Help me choose a motherboard!

Okay, I've just about had it with Asus. As many know, I bought a P5DL2-VM mobo from Asus because I was told it was a decent mobo and reviews seemed positive. I bought it back in October. It arrived DOA. I sent it to get fixed and it died in a couple of days. After the second RMA, it worked for a few days and then died out on me. It ran in the case after I used a base to keep static away from the board but then stopped showing me vid after a bit. I removed it, tried onboard video and nothing.

So, I've had it with Asus. I want those of you who have any experience or knowledge of any non-Asus boards to recommend a new mobo for me since I'm not gonna let a Core 2 Duo proc gather dust.

What it needs to be compatible with:
UATA HDD
2 GB OCZ Gold-edition RAM (PC 5something, I forget)
Core 2 Duo E6400 2.13 GHz

I don't care about SLI but I do want a PCI-E x16 slot and a few PCI slots. Please come to my rescue, TNL.

Are you sure there's not a problem with your case, I mean it sounds like your case could be frying these boards.

I don't know about that mother board but I know you don't want to shop at tiger direct. They have a very poor reputation.

edit - nm, I actually clicked the link and i do know about that MB. ECS=lawl. Fry's gives them away for free all the time and still no one uses them. I have one i got a year ago nib just sitting in a closet.

There's a lot of ways it could be doing. If the board isn't sitting right it could be shorting it against the metal case, something in the case could be broken and touching the motherboard in someway shorting it. I ask cause you mentioned using the static back in the case and it worked for awhile. Plus it just seems really weird to get 2+ bad Mobos from Asus.

It could also be a bad power supply.

If I use a piece of paperboard the size of the board and then install it into the computer, will it be fine? Also, I use normal screws. Should I use a specific type?
