Which is the best version of Harvest Moon? mostly I have played the one on the Gameboy and liked it. How is Harvest Moon: Save The Homeland? it's a discount title at Circuit City for $19.99 is it worth it? Can someone post your impressions of the PS2 Harvest Moon. The Cel shading looks nice!

You can't even get married in save the homeland. Pick up 64 or back to nature, or better yet, wait for A Beautiful Life on gamecube.

Hmm A Beautiful Life sounds good is it gonna be cel-shaded?
I like the original SNES title, however it's the only one that I've played extensively. It wasn't too complicated, and there was none of that isometric crap.
I'm not that familiar with the game. I just remember hearing people complain about the dating/marriage aspect of the game. BTW, I had the first Harvest Moon game for the GBC, and it sucked. I don't recommend it.Quote:

HM:STH was fun... I'm actually missing it w/o my PS2... I don't know about dating/marrying, as it was the 1st HM I played, but it was plenty of fun what I did play of it...
Yea, I saw it for $20 at the ole' Circuit City but didn't pick it up (much to the dissapointment of the g/f).
I'll probably swing back and pick it up this week.
I've played the snes and psx versions, and they both seemed pretty fun.
Can get a little to "micro-mananagey" at times though.
I tried, but just couldn't get into it. Legend of the River King, however, is a different story. :D
I've only played the PSX version, "Back to Nature." It's fun, but I agree that some parts become too tedious. Eventually, I decided to use a gameshark to help out with the farming finances so I could neglect my crops. ...but going overboard and buying 20 cows still put me in deep ____. :jest:
IMO, the best elements of this series are the dating and cooking, neither of which are common in US console games. So understandably, the HM crowd found the PS2 "Save the Homeland" version to be a slight disappointment because it cut back on the marriage bit.
The series' creator told IGN that the GCN version is supposed to focus on the best parts of the series so far, so who knows what that actually means. We'll find out next year.
The PSX, SNES, and N64 versions are by far the best in the series. I wouldn't buy the PS2 version if was you because it's missing too many important gameplay aspects.
As for the Game Boy version, they too are not very good and are missing things like the ability to date, raising ponies, and losing your money gambling on ponies just to name a few.
I would just wait for the GC version to come out and get that because I really don't think you would need more than one Harvest Moon game in your collection
