Bas is gangster.
From an interview with Keith Jardine:
“There’s a big difference between a win and a loss in the UFC. I’m making a comfortable living right now, but I’m definitely fighting for my livelihood…. I’m kind of like the blue-collar UFC fighter. I’m working my way in through the back door. I haven’t been fed any (soft) opponents. I didn’t win the reality show. I’m just making my own way. I haven’t been mass marketed to anybody. That’s the thing. The marketing machine hasn’t really gotten behind me. I’m fine with it, but I just think that the Forrest Griffins and those guys, they’d rather have those guys have the title than me. They kind of let me go my own way a bit because I’m not out there craving attention and I’m not out there hamming it up for the fans. I’m not being like Brock Lesnar after the fight (at UFC 100). That was embarrassing. I’m not that guy. I never will be. I’ll always be humble and be mean when it counts. I come from a real hard-working background and I don’t think my Dad would think very well of me if I were out there making an ass of myself. I’m just going to be myself and hopefully people will appreciate that. When I have the title, hopefully I will have a lot of fans because of the way I am.”

I really would like to see Maia continue his uber-BJJ dominance but I just don't see how A+ BJJ defeats B+/A- wrestling, when the Wrestler is so much stronger (blv) than the BJJ guy.
I really like Dean. I want him to win. But he's just not the athlete Thiago is. MMA will soon become like other sports where skill is (relatively) equal and athleticism is what really matters. :tear:
I love Randy AND Nog. It was encouraging to hear the Portland crowd cheer Nog (even tho they rambunctiously cheered for Randy). I expect we get a hard-fought fight, w/both fighters getting the Standing O.
Etc:
I'll be cheering for Mike Russow on the undercard (don't particularly care what kind of whiskey he drinks).
My god this Maia KO.
Yes, that was soo badass! Guy didn't get to do ANYTHING!! other than fly through the air.
I am shocked Maia tried to strike with Marquardt. He had Nate back up after that first barrage and then immediately went in like he was trying to finish him there. It's almost as if he wanted to prove he could stand. He can't stand with Nate. I'm not sure Maia could even stand with a Toquinho Palhares at this stage. I was surprised at how the fight played out in terms of the strategy.
Nog dominated Couture but one thing still really bothers me: Nog still got tagged by Randy, it's just a difference when a borderline LHW is tagging you and when someone 250lb is tagging you, but the fact that he's still getting tagged this frequently makes me very worried when he faces the bigger heavyweights. But no disputing it's the best Nog has looked in the UFC by far and is the first fight he's had in the UFC where he has not been dropped.
I can't believe Nog is only 33...he looks older than Couture.
Geez- Nog looks old enough to be my dad.
