Someone yells at this guy and the only thing he can think to do is drop the N-bomb over and over and cite a hate crime.
Sometimes people say stupid things when they're angry, yeah. And do they always mean it 100%? No. But things do come out that you would typically hold back.
"WHITE PEOPLE DRIVE LIKE THIS" is often followed by "BLACK PEOPLE DON'T PAY BILLS AND RUN AWAY FROM SCARY THINGS."(for comparisons sake, I think usually the white people try to make brave stands or something). Anyways white comics make jokes about black people too. I don't know why people seem to pretend like they don't and I'm guessing it's just laziness. If Richards had been sharper he could have gotten away with directing a racial joke at his hecklers, but mostly he just kept saying nigger, people realized no actual humor was coming, and then it just got awkward.
Who knows what things were like before he made his comments. I heard that his set bombed and a decent portion of the crowd was booing him before that point, so maybe he was only speaking for himself while people in the audience had more than enough guts to say what they wanted and did so through booing and rude comments. Maybe.Quote:
I commend him for saying (loudly) what no one else in the audience had the guts to say.
this is all going to turn into that episode of Seinfeld where Mr. Morgan thought George was a racist because he (George) said that he (Morgan) looked like Sugar Ray Leonard. George then went around the city in a desperate attempt to interact and make friends with whatever black person that he could.
I bet he got paid more for his apology on the Late Show than he ever did for any of his stand-up. I'm sure he didn't mean to do this as a publicity stunt, but it seems like it is helping his bank-account.
