It's not neccessarily any one characteristic, but rather some sort of archetype and fitting someone into that archetype. But yes, if both of my parents were black and I still looked like me, everyone would still consider me white.
I don't know why we bother exactly, but race is defined by physical characteristics. Like there are white people from Puerto Rico, and they're still Puerto Rican, but racially they're white. Race isn't about ancestry or nationality. We like to think that it is, but it's not. It's just physical appearence. If I looked like Don Cheadle I'd be black no matter what my parents looked like.Quote:
