The point is you can only go about rolling a big ball of crap so many ways before it gets old. You have a lot more wiggle room for ideas with the examples you listed.Quote:
I don't care if I have to keep rolling balls in a game about rolling balls.
Yes, otherwise why even bother switching? I don't really care if they are cute or not.Quote:
What, did you want different attributes or something?
If they released an visually enhanced version of the first two Katamaris on 360, that would be enough for me. Namco has already shown they can't do the series justice without the original creator, thanks to the PSP version, so a retooling for the next-gen systems will do. I'd rather Katmari/We <3 Katmari be a fond memory of two near-perfect games than worn out and degraded through sub-par sequels.

I think I remember seeing some interview with the creator saying that he wasn't going to make anymore Katamari's, and that the series was good where it was and there was no sense in making anymore.
To be honest... I think I might agree. I love Katamari, but part of the real charm of the game was doing all of that for the first time. I bought the sequel the day it came out, but just didn't find myself liking it as much.
This might be one of those games where they did what they needed to do, and it doesn't really need bigger and better hardware to do what it originally wanted to but couldn't.
If the DS could handle a Katamari game, I'd kind of like to see one show up there, and then end the series for good.
He said that after the first game, but he was put into the position of "Either you make the sequel or we get someone else to do it." The creator was a very cool guy, he didn't even want to make videogames anymore IIRC, he wanted to make childrens playground equipment. Namco is just milking it dry now, very sad.
I would like a Katamari in which there is a stage where I roll around starting with paperclips and eventually move up to countries with no loading screens, breaks, or a time limit. Like the unlocked version of the last stage of the first game, only more so.
Everything else would be icing. As long as the soundtrack rocks. I could also just custom soundtrack from the original game, but yeah.
