I really don't understand that argument.

The value of a game as an experience has absolutely nothing to do with the hardware it's on, or if it pushes that hardware to the limit.

Robotron: 2084 will be eternally near-perfect whether you're playing it on the original cabinet, or a Xbox 360 compilation. The hardware -- besides the two sticks, or a similar alternative, needed to play -- means nothing.

I'm with PBMax on this one. A perfect game has nothing to do with maximum hardware usage. That's a ridiculous statement.

At the time, Robotron was stunning. Now, it's not as fun after playing Geometry Wars. Robotron is not the king it once was (this coming friom a big fan).

Sure they derail it, but every single fucking time they derail Sergeant Spodaddy and Private PBMax come running to the rescue turning it into a big ordeal.

This shit doesn't happen in the 360 threads, or to a much less extent the super shitty PS3 thread.

I have never seen a magazine or website claim that they score games based on value. Don't get me wrong. I think that's a valid way for someone to look at things, but that is not the criteria EGM claims to use. Also, you can't have it both ways. Either they are incompetent and gave Zelda a 10 and Monkey Ball a 6, or they did a good job and did both things. If te same people gave both scores, they can't be separated by fanboy glasses.

So you played a somewhat-updated 2004 Xbox game, a truly 2004 Xbox game, a shitty FPS with gimmick controls, a console port of a portable game that received an average review of 80.2% in 2005, and a freaking GBA game from an overrated series that was released in 2002. Damn, Zelda, along with 50 other games released this year, must kick ass!

edit: Damn it. I was typing all of this while vaginas exploded above. I still feel this is on-topic though. Console threads are not and should not be completely positive all of the time. Even Joust is backing up his dissent.

Explain yourself. Perfect = No flaws and nothing better. Graphics and sound are two fairly major areas where games are judged. To have no flaws means having no flaws in those areas, which means making the most of the hardware. A game can have perfect gameplay and not be anywhere near a 10.
