I'd respond, but there were no points made.
The Wii has been out for well over a month and you've been arguing back and forth about the system for even longer than that. Aren't you people bored with this yet?
James
It won't end until the wii apologizes for raping joust.
But the wii's to proud.... just to goddamn proud.
Just got Rayman Raving Rabbids, it is a fun diversion but I wish there is more meat to the game. I know, it is a mini-game collection, but I think Warioware will be more fun. Well, this is a Xmas gift, I should not complain.
KINGOFFIGHTERS IS PRONE TO LOOKING GIFT HORSES IN THE MOUTH. DO NOT GIVE HIM PRESENTS.
Finch is like a raving rabbid. Cute, but evil.
Raving Rabbids is the only minigame-fest I've ever played that holds up in single player (going for high scores is satisfying). I exchanged it because it wasn't the kind of game I was in the mood for at the time, but I plan on buying it again eventually.
I'm debating Warioware since Wii Play got pushed back a month. I may even keep one of the wiimotes I bought and just make Wii Play the third one. Does Rayman look like it'll be better for two players? I'm picking it up in a few days for the SO and myself to play.
Super Swing Golf rocks, btw. I couldn't put it down for an hour.
I rented Raving Rabbids last week and was shocked by how bad the game was. Granted, I only played like 10 minigames, but given how shallow and just plain stupid they were, I honestly could not get myself to keep playing to find more. Its the only game I've played on Wii so far that I would classify as a complete gimmick.
New Wii games down the pipe! From my new favorite publisher, Ubisoft

Apparently Nintendo's next-gen is so revolutionary it comes with a time machine
I got 2 Wiis from TRU today. =] If my gf's mom still wants one, I'll give it to her and sell the other one. If she doesn't want it, I'll most likely keep one and sell the other, but I'll probably end up selling both.
I loled and seriosuly a 2 year old driver and the psp brother in arms come the fuck on.Quote:

Did anyone see that mario kart 64 is coming to the VC in japan? If they don't add online to that they are truly hopeless.
That would be a snappy comeback if it made any sense at all.
I don't know what's up with Ubisoft, but this shovelware attitude they're working on needs to stop. I'll grant that the follow-through on the Wii library's great start is pretty weak, but crapping out a spelling game and a PSP port isn't the way to do it. Nintendo needs to learn how to say No, and maybe smack Ubisoft on the nose with a rolled-up newspaper for good measure.
James
It did make sense though. Most (hell, if not ALL) western pubs are not going to put their all-star talent on Wii projects.
dude, seriously, for however many years i have seen you post, you have never been neutral on anything i have seen you post about, dont front. you were slamming the wii before it came out, except with the throwaway line about how the metal slug collection would get you to buy one. so just be honest, and dont pretend you were ever neutral on the topic just for a quick cheap shot at spoo, you are better than that.
Welcome to the new gen. Low third party sales on good games + machine that cannot compete = this.
Where are you getting the low sales numbers from? You're going to want to offer some backup on that statement, because the Wii had a hell of a good Christmas season despite the shortages.
James
He didn't say anything about Wii system sales.
We're clear on that point, thanks.
James
Couldn't really say, honestly, but with the DS in their corner you'd think they'd have some clout. Every system gets its share of shovelware (NRA Gun Club anyone?) but the ratio of good titles to bad needs to be strong enough to support it.
James
WWHLD?
What would Howard Lincoln do?
TIUTA.
Take It Up The Ass.
"because the Wii had a hell of a good Christmas season despite the shortages"
While I was not necessarily talking about the Wii, it still held true for it. The attach ratio was 2:1 in November (not sure what December was yet). Seeing as how Zelda is half that figure, that means that 1 3rd party game was sold per system. That's not good. The DS is in the same boat. Even though the system and Nintendo software is a juggernaut, DS games don't sell. I think LTD in the US is a little over 1 non-Nintendo game per system. The 360, conversely, has sold over 5 games per system, and most of that comes from 3rd parties. In fact, the 360 has sold almost as much software in the US as the DS. It's good that Nintendo makes a profit per system.
Third parties don't just look at a system's sales and say "Dang, big user base." User base means nothing if no one buys games outside of Nintendo games. People need to stop perpetuating this "DS is a behemoth and will rule the world" myth. The system and Nintendo games sell. That's about it. This isn't Japan (thank God).
If you want myths just read the BS you spew.
Below are lists -- from your favorite Web site, vgcharts.org -- showing all third party DS games that sold more than 100,000 copies in North America and Japan.
Not only are both lists substantial, the North American list actually has two more titles than the Japanese list.
So you're flat wrong on both counts -- third party DS games do sell, and they sell in North America.

You do realize he's just going to come back about how much GTA and Madden sold in America, right?
Then, you're going to respond that the PSP sells like shit in Japan or something.
Then, he's going to say that Japan sucks and isn't worth mentioning.
Then it's going to go on.
Forever.
Both of you. Stop. Please.
This is Joust. Ignore him.
LOL, PBMax's list just proved my point. There are 21 3rd party titles on PSP with over 200K sales, and half a dozen over 500K.
See?
Your point? So, the 360 has ALMOST sold as much software in the US as the DS. And the US is pretty much all of the 360s market. Whereas the DS has sold more than the 360 in the US alone, AND it completely blows the 360 out of the water in other markets. Where are you going with this?
This makes no sense at all. You're saying that 3rd parties won't support a system, even though the user base is high, if all that is selling on the system is first party titles. Isn't that round-about logic? First, 3rd parties have to support the system in order to have poor sales. Of course most of the sales are going to be Nintendo games if all the games on the system are Nintendo games.
Your argument doesn't make the least bit of sense. In Japan, where the DS user base is HUGE, the DS has gained a LOT of 3rd party support (name me one quality Japanese developer that isn't making games on the system). In other words, if the system has a lot of users, then it will gain support. Now I know you don't give a shit about japan, so lets look at the US. The DS user base is large, but by no means is it completely in charge of the market. Do you see US developers supporting the DS? Not as much as the Japanese, thats for sure. If the DS had as large of a user base in the US as it does in Japan, I can guarantee you it would be receiving more 3rd party support in the west. The DS doesn't lack western 3rd party support because nintendo games sell and 3rd party games don't, it lacks 3rd party support because it doesn't have a behemoth user base in the US market.
And uh, why are we arguing this again?
"third parties don't make good Nintendo games because their good Nintendo games don't sell?"
Bingo. When they make one, it doesn't sell. That means, over time, they make fewer games for it! Not a hard concept. And Taekwando or whatever the hell, I brought it up because someone said "Wii sucking ass on Ubisoft" didn't make sense. I was just showing that it did.
And this is completely the fault of the 3rd party. Either they're making a game for the wrong demographic, or the game is shit, or they just don't know how to market. Thats why the games "don't sell", as you put it. That has nothing to do with "nintendo sells the most games on nintendo systems and thats why 3rd party games don't sell". Developers go to where their market demographic is, not necessarily to where 1st party games sell the least.
Regardless of whose fault it is, it doesn't change the fact that developers over here just don't care about the Wii.
What have I been called out on?
No good third party games or support on Nintendo systems.
So you mean to tell me third party support is getting better? You mean to tell me that Western devs give a crap about Wii? Please show me where this is the case, where it rivals the other two systems for Western support even one tiny bit. Personally, I'd rather take this to PMs or XBL if you'd like.
...ok great. American developers don't care for the Wii... and yet... the system is still selling in the USA... odd. Could it be that games can sell outside of the region in which they're developed? Your entire argument is centered around "the Wii is a failure because I like western games and it doesn't have any." Well great for you, play your 360, thats what its there for. For people who happen to enjoy Japanese games, there's the Wii and the DS. Wow, everyone wins.
We were talking about Ubisoft...I didn't realize they were Japanese.
I haven't contradicted myself at all. And with that, no more of this shittiness tonight. BYE
These Wii threads are the worst things ever.
If you like the games on Wii, get a Wii. If you like the games on 360, get a 360. If you like both, get both. If you can't afford both, get a better job.
Arguing about support is pointless. If you don't think there's enough support yet, don't get one. If you do, go ahead and buy one. If you're unsure about future support, then hold off. It's all very simple.
Console flamewars are so 16 bit.
16 bit was the golden age.
I agree with everything you said; the problem is the 360 trolls that derive self worth from their overheating hardware. Speaking of which, yesterday after leaving the 360 downloading demos for 10 hours I returned to find that the room with the 360 in it was 8 degrees warmer than the rest of the house. Buy it for the games, keep it for the spaceheater.
Devs love Wii
Finally, Famitsu put all three systems against one another. In the category of system sales, 60% of those surveyed expect Wii to come out on top. PS3 took 37% of the vote compared to Xbox 360's 3%. The PS3's price point was cited as reason for the low expectations.
Most developers want to try out Wii development. 63% selected Wii as the system they most want to develop for, compared to the PS3's 32% and the Xbox 360's 5%.
Wii also won out in the category of which system the developers want the most, personally. 49% selected the Nintendo hardware. PS3 was chosen by 42%, with Xbox 360 coming in last at 9%.

On a final note, Pachter explained his comments are "not a slam on the US publishers, but [he], like everybody else, [doesn't] know who's going to capitalize on Wii."
"I didn't think publishers [knew how cool the Wii was] until they got their hands on it," Pachter said. "I don't know how Ubisoft figured it out. Let's give them a lot of credit. Their ahead of everybody right now."

I thought I was going to have to use the [ simg ] tags, but the shots are only 480 pixels tall. I wonder why.
So what, you still going to buy one as soon as you see it sitting there all pretty, calling out your name "Yoshi yoshi desu ne"
Yes, yes I am. That's due to me being weak, not because the damn thing deserves my business.
It is, and Joust knows it. You can say anything even sort of neutral about Nintendo and the Seal of Approval badge-holders storm the thread looking for circular arguments and endless counterpointing over pointless subjects.
Whatever makes them so concerned about damage control and hive protection over a brand name isn't something I'll ever understand.
"Hive protection"

I fail at reading comprehension today.
Especially if it was in lemon scent.
I would purchase a lemon scent console.
Game Factory is on board! Legend of the Dragon game announced for Wii
"We are thrilled to be publishing for the WiiTM," said Henrik Mathiasen, Game Factory's President. "While the Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3 next-gen consoles have really captured the imagination of the more mature gamer, at Game Factory we're really excited about the potential impact WiiTM will have on the children's market, as this is obviously our forte."

The lack of 360 love doesn't surprise me at all. This is Japan, remember? Welcome to 2001. The Xbox brand has been successful despite Japan's apathy, as were the N64 and the Genesis before it. These days, the region's importance are grossly overrated, imo.
I find it odd that 360 developers were excited about the console's capabilities long before it was released, and there were multiple reactions on both sides concerning the PS3 before it was released too, yet publishers "didn't know how cool the Wii was until they got their hands on it"? :wtf:Quote:

The Wii is fun, I'm still enjoying it, finding most of my play time going to excite truck. I find it funny how Yoshi and Joust both jump on Spo and Roletroll for defending Nintendo viciously talking of how disgusted they are in Nintendo fans and look, they are doing the exact same thing with the same stupid fanatacism for 360. There is no difference between the four other than allegiances.
OMFG 360 SOLD DOUBLE WHAT WII DID LOL LOL THATS SO COOL WITH ATTACH RATES AND SHIT AMIRITE GUYS?
Reminds me of grade 2 when people would argue
"Oh yeah? Well my dad could beat up your dad!"
"OH YEAH, WELL MY DAD DRIVES A BIGGER TRUCK!"
in conclusion, shut the fuck up you morons, trolling is supposed to be funny, and this has been far too repetitive for that.

Anyways, I got to use the Wii today thanks to a friend loaning me his system and loved it. The Wii remote is more accurate than I thought it would be, and after about 30 minutes of Zelda, controlling it with the remote/nunchuk combo came naturally. I was disappointed by how loud and tinny the sound effects coming out of the remote were, but it didn't bother me too much.
You can turn down the volume on the remote if you want. Press the home button on the controller, and select the first player controller with the cursor. It should let you turn the volume down, as well as turn off/on the rumble. But yeah, the quality itself of the speaker is a little... less than stellar.

$50 for Bust a Move? Give me a break, Majesco, that's a $20 game at best.
I hate next-gen price gouging, no matter what system it's on.
James
You gotta remember...this is the system for people who never played games. They don't know the difference. We say "Old ass series that has gotten shittier with almost every incarnation?" They say "Colors! fun let me waggle my arms"
I haven't had my Wii hooked up in a couple weeks now because I'm playing 360 nonstop. I'm not nearly the fanboy the 360 trolls make me out to be, it's just the only way they can digest opinions different from their own about Nintendo.
Just picked up Doom 3 Limited Edition for $16 at Circuit City, seems like a good deal since it's all 3 Doom games on one disc (as opposed to $10 for just Doom on XBLA).
I SAW A WII AT BEST BUY TODAY! I didn't buy it though. I had it in my hands and started looking at what games I would get, I proceeded to put it down and wait a long while until I get one because there really isn't anything I want to play all that much.
It was good to see one in a store though, and it was even better to know I have enough will power to pass on 2 new systems with no games even though I'm a sucker for new technology.

Well, at least the name's appropriate, unless that's just a shitty screen grab.
Impossible Mission is coming for Wii: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=137000
lol ssx blur
I was just coming in here to mention Impossible Mission. Much as I love the game, though, I wouldn't pay over $10 for the remake no matter what system it's on. It's a great game and a true classic, sure, but unless there's some major new content added I've already played it to death.
I might fork out a bit extra for the PSP version, though. Different platform, different criteria on what makes a game worth the money.
