I was speaking about Joust.
Joust is a fanboy and nomatter what you say he will deny it and live on. You hate portables its a known fact, so anyone trying to convince you otherwise is a waste of time.

I also support the notion that portable gaming sucks. Well, at least for big involving games.
I agree with the last part. Here is where I think portable gaming fits. It's similar to XBLA or Nintendo's VC. There are times when I don't want to use 17 buttons to play a game. At those times, I'll go back to a classic usually. However, the classics eventually wear thin, and portables are the only place we are going to get new non-17 button or 2D games from real developers in 2007 and beyond I fear.
Dragon Quest, as it's existed up until now, could be played on an NES. The aesthetics have certainly improved over time, but the gameplay was encased in amber. Next-gen systems don't exactly offer much when it comes to gameplay advancement in this particular series, so what's really being lost are the aesthetic advancements. And while I'm definitely going to miss them, I still think Dragon Quest makes about as much sense on a portable system as it does on a full console, just due to how each game is laid out. As I said earlier, they don't really have really big epic plots, they've got a string of vingettes that last a couple hours each at most.
It reminds me of when GTA was announced for the PSP and people complained that a console series made no sense on a handheld, when the very structure of the series was perfect for short playing times.
Edit: Oh, and incidentally, this is going to be an action RPG with an online cooperative element. So people who've complained that the series never advanced... well, here you go.
So what happened to Dragon Quest Joker? Did that get shit canned or somehow fused into this?
Yeah, okay. You're the one that, instead of looking at the situation objectively and being honest about what this could mean, just uses it as another excuse to troll. This has nothing to do with the argument Western software vs. Japanese software, it has to do with the effects this could have on hardware in Japan, and the totally logical side-effects it could cause over here.
Post in the thread again when you can put your moronic trolling aside and come up with a comment or two that actually have some logic to them.
Be careful, because you're getting dangerously close to Joust levels of post worthwhile-ness. This isn't about what we personally like or dislike, what our petty biases are. If you truly think Japanese software support doesn't matter for a console, in the overall picture, not just in your little world, you're an absolute idiot.
