So are you suggesting now that Jp gamers have gotten a taste of "shiny" DQ they'll only accept "shiny" DQ? Or did your vague one sentence reply mean something else?

I'm suggesting that putting games that can be high budget on the underpowered DS is LAME, userbase be damned. It's why people would rather have a high res 2D Mario (OK, Wii doesn't do high res, but it's higher than DS) on a full console than on a DS.
DS 3D is asscream.
he's just pissed he was NINTENDOWNED
oh yeah and...

Imagine if it was suddenly announced that Halo 3 wasn't coming to the Xbox 360, but instead to the PSP. Imagine the blow that would be to the 360 in America.
Now, multiply that by a factor of 10, and that's what just happened in Japan to the PS3. But as for Sony in general, the next installment of the biggest game series in Japan just went away (in the minds of the public) from their super-hot high tech new console to a "last gen" handheld. Perception wise, that's a HUGE snub to Sony.
As far as the guarantee of DQX being on PS3, there is no guarantee. The developers of DQ have typically put the series on the console that had the biggest install base, simple as that. While obviously you could argue that the DS is still far lower than the PS2, it is by far the highest install base (in Japan) of the current generation of hardware. Unless the PS3 somehow sells better than the DS - which it won't, at least not for years if ever - then if the developers stick to their current plan, the series wouldn't switch back unless Sony brings in money hats the likes of which have never been seen.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that a DQX for the PS3 is absolutely not in development. If I were Square Enix, and I were developing a new DQ game for the PS3, I'd want something between now and then, knowing how long it would take to get used to the new PS3 hardware. Putting out a DQ on the DS would be the perfect in-between step. Still, there's NO reason to just assume any DQ game is coming for the PS3 at this point.
But, maybe SE will give Sony a break, and toss the PS3 a DQ Gaiden title. *heh*
Well this is a great day for my router to take a shit.
I get a thread with my name in it bearing some of the most awful videogame news I've ever read in my life and I have no time to type some unread diatribe about it.
Quite simply - it's thanks to people like Yoshi, who had resisted buying a DS for so long and then just couldn't bear not being able to play the latest shitcoil in a series that they have emotional attachment towards, that this has happened. Thanks guys, you have permanently fucked everything up.
Barring the highly minimal chance that this is multiplatform, RIP DQ. Nice knowing you.I wouldn't be so optimistic - that is unless you're talking about a PS3 revision of DQ9 in 2011.Quote:

I think it's clear giving the shipping numbers of the ps3s launch they know where the money is at, and it isn't in japan.
