I actually enjoyed that video a lot. I had always wondered what that game was like but would never put forth the effort. Anyway, I've liked a lot of AVGN's videos where he avoided talking about (game) sucking shitting elephant dick nipples getting fucked by badgers or whatever the hell. His Virtual Boy summary was actually pretty good!
Umm, what was that REAL game that had the masked guy jumping off the roof earlier in that video, it looked pretty epic.
I love this guy. Some of his reviews are hit or miss, but his real talent is selecting the things that will be funny to talk about. I saw an interview with him awhile back and he's actually a pretty timid and quite guy.
His video on his website [cinemassacre.com] where he talks about how he got started making short films when he was a kid was surprisingly interesting.
That's a nice way of saying colossal bore. I heard him on Opie and Anthony and it was really uncomfortable how he was completely incapable of having a conversation.Quote:

Most of them I got with the Saturn, the store was having a "get a Saturn and 40 games for (the equivalent of) $60" deal. I knew most of the games were hot garbage they'd never sell in a million years and were just shoveling in to recoup some kind of money, but there were some good ones I was going to buy anyway thrown in there too, and a couple of hidden gems (Hang On '95 is surprisingly awesome).Quote:

agree with cheebs -- that ninja gaiden review was legendary. His older stuff is blah, but this shows that he is getting much better.

Really? The first Ninja Gaiden was rough yes, mostly because of the bullshit of the last level, but the 2nd game was easy. The 3rd game was out of control hard on the NES, because the damage was doubled and continues were limited for the NA version making it damn near impossible, but really really easy on SNES Trilogy pack since that was the original japanese version..
Back in the day I could beat Ninja Gaiden without continuing.
I wish he had covered more games in the series rather than harping on the difficulty for so long, but otherwise it was good.
If you have the Jump and Slash item, you can beat every boss in one to two hits. One hit if you time it just right.
Ninja Gaiden is just memorization and scrolling back and forth to make the edge of the screen eat a couple of dudes. Standard NES tactics.
It's a fun challenge along those lines, though! One of the best.

Ninja Gaiden beat me at the same part it beat them - the end is just too much. It's the only game that ever made me throw my controller at the TV. Still one of the best game ever though. EV-VER.

Those games are arguably the worst I've ever played. And I actually bought all of them (even the uber rare Water World) not because I enjoyed them at all, but just in the hopes that playing the next one would help me make sense of the previous.

That contest was badass, btw. Somehow the idea that 80 year old Tramiel is sitting in his retirement condo wearing that crown and brooding over the ashes of his ruined kingdom seems appropriate to me.

Raiders was completely obvious and logical compared to Swordquest. I actually got to the last room of Raiders, though it was impossibly hard. Pretty awesome game for its day.
SwordQuest's puzzles were based largely around picking up objects and placing them randomly in other rooms, which may or may not silently change the layout of the map. It's completely obscure.
Me and my bro had no problem co-oping Raiders. Like Frog said I also remember the Quest games making no sense whatsoever. You would turn to the page in the book and there would be nothing relevant to the game. So reading the Wiki......could you ever beat the games or were they just made for the contest (find the word, get the sentence)?
2600 Raiders actually holds up pretty well. I finally beat that game in 2008.
That Sword Quest video was great and, thankfully, light on the AVGN's usually rambling of random cursing.
Seemed like a cool series of games, even without the real world prizes.
