was curb stomping me the arrow blew him into pieces. Good times for sure.

anyone going to be playing more tonight? I'm craving some more versus action.

AMAZING! This game is gonna keep me busy for a long ass time. There were some great games, good headshots, and tons of chainsawing and curbstomping going on tonight. Too bad my connection was ass tonight and kept dropping me every 30 min or hour.

Most fun I've had playing with a shooter since the first Rainbow Six 3. There are so many rewarding ways of killing opponents that'll keep me going with this game for a long time.

Good games tonight for sure. ElCapitan blew my head off with the sniper rifle so many times...lol

Awesome game. I am stunned how good it looks and how smooth it is online.

This game is the fucking greatest online. I've gotten a lot better at it, the levels are making more sense, the strategy is starting to kick in. Runs smooth as hell, levels load really fast, just a blast with all the ways to attack each other.

I want to play :(

The best is that if there are too many people for 4 vs 4, you could always start an online co-op campaign with another TNL straggler.

Going to make another attempt to get this later today.

OK, I picked up this game today and I have played it for about an hour so far. It seems pretty cool so far, except for the fact that I don't know how to play it. So, how exactly are you SUPPOSED to play this game?

I'm not sure if its just because I never play these types of shooter games, or if there is a strategy to the gameplay that I am not understanding. I was led to believe that you must duck behind objects and then you push the R trigger and the guy will actually shoot the enemies without giving up his cover. However, every time I do that the dude doesn't shoot shit. He just ends up randomly shooting a wall and wasting my bullets. Then if I push the L trigger it will bring up a target so I can aim at the enemies, but I get shot up all to hell. So, is there a strategy that I am just not getting about the game? So far too, it seems like his health regenerates...so is the whole strategy just to use the L trigger to aim at enemies and shoot them, take a whole bunch of damage while aiming, and then duck to regain energy (and then repeat this over and over)? Or is there a way to actually keep your cover in this game and shoot enemies without resorting to using the L trigger to aim?

I'm just wondering, because for all the hype this game gets, it just seems like I am playing the game wrong.

Even played co-op with some random dumbass who started saying I needed to read faqs and such when he kept getting killed on the last boss over and over again. He was standing in the dark, and the kryll kept killing him. For whatever reason, he couldn't hear me.

Ghost Reacon, Oblivion, Dead Rising, Call of Duty? Uh, no thanks. Those surely are NOT reasons to own a 360. I do enjoy games, but not those. I'm not gonna argue with you, or continue to high jack the thread. Gears of War is the only real reason to fork out $400 for a 360, which is very VERY unfortunate.
