Good times with Sedition, his brother, and his friend. Now that I finished all the campaigns on Advanced, it's time to hit Expert. I'll let you guys know via this thread when I'll be ready for a new campaign.

HAHAHA EXPERT GOOD FUCKING LUCK.
Sorry I couldn't make it, dinner went a bit late and the game was full by the time I hopped on.
If you follow the tips I posted in this thread, Expert isn't too hard. Destin thinks they take the fun out of the game, though.
I'd love to get back into this game, but my current schedule only allows me to play games an hour at a time. I can't sit there for hours like I could before, and Expert can sometimes take up to three hours since not everyone's going to be equally as good.
yeah gg's Cowdisease. Sorry my gf was flipping out on the phone for most of the last two sections... I finally hung up and we all survived the campaign. Expert is doable, but it does kind of drain the fun out of it. I checked last night and it looks like I've only beat two of the four campaigns on expert... even though I've been through all but Dead Air from beginning to end.
We'll do a campaign run on Expert. If it's way more frustrating than fun, then I won't even bother with the other campaigns.
As to when we'll do it, I don't know. I'm flying to Jersey for two weeks starting on Tuesday, and I'll be busy until then. If I have any free time, I'll let you guys know via this thread.
After about a year of hardly gaming at all, I decided to get this game via Steam, and it's pretty fucking awesome. If anyone wants to coop or whatever with me on Steam, my ID is Mykozo. Is there a Steam ID thread here on TNL so I can add people? I suck at this, help me out.
I just got the 360 version, so we can't play together. :(
Anyone willing to co-op?
My computer may be fixed in time for uh left for dead 2 when that comes out, mykozo. For some reason, you popping in this thread also is making me get a beer. Strange...
If you bought it this morning on 360... you got Ripped Off. Pricing mistake GO!
PC. I'd have to agree with Yoshi that getting this on 360 would most certainly be a platform mistake.
Grab two and drink mine for me.

I'm gonna play the "everybody I care to play with generally has the console version" card here.
Birds of a feather.
Not having to hear Yoshi talk = feature.
Let me get my Sharpie marker. oo baby /nohomo
Anybody like to race in this game? It really adds a certain je ne sais quoi.
The PC version is $15 on Steam right now.
I just traded in the 360 one for $20 a week or two ago so I'll be grabbing this tonight.
Now I just need a headset for my PC, I haven't played anything online on it in a very long time. Any cheap suggestions that I might be able to pick up locally?
I just beat the Crash Course DLC and it was a huge disappointment. The quality is no where near as good as the original levels. The level design is super simple and seems like it was made by a 3rd party mod team.
It really does feel like there was a rush to release this before L4D2 to appease the community. I would say if you are considering it on the 360, it is definitely not worth the money.
I have yet to try it on Versus, but I don't see my opinion changing to much.
I have both versions, down to play either.
TNL L4D on Steam at 10pm!
10? You douchebags need to play earlier. There are senior citizens that need to go to bed.
<3
Ugh.
If I can get my daughter to go to sleep at a reasonable hour, I definitely want to play.
i might be around!
You can get Nothing Special by playing a versus game of Crash Course and not spawning any specials.
Beat a short chapter and get the hardest achievement before they patch it, which they will.
Anyone up for running through some campaigns on the 360?
Tomorrow.
...Yes. Cow, I'm sorry I haven't been able to play with you guys yet! I am a horrible father.
I've got the 360 and PC versions now, so I'm up for both whenever.
Although I'm not looking forward to playing with a controller...
Game works like butter with a controller, do not worry.
does not compute.
Maaan I totally don't play enough to be worth a shit in an expert run, haha.
"WHY DID YOU SHOOT THE BOOMER AAAHHH"
Don't strafe to correct your aim like some Halo faggot, that'll get you my shotgun to your face.
Anyone want to play VS on 360 tonight?
I love VS but 90% of the random people you meet online are worthless idiots.
I'm getting on Steam now. If anyone wants to play the big kids version, send me an invite.
This number is false. 100% of the randoms I've played with have been completely fucking stupid. The only good games I've had were the (1 or 2) with TNLers or with my brother and his roommate.
VS is fucking awesome, and probably my favorite game mode, but playing with random people nearly completely ruins it.
I hope to get back to a gold account soon, then I will gladly join the shenanigans.
After the Yankees game I'll get on xbox and do whatever.
VS mode is so rowdy, but yes i agree that you cannot team up with randoms. seems like they all want to be Rambo when you play
HA! that's awesome!
Demo is out today. Preloading now via steam.
I can't believe I have a late meeting tonight. L4D2 tomorrow por favor.
Real L4D2 tonight. Send me an invite when you get on.
Nope.
Oh and the best part is that you can download and burn the 360 demo without having preordered shit and play it whenever you want.
Valve is fucking. UP.
Yeah, but it's unlocking tonight.
I'll believe it when I see it.
and rumpy i think you just download the demo from somewhere (torrents? i dunno), burn it to a dvdr and pop it in and it will install.
from valve chat:
mike (3): We're making progress and hope to have some news soon.
mike (3): We're still aiming at a release today.
yeah right.
What the fuck is the "progress"? If it's not done, what did I pre-load?
It's live, bitches!
I have a launch posse ready to roll and everything.
Dismemberment is fun. I <3 the machete.
Melee weapons seem way overpowered.
And the new sniper rifle is nuts.
The melee weapons need to be effective or else they're pointless and a complete waste of time. Why did they mess around with the corner stacking? You hit each other now so you can't huddle in a corner. Other than that I have no complaints. Very fun.
The Jockey is going to be a shit load of fun to be in multi.
Demo played on Expert and Beaten, yay.
Anyhow: new weapons are interesting and varied, boomer bile being my favorite so far. New infected are a big fuck you to corner stacking and hiding in tight spaces. Judgment: If you're still playing l4d1 you'll love this, more of the same, better graphics (huge improvement imho) the zombies dismember and tear apart like they do in house of the dead series. Zombie variety makes it a less of a run and gun, but only slightly. Daylight zombies are actually more fun
I likes it. Definitely not canceling my preorder.
Avoid it if you hated the L4D1 mechanics, concept or such. Its a more of the same but better sequel but it won't change anyone's minds.
Someone give me a pc demo code, please.
Actually, if I preorder now, can I get the pc demo?
That's how I got mine. Split a 4-pack.
How will Valve handle the extra Louisville slugger weapon for pre-purchasers, I wonder?
I have to believe that everyone who was gifted a part of a 4-pack will get one.
Yes I think everyone who has the game pre-purchased will (gifting counts on Steam as the same as a purchase). I'm just wondering how we will differ in-game with the bat than others. Will it only appear to us or appear to everyone but only we will be able to obtain it? Or do we start off with it in our hand? It better not just be the police baton with a different coat of paint. Though I can't complain either way - the prepurchase was cheaper AND the 4-pack was cheaper so it's a great deal for a game I was planning on buying anyway.
I understand you can smack things with a guitar?
Your source is reliable.
Fuck you, preorder geeks! A sneaky friend snuck me a DVD-R with the 360 demo.
Guitar smacking CONFIRMED. I like it a lot! Fuck the bat, there are guitars and frying pans!
Seems like the Boomer has been depowered a lot with the advent of the Spitter. Charger is good fun, and that jockey is fucking SCARY when the horde has caught up with you.
Scope sniper rifle is amazing. I love the riot gear zombies (who occasionally drop batons). Adrenaline boost > pain pills, also. I'm looking forward to the defibrillator revives in the full game!
Hey Nash,
Ya this is true about it i know that.thanks for sharing this here.
Thanks.
Most preorders don't work that way. GameStop's do, and I don't shop there. Amazon, for example, doesn't charge your card until the game ships, so there is no loan.
In the specific case of L4D2, I did indeed already pay epmode, but I saved something like 30%. No way I am getting 30% interest in a month anywhere.
I really like the New Orleans brass band version of the theme!
I ran through the 360 demo last night, it looks like this game is packing a lot more great ideas than I thought there were going to be. The new modes (especially Realism) sound terrific.
The guitar is serious, heads are demolished with that thing.
I played the 360 demo and it was definitely fun but this is just an expansion pack with minimal upgrades. I say this having zero knowledge of any play modes this might include.
New characters, settings, weapons, game mechanics... sounds like a sequel. If this was an Activision game, they'd have thrown some chrome effect on the UI and called it a day.
There is nothing in there that I saw that couldn't be done as downloadable. I'm ok with it though. This game with 3 friends is a fucking blast.
That's retarded. It's an entirely new game. I'm sure every game in history could be done as a download. But why? There's a lot going on here. new campaign, characters, tons of weapons, an entirely new melee gameplay mechanic, 4 new zombie classes, several entirely new game modes, new maps, new cut scenes.
That is a new game.
Good thing I only paid an expansion pack price then!
I dunno, I think the changes are pretty awesome. Unlike L4D1, there's a huge variety in weapons and items so you're constantly making tough decisions about what to carry. The new climax type really mixes shit up for Expert players too, not to mention VS.
L4D is to L4D2 as Unreal is to Every game that has ever used the unreal engine.
Except that L4D isn't the first Source engine game.
Which I will play with my daughter. Your point?
I enjoyed the first game, and the demo for part 2 was cool, but I didn't see anything different enough to make me want to rush out and buy it now. It's more of the same thing, which isn't bad necessarily, but this is too much like to the original for me to pay $60 right now.
Think about it: Valve did this in a year. VALVE. How different can it be if Valve finishes and releases it in such a short time?
Because the team that makes L4D (that Valve bought) don't stare at walls for 8 months out of a year.
lol @ $60. It's absolutely worth the < $35 I paid.
Putting Valve in capital letters is a good reason to buy the game, not to avoid it, even if it has been just a year.
I still don't know what I think of the original L4D, actually.
The campaign was cool, but I still haven't been motivated to take it on Expert. Versus mode gave me some quick thrills, but seems like an afterthought.
I don't know if I need L4D2. This is the first time I've felt indifferent about a Valve game.
Expert or GTFO. Anything less would be uncivilized.
Just beat the L4D2 demo. Pretty much ran through the second half of The Parish. I'm loving the new settings and weapons.
His intent was that Valve takes forever to do anything yet they releases the sequel in a year.
Still it's a sequel, was there really a lot to change about the first game to make it better?
