It's pretty self-explanatory. I need a perfume for a friend and I have no idea what's a good kind. I went to the mall yesterday and was....overwhelmed. Help plz.
I was leaning towards Weekend by Burberry 3.4oz Eau de Parfum Spray

My post won't be helpful at all, and yet I will type it anyway:
I've never liked perfume. Does nothing for me, neither on myself nor on my woman. When I'm "in close" I like a girl to smell like a human. Not gross and reeking, but you know...just the way a person smells.
I'm the same way with makeup. I just like to look at my girl's face as-is. Seeing her, smelling her, and hearing her unaltered is how I likes it. Naturally, touching her "unaltered" (without all of that pesky fabric changing the way her curves feel) is preferred as well. :)

My girlfriend likes the perfume "Mariel"...but maybe that's because it shares her name.
It smells nice, though--not overwhelming at all.

Do you know that she likes perfume to begin with? I can't stand the shit. I've had Curve and some other department-store shit from my aunt every year and I've told her that I dislike perfume but she keeps buying it for me thinking 'oh no you'll love this one' or something.
I also don't do makeup outside of some of that cover-crap if I have a bad pimple, that's about it. Never bothered with the stuff. They're crappy as gifts anyway.

What really works is to spray a Cologne on than shower, and
it absorbs, and the scent is slightly different in a good
way.

Vera Wang's normal fragrance is pretty sophisticated, is good for young 20-somethings, isn't too sweet, is clean, and has enough of a reputation to earn you points for at least being thoughtful in your choice. It's middle of the road enough fragrance-wise (I mean in those categories listed above, not in quality of smell, which it excels in) and nice enough reputation-wise that you're bound to please more women buying it than not please them.
But really, you probably shouldn't buy her perfume if you don't know a specific brand she likes. Otherwise, you need to have some idea of this other stuff.

That's all I have to offer. All I sorta know is a certain cologne (Very Sexy from Victoria's Secret) which was purchased for me by someone I was sleeping with a long time ago and have also gotten compliments on from other women. If left to fend for myself I would probably find only things other people hate and thus will also never purchase perfume for a female.
It's easier to buy her birth control pills. It's a two-way gift.

the only one i will wear isn't overbearing, doesn't smell french, doesn't really smell too much of flowers or candy. it smells clean.

I dont bother with perfume (not since highschool) and I dont even own any make up anymore. (didn't even wear any on my wedding day)
Get her a gift certificate so she can buy which ever one she wants (I did this for my dad, along with a shit load of samples, so that he could try it on and then my mom would sniff him and see if she liked it on him and how it combined with his body chemistry. They ended up with one they really liked.)
and brand loyality is like rampent. I know a woman who when her favorite perfume stopped being made, she bought a shit load on ebay. beware.
