I'm amazed this got axed with how complete it looked. Shin Chuka Taisen was canned on PS2 and moved to Wii so hopefully this will appear again.
Really sucks though. *-neo

Hey, good enough for me.Quote:
After pages detailing the US releases for Wii games titled Kiki Kai World and The Monkey King: The Legend Begins appeared on Amazon today, we contacted publisher UFO Entertainment to see if we couldn't find out the whole story.
As it turns out, Kiki Kai World is not the Kiki KaiKai (Pocky and Rocky) sequel that was announced and cancelled. However, it is by the same developer, is "very similar" to the cancelled game, and is more of a "spiritual successor," says UFO.
"To make a long story short, Taito, who is now owned by Square [Enix], had some issues with us and we had to let the title go," said a company spokesperson.
The new game will be released in the US on both the PlayStation 2 and Wii. The PS2 version is currently scheduled for a December release, with the Wii version arriving early next year. The game will also be released on both platforms in Japan.
UFO also confirmed that The Monkey King is indeed the US title of Starfish's upcoming Wii game Shin Chuuka Taisen.
The box art is literally a palette swap of the Pocky and Rocky 2 box art.
I've got to admit to being a bit confused. Is Kiki Kai World the same game as Heavenly Guardian? And if it is, why on earth would they change the Japanese box art into what they're showing for the US?

*shrug* Why did they have a mongoloid fingerpaint over the ship on the Ikaruga box for the US release? I think they just get bored.
I believe Taito dropped production of Kiki and Starfish changed some art to push the release out. *-neo
I think James' point is the fact the Japanese Box Art is amazing looking and then the American is horrible. Like. Atrocious.
