I'm on vacation until after Christmas. You can ban me until then.
So, it works. Kinda. I've tried a few other things since the video, namely pointing the browser to various file types. Here's my results:

Seems decently fast.
I figure I'll get home from work tomorrow afternoon and it'll be up and running. But I have to be up at 5:45AM, so I just won't care. Also, I'm typing this on a PC with Firefox right now.
It's a neat extra, though, for those times the PC is in use by someone else.

^__^ hee hee... i'm a star! Thanks Detour!
Wow, watching that was kind of weird. Like. Watching the past before it happens.
So, I've played with it for a while. It's not bad. Having a standard def TV almost completely kills the experience though.
I'm not sure what I would use it for, to be honest. I have 2 PC's at home, so short of watching youtube on my TV (and my xbox can do this anyway, though not quite as nicely), I probably won't use it at all.
edit: I forgot about Wiicade. One more reason to play with the Internet Channel I guess.
YEAH!
It's out in the US. Downloading now... will see how bad this is in SD shortly.
Okay, without zooming, it's impossible to read anything. But the flash playback is acceptable. YouTube + bed = okay with me. That's really all I could ever see myself using this for.
edit again: Nanaca Crash on Wii. I lied. This is the best app ever.
Can you use the dpad to input text at all on the Wii?
Why would you want to use the d-pad? I'm typing on the virtual keyboard right now, it's easy. :)
Well, compared to a d-pad, I mean. I doubt I'll be doing this again.us
James
Most of the wii-cade.com stuff wouldn't work for me, except for a sniper game that stopped working after a while.
And as usual Nanaca Crash is Nanaca Crash. Which is awesome.
Also, I'm posting this with my Wii.
lol posting from my wii
Posting from Wii.
"Posta" is not on the list of pre-set words :(
I bet Rocky has a Wii.
That's how he prepared for his latest fight.
When did people stop lining up for 360s?
January/Feb.
I'd say March.
It looked slow as balls compared to using a d-pad, really.Quote:

Playing the sniper game is with the wiimote is a blast. Zooming in for a kill is great.
What kind of game is Nanaca Crash?
I went into Toys R Us this morning to pick up something for my Nephew. Some shady looking dude was hanging out by the videogame section whispering "Psst…yo, gots a Wii fo' sale, outside" to everyone that walked by.
http://www.wiifii.net/
It has an awesome flash game about playing as a missle. 3rd one, second row.
Detour is sexy =)

SofaTube is a specially designed web application that lets you browse and watch videos from YouTube and Revver in your living room. While you can just as easily visit these two sites directly, both sites were designed to be used on a high resolution computer monitor and viewed 2 feet away from the screen. SofaTube, on the other hand, was developed to be used in a living room environment where viewers are usually sitting far away from their standard or high definition television. Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones is being re-released for Wii with new controls: http://the-magicbox.com/0612/game061219b.shtml
gogogoogoggog ubisoft
This is pretty cool, because I decided to skip on "The Two Thrones" after the second game was so amazingly awful. Although, I am not sure how adding Wii controls will make the game any better. I always thought the combat in the first two PoP games was kind of shitty, so adding Wii controls makes it sound even worse.
You missed out, then. The Two Thrones is almost as good as Sands of Time.
im typing from the wii. what r some good flash games and sites? i have wiicade saved already
wii post yaaaaaaaay
k enough of this
Wii closing in on the halfway mark of 360 sales after being available for a little over a month!!
http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=news&newsid=12957
How long's the 360 been out for?
Since when is 2.48 anywhere near halfway to 7.19?
I don't doubt that Wii will end up being the best selling system this generation, though.
Another mill is halfway. At the current rate that's about two more weeks.
So I finally got to play a Wii today at EB, and it was easily the most confusing 27 1/2 seconds of my life. I got thrown into Zelda during a fishing part with no preface of what to do, and all I wanted to do was get out of the boat. Suffice to say, I couldn't do that, got frustrated, and quit. Not quite the best first impression of a system I have gotten. Though I'm sure once I can get my hands on one I'll have a great time with it.
I thought the nunchuck attachment felt super cheap and crappy feeling (at least material wise), am I the only one who got that impression their first time holding it?
They made it light weight on purpose so swinging it around is a non-issue to noodle armed choir boys like you.
I question the staying power a console like the Wii has on the market, especially when everything that they have that might have a chance of maybe being worthwhile gets pushed back further and further in to the year. Even small shit like Wii Play is seeing delays and that's fucked. I say this hoping I'm wrong because I truly like the Wii and have had a lot of fun with it over the past 3 weeks with other people.
At this rate I doubt it if Smash Brothers or Mario Galaxy are even going to be available within a year's time. Maybe 1 if we're lucky. And that's lame. One of the biggest things Nintendo had going for it between the buzz made from E3 and their launch was the positive momentum and apparently a bevy of noticeable titles coming out within the first year.
I think the 360 will be last place because of Japan, but in North America they'll be number 1. I don't see the Wii lasting. I could be wrong, but really no I couldn't.
Holding the Wiimote and the nunchuk feels really, really good. I like it a lot.
Pls make some games now.
i have to agree with mzo... /o_o\ midna...
Oh, and also i really really like Detour's voice.
Yeah, I think what I like most about the nunchuck is being able to hold my hands wherever I want. I generally play Zelda with my chuck hand up near my shoulder, and my remote hand out along the armrest of my chair (if that makes any sense).
I also really really like my voice. I hope I get SingStar Legends tomorrow LAWL.
I like holding them at my sides and reclining.
Don't know if anyone has linked this yet:

Wow. Nintendo really thought outside the box about expanding the gaming demographics. The sleeping one must have only gotten Zelda with his Wii.
Has anyone put photos onto an SD card to view in their Wii yet? I don't remember where I put my manual and I'm not sure if I put them into the Wii folder that is already on the card or just loose in no folder.
When I put the card into the reader at my PC it has a "Private" folder with the Wii folder in it just in case I wasn't clear.
Cool, thanks.
my nephew got a wii for xmas, and while it's definitely fun, it's not perfect.
I'm not sure if my wii experience is typical, but i've encountered several annoying issues with the hardware and games.
it's hard as fuck to get a second remote connected. it usually takes at least a minute of fucking with it to get it to connect. the system says to press 1+2, but that only works about once in four times. the rest of the time, the four lights just keep flashing and nothing happens.
it's also apparently impossible to connect a second controller from within Rampage, as it doesn't even seem to have that option, despite being a multiplayer game. i had to setup both remotes in wii sports, then switch to Rampage to get it working. and since every time the system is powered down, the second remote need to be re-synced, this is a serious pain in the ass.
wii sports bowling is also glitchy. if i try play multiplayer with two remotes, it gets stuck in this endless cycle where p1 picks a mii, then p1 picks L/R setup,
then p2 picks a mii, then p1 picks L/R setup AGAIN, then p2 picks a mii AGAIN, then p1 picks L/R setup AGAIN, etc., etc.
i'm definiely not fucking impressed.
Use the red button under the battery cover of the remote to sync things up.
It shouldnt. If the Wii is off and I want to play, all I do is just press any of the buttons (usually A) and the lights at the bottom will light up according to which slot it was synched to.
If it doesnt work, just do what portnyd said. Use the red button to resynch. But you should only do it once and after that, it should be fine.
quick question, i dont know what my little sister did with the Wii manual, but when i hold the off button on the wiimote to turn it off, the wii has a yellow light instead of the red, and the disc slot glows on and off. I called my cousin who says his doesnt do that. Is it cause i have it connected on the internet and this is the wiiconnect24 stuff or is this just some odd standby.
Well, that was simple. Re-syncing it worked, although I'm not sure why it lost sync in the first place. The manual says it should stay synced until you change the settings. Maybe someone took the batteries out or messed with the options after we set it up. For some reason, when I synced it this time, it assumed the 1p slot and put the pack-in remote in the 2p slot. It didn't do that originally. so maybe I just fucked up the process the first time.
The problem with bowling is still a mystery, though. I thought the same thing as Detour when my nephews couldn't get it working, but I took over both remotes, so I know which buttons were being pressed. I actually tried using the B button at one point just for the hell of it, and it did the same thing as pressing A, except I think it made a different sound. We tried it after I synced the remote, and it worked fine.
That same remote had some other weird issues that went away after I got everything working, like having really jerky motion and just generally behaving differently from the other remote. I don't think the in-game syncing is supposed to be as flaky as it was, either, so maybe there were just some gremlins in the remote.
I guess Rampage just doesn't support in-game syncing because it doesn't use Miis, or because it's kinda crappy. Whatever. Everything works great now, so I don't care.
The only issue we're having now is that FarCry looks like a first-gen Dreamcast game. lol
Is there some special procedure to get the Internet Channel? I go to the Wii options screen and click on system updates, but it says I have the latest system software already?
It's a free download from the Wii Shop channel.
Download it from the Shopping Channel (in the Wii Ware section)
sheeeeesh, my Wii has crashed atleast 20 times in 2 hours. x_x
yes i just bought mine and it's giving me hell. I managed to download the latest update and get the weather channel and Opera browser, but it seems like my Wii crashes randomly, or more like every 15-20 minutes.....but when playing rayman it crashes as soon as the mini game starts! :(
i looked though the Nintendo.com Wii trouble shooting and they recommended using channel 1 or 11 on the router, mine was 6, so i switched to 11 and somehow the download speed doubled if not tippled, but it still did not stop the Wii from crashing.
is anyone having the same problem? i hope a new update is out soon. and last, do you recommend i enable or disable WiiConnect24? ......FUCK MY WII CRASHED AGAIN AS I WAS TYPING THIS MESSAGE!!!
Channels are just for speed. By default most routers ship on channel 5 or 6, so if you have any neighbors with wireless networks they will start to conflict and moving to as far away as you can from the default channel can improve your speed.
Your Wii crashing is a different matter entirely.
Your Wii is boned. These next gen consoles are all shit!
Call them Manic Miner, it's broken. ):
Crap. I don't know then. Try disconnecting WiiConnect24. Try anything. What about returning it where you purchased it?
Far Cry and Rampage will make a Wii do strange things to itself....
I've seen this happen to two other Wiis. They were both shipped out to Nintendo (for free) and a new one with a new serial number was sent back, all the Miis and saves gone.
So it's not like they fixed them, my guess is they're just some lemons at launch.
I thought it was standard to just ship you back a refurbished one?Quote:

Nintendo's consoles have never been region free - their portables have been.
How sure are you on that? Give me a percentage estimate.
My Nintendo, Super Nintendo and N64 all have physical lockouts. That means a chunk of plastic blocking the larger japanese carts from entering keeps me from playing games. You can fix that with a game genie acting as a pass-through. The Nintendo might be different, actually (never tried myself), the other two for sure.
The GC and Wii have software locks.
Weird. Do Xbox and 360 have region coding?
Do they, and yes they do.
I don't know what you're talking about Mzo. My post was clearly error free.
And thanks. I'm too much of a casual fan nowadays to care about these things.
NP, I only know because of Mario's Super Picross and the Treasure N64 games.
a friend of mine bough it from the states as a gift. I will disable WiiConnect24 and see how that goes.
expensive it is. I just might do it if disabling WiiConnect24 doesn't work. And yes it's in a ventilated area. it's sitting on the ground vertically in a very cool room.
My xbox, xbox 360, PS2, PS3 all are working fine. The voltage thing is not a problem.
it just lock up suddenly. everything just freezes, reseting, ejecting, or powering off dont work. the only thing i can do to turn it off is to unplug it from the step down converter. The music also lock up btw.
*sigh*
Where are you? If you have the receipt and all, i wouldn't mind sending it in for you. It'd probably take a while here and back unless you want to pay crazy prices for shipping, but it's better than nothing.
The NES has the 10NES protection chip, which (in addition to attempting to prevent unlicensed manufacturers) prevents PAL games from working on an NTSC NES without an adapter. I use a European adapter that advertises that it can "play over 200 US games" :P. Famicom cartridges are a completely different size and have a different pinout. You need an adapter for those as well. Some older first-party carts actually have an adapter (and a famicom pcb) inside them. There are also a bunch of fairly cheap adapters that also work.
Incidentally, you can just snap off some plastic on your SNES to get Japanese carts working. No need for a Game Genie or other adapter. PAL carts are a different story - they usually check for region, so you need an adapter (or you can hack the cartridge and replace the CIC chip. But that doesn't work for games that actually check for 50hz).
