It took me a minute before I placed my order after I read Wasabi's post. Getting MUA and CoD3 for $30 each pretty much really sealed the deal for me.

Gears is a hard game to learn since it plays so differently from most console shooters.
The best advice is just to keep playing with TNL people that know what they're doing and take notes from the players at the top of the scoreboard. Don't hesitate to ask questions either, if you ever have any.

Saturday's session with M16 Launcher had to be one of the most annoying sessions of Gears of War ever. The guy's really good, but he wouldn't stopped bitching. He complained about shotgun fire, torque bows as switched weapons, and even chainsaw kills. I think he even complained about the long bleed out time.
I hope we never see him again (especially if he's on the opposing team).
Rouge Trooper was pretty annoying also, ElCapitan gave him the boot.
Will all future games be in public rooms? I can really use those achievements.
20 or 30 bleedout time is great. Swapping Torque Bow for the Boltok is stupid.
There was a rumor that the Ranked achievements were going to be updated so that you could get them in unranked games, but I don't think that will actually happen. I would be kind of sad since I'm pretty sure I'd already have all the achievements a loooong time ago, but it'd still be nice.

See, I can use you and Cowdisease in my explanation of why 5 second bleedout isn't quite ideal. I wouldn't mind the Hammerburst being switched out for Boltok, either. It just comes down to the Boltok being totally useless due to it's horrible rate of fire.
I think Torque switches work well, though. Most maps it creates another "destination item" in the middle of the map to choose from. If it wasn't there it would just be everyone scrambling to the Boom or Sniper every round. And on a map like Clocktower, both sides have equal opportunity to get one right away, so there's no real unfairness in it. The only map where one side has an advantage on it is on Escalation, and I think it actually balances more than it unbalances there considering the top usually gets no one-hit weapon spawns while the bottom gets 2 snipes and 4 pairs of grenades.

Bleedout time of 30 seconds... I actually didn't think it was going to be that horrible. I think a max of 10 is good enough but no more.. I was just trying something new and I personally didn't like it...
Tourque for Ass-blaster... yeah.. I am up for anything to switch out for the pistol.. What do you think would be the more favorable swap-out for the pistol.. We mostly have TNL people in our rooms so we mind as well all agree or keep it defaulted.
Ranked matches where you can invite? I am up for that... I hate playing ranked matches generally because the people you play with are tool sheds and it's hard to get everyone coordinated into one room...

Lots of people say that Execution with long bleedout is pretty much the same as Warzone, but really it's not. You still have to get up close to kill a downed person. However, with a decent bleedout time your teammates will usually have to be the ones to either pick you up or provide cover fire until you get up. I agree with weeman, but it's also the requirement of teamwork that I like. The worst games are ones where no one talks, everyone does their own thing and no one knows where everyone else is, which the 5 second bleedout time fails to punish.
Also, I don't think anyone enjoys shotgun-only games, but that's basically what 5 second bleedout encourages. It is all-around the best weapon in the game so until it gets nerfed it will continue be the most-used weapon, but 5 second bleedout just forces shotgun use. I realize that might sound like I'm just another whiny bitch that doesn't know how to use a shotty, but anyone that's played with me knows that isn't the case. Gears is a fast-paced tactical game by design, but the 5 second bleedout isn't quite conducive to that type of game.
I'd be fine with a Hammerburst swap for the Boltok. The Boltok is obviously the worst gun in the game and pretty much unusable off-host, but the problem with swapping a Torque Bow for it is that the Torque Bow is the best weapon for most of the maps.
I fucking love the Torque Bow, even if I'm ass with it.
Annex takes fucking FOREVER to play. One round pretty much feels like a regular 5-round match. Also, it's a little less awesome than expected but still a good change of pace.

Warzone is just like execution except that you dont have to be right next to the person to kill them once they are down. You can also not get up after being down except by being revived. I like execution cause you can't kill someone so easily and you can get up after being downed.Quote:

There's nothing "too easy" about getting kills in Warzone. The thing is, your teammates absolutely have to be aware and pick you up. Or you could just not die, that works just as well. It's just a preference anyhow. Warzone lets me play the complete game, if I played 7-round matches I'd be picking up triple-doubles like Jason Kidd.
I'm down for a game tonight and I don't really mind if you host, Cap. I get like a half-full second delay on pretty much every TNL game anyway so it doesn't matter to me if you, K3V, or Netwurked host.
