I haven't for over a year. Maybe I should write for TNL again. :P

So hey, when is that 360 hardware revision coming?
So what's this new update for?
Minor fixes.
Decalgirl has some for cheaper (though they don't look as nice). You can also just buy skins over there instead if that's a viable option for you...
so my buddy at ms can get me a premium system, viva pinata special edition, kameo, project gotham 3 and a year of live gold for $435. so goddamned tempting.
That's a sweet fucking deal. dooooooooooo it
That's a damn good deal. I'd be all over it.
If I can get ahold of a reservation on this:
http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B...8&s=videogames
I'll be getting a 360 on the 21st. :)
It's only 44,000... so less then $400.
360 game of the year right here:
you can ghost ride the whip in it!!!
A new 360 dashboard update is out - it fixes some of the issues with 1080p over VGA and a few other things:
http://www.majornelson.com/archive/2...1080p-fix.aspxQuote:
The next time you sign into Xbox Live, you’ll be prompted for a dashboard update. The update contains:
Improved support for HD video output over VGA, including 1080p resolution
Improved plug and play performance for wired headsets when being used with wireless controllers
Changes made to recently played games list to improve accuracy
Oh, fuck. Now I don't even want to check. My wife got the update when she started Viva Pinata this morning.
Must be a fluke. I DLed it and my partial hardcore save is fine.
Okay guys. Im officially in for the MS family bundle. Total is $445 after shipping (only $10!). Chances are ill get rid of PGR3 and at least play thru Kameo. Would it be in my best interest to get the vga cable? I don’t have a hi def tv (just a plain bulky flat screen with component inputs) but I do have a 20” widescreen monitor. Also is the Live Gold sub the best one or is there a platinum? GoW will be my first game to get so are any of the retailers having any trade in deals with 360 games?
I'm in a similar boat (monitor, no TV), and I hear that the official VGA cable comes with a headphone adapter and a female-female VGA adapter.
Are the third party VGA cables notoriously shitty? I'm thinking I'll just get one of those, a female-female adapter from radioshack or something, and I'll run the audio through my PC line-in for headphones. It'd probably be under $20 total.
I would avoid the 3rd party cables and go with the first-party one. Microsoft's VGA cable has a digital audio jack for surround sound--not sure about 3rd parties (except for Monster Cable, but they charge $20 MORE than Microsoft).
However, although Microsoft was smart to include a female-female VGA adapter, they didn't include a female-female adapter for the computer speakers. This is a stupid oversight because
a) some computer speakers don't have a female plug
b) even if the computer speakers did have a female plug, the small and horrid design of the VGA cable speaker plug ensures that you don't get a secure connection to your computer speakers.
3.5mm female-female adapters are not easy to find, so I had to hit eBay and order a Steren 3.5mm Coupler for under $4 (with shipping).
That's not gonna do a thing for me, though. headphones 4 (dorm) lyfeQuote:

Pelican makes a 3rd party VGA cable. It's what I use to connect my 360 to my monitor, so I can vouch for it working. Quality seems fine for me, but I doubt I'd notice the difference between that and the MS one either way.
Link for the cable at TNL store.
Why would a cable need to be licensed to work? Not like it's a controller or anything.

WTF @ Pimps At Sea, Master
I finally joined the masses and got an Xbox 360! Add me to you friends list please and when I get GoW later today lets kill each other! My name of course is Daitokuji. ION, has anyone tried to stream video from your pc to your xbox? I've tried and my 360 sees my pc and the pc sees the xbox. I've put all my vids in the library section of Media Player 11, but the 360 doesn't see any of the videos. Does it read all video including all codecs or is there something else I should know?
Oh shit, Master is playing Halo 3 (Alpha)?
And, VGA cables 4 Life yo.
Be aware that the 360 doesn't have a 16:10 resolution setting, which is the typical aspect ratio of a widescreen PC monitor. The closest it does is 1280x768, which is just about but not quite 16:10. The image is stretched an extra 32 pixels to fill a 16:10 monitor. It doesn't sound like much, but it gets annoying.
The 360 can only playback WMV files. So you can either convert them all to wmv so it'll work or use TVersity to do on the fly transcoding and streaming of your videos to your 360. I haven't tested TVersity (yay to having a modded XBOX), but I think that's the only way to get all your videos playing on the 360.
Let me tell you about friend requests. We're too lazy to go around sending requests to new people--you have to take the initiative and send them to TNL people. Your gamertag matches your TNL name, so you'll probably be able to get away with sending requests without a voice message telling people who you are, "I'm from TNL if you're wondering who I am."
Don't have a USB keyboard to easily enter TNL gamertags when you're sending invites? You can speed up the process if you have a Passport login by sending friend requests via Xbox.com.
I think he was typing. But, he coulda been talking also I guess.
Hey, can I get one of you guys to log into my Live account and play Gears of War for me? It's so much easier than actually playing it myself.
thx
Ok, I need some help. I went out and bought the MS VGA cable. Hooked everything up, set the resolution to 1280x720 and everything looked great, that is until I noticed the right side of my screen was being clipped and the left side has a small black bar. My TV has a native resolution of 720p so I don't understand why it is doing this. I tried 1280x768 but then the image is smaller than it should be having black bars on left, right, and top parts of the TV. So does anyone know a way to fix this or is my TV just not capable of running through VGA. I got it so standard DVD's would be upconverted through my HD player.
EDIT: Nevermind, I figured it out. Found the part of my TV's menu where I can move the screen for PC connection. Probelm solved.
Did the 360 have an option for 1366 x 768? If your native is 720p, then that might be the resolution you need.
I can't add anymore because my friends list is full?! Why... How.... huh?
I guess I won't be your friend, then.
Wow, what's the limit, anyway? 50? 100?

I hope they do something cool here.
What's so good about that game anyway? Can I use the trigger buttons to fast forward through battles now?
So has Blue Dragon sold any 360's in Japan?
I got the new OXM today. Lost Planet on the cover. 8.0 rating.
any more reviews?
It's just out today, I figure we'll know by the weekend if it moved a lot of 360's or not.
I've been checking out some previews and a lot of videos for it, and it seems like a really traditional, turn based RPG with a few quirks. There's no random battles, it's like Grandia where you see the enemy on the field before you encounter it. Some interesting twists, though, like being able to engage in battle with two enemies from the field at a time, and if the enemies don't like each other, they fight it out amongst themselves while you kill the both of them.
Being directed by Sakaguchi, I would expect a lot of FF themed moods and plot developments. With Uematsu also doing the soundtrack, you can expect a lot of spazzy guitar and keyboard solos, perhaps mixed with some wonky engrish lyrics.
Well I was right about the music, for one.
Got a question. My brother is having a LAN party on Friday and we're going to be playing Gears of War. Is it possible for, say, 4 consoles at his place with Live Gold accounts to play over live against other people?
I don't see why not. The only different thing is that all of those consoles are residing in the same place (as opposed to four LIVE people living in different parts of the country). As long as each console has a Gold LIVE account and access to the Internet, you should be fine. Just make sure the four gamertags are in the others' Friends List.
Ok cool...well we'll find out tomorrow. I'll report back if there is any interest.
You can system link for co-op, dunno if you can that for VS.
Halo 3 tv spot theme = fucking rad
Halo Wars theme = fucking trash
You can system link for vs. I did the weekend after i got it with 2 other consoles and played over live. Being able to see your team mates screen is such a fucking huge advantage, we were demolishing despite only owning the game for 2 or 3 nights.
Blue Dragon hits Japan
And there was a line for it! The bundle was for (iirc) 100,000 consoles, 10,000 of which were the Limited Editions that come with a calender, faceplate (which looks pretty cool) and figurienes for the 5 main characters. The LE's were spoken for very quickly.
Here are some pics of the LE set.
I want Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey really bad...I'm too spoiled by new gen graphics, but I'm not willing to settle for Enchanted Arms. There's no dates yet but I'm hoping to see both of them in the first half of next year.
I just got my LE Blue Dragon system in the mail. I'll take some pics if anybody cares...
Fuck that, tell us how the game is.
My 360 and Gears of War are finally under the tree I suspect.....sweeeeeeeeeeet......Is there anything special about the Gears Of War Collector Edition?
The box.
The book is OK, and the DVD of extras is really meh.
If there's no extra game content then I don't care. I just want all the Gears of War I can get.
Damn it.
If I had to bet money, I'd say Blue Dragon shows up in March.
A) Easter is like Vice-Christmas now, that's when alot of big releases cluster around these days.
B) Blue Dragon is family friendly and would work well as a gift at that time.
C) Microsoft's got to put together some stuff to go up against the PS3 launch in Europe, I'd guess BD and Forza come out then as showcase pieces.
D) 3-4 months seems like the right amount of time for them to get the translation down.
Prediction: Next Christmas.
I'd say March/April too.
Know what's awesome?

No.
Maybe.
So after a little over a year, my 360 decides it no longer wants to live. After I went and bought a new TV and everything. Little bastard...
Getting this sorted out from way the hell over here should be fun, assuming that free repair/replacement thing is still going on. If not, guess I'm stuck buying another one.
The Xbox compatiblity list has been updated (but apparently these don't work yet)

His friends list was full. :(
I guess I'll play some PSU.
Is the list up online yet? The one on MS' site is dated August.
