I wasn't aware this discussion was about some website that arbitrarily averages the average scores across several websites.

I thought we were discussing the importance of the video portion of videogames, and why to say a videogame system isn't about visuals is disingenuous.

Thats obviously why the Wii is twice as powerfull as the GameCube and not just the same harwdware with a new gimmicky method of playing it...

It's partially about video. It's more about games, and the interactivity therewith. If all I cared about was the prettiest shit flashing before my eyes, I should be watching Revenge of the Sith over and over again.

You can like or dislike the way Wii controller uses motion, or feel that graphics are that important that you just don't want to play a less powerful system. Fine. But to assert that I can't enjoy Zelda because it's not as pretty as *insert PS3 launch game here because I can't name a single one* is silly. Games have always been about interactivity with a primarily visual medium, not about blowing away my fucking corneas with the most impressive visual effects I have ever seen.

Right. Now, what about the Wii takes interactivity FURTHER? A few things here: a) What I do with the Wiimote in Wii Sports doesn't correspond to what happens in the game. I actually can do FAR LESS with the controller in Wii Sports than I can with a normal controller in sports games right now. b) The Wii being weak is not just graphically. Everything suffers. Environments can be more interactive with more power. Duke Nukem 3D was much more interactive than FPSes before it. Even if the graphical fidelity were the SAME, it would have still required a better system than Doom. Also, immersive physics engines require power. The Wii doesn't have it. What the Wii does have is a replacement for an analog stick. That's not interactive. Flicking the nunchuk to open a door is no more interactive than pressing A. Do doors open when you flick your wrist? That doesn't immerse me. Seeing a frickin awesome door does a much better job.

I'll say it again. Any of you that all you care about is graphics need to be playing PC games and get out of the console realm. PCs kill and will always kill the console in that regard. Stop being such negative little bitches and go play some games, hopefully on the PC with a $1000.00 SLI or Crossfire graphics set up so you can have the most mindblowing eye fuck graphics ever.
