Indiana Jones 4

Did anybody get the preview for Eagle Eye? That's Shia LeBeouf's next movie and it actually looks good. I thought Harrison Ford did okay with his shit. He was very dry, but Indiana Jones is usually very dry when he's not in immediate peril.

Indiana Jones 4 felt like the new Star Wars prequels in line delivery. So George Lucas' terrible dialog is probably to blame. The man has become so obsolete. I really wish they had gone to South America to film this shit. At least Temple of Doom was over in Asia. That's one of things I loved about Last Crusade and Temple of Doom despite a few short comings. You got the sense that people were actually on Earth doing this dangerous stuff. I'm going to plead Dolemite's argument against CG in this one. The entire chase scene through the jungle should have been as much live-action as possible.

Yeah, but nothing can be worse than Anakin professing his love speech. That was among the worst on screen deliveries of the worst script writing in the biggest budgeted film ever.

I liked Shia a lot less than others did, apparently. I thought he was awful.

Lucas didn't write the script, David Koepp did. Blame him for stitching together five or so older scripts into one Frankenscript, blame Spielberg and Lucas for not shitcanning all the baggage from a decade of development hell, but Lucas didn't write it.

And I don't care what CHUD says, the raft in Temple went WAAAAAY over the line into Looney Tunes territory. The movie also had a cute animal sidekick for a bit, a little precocious kid to appeal to the young'uns, the worst MacGuffin of the series, a villain with absolutely no personality, and Willie being obnoxious. Raiders and Last Crusade never had these issues (though I still think LC has its own failings, primarily in softening Indy's rough edges and making him get every single iconic part of his personality and image within fifteen minutes of each other in the intro), but people have bitched about the absurd, schizophrenic tone of Temple for decades and it's only with the release of Kingdom that some people seem to be pretending Temple was ever on par with the others. It had the mine cart sequence, but aside from that I place it squarely alongside Kingdom.

Mine cart sequence in Temple > everything in Crystal Skull

Saw it, hated it. Reasons why have all been pointed out by others.
One thing that I didn't get, is when they reach the skull falls; Indy says something like, "You stay here, I have to do it myself because that is what they told me to do." Next scene, everyone is entering the cave. Did I miss something or not hear him correctly?

They're both mediocre movies, I just don't buy the idea that Crystal Skull is SO MUCH WORSE than Temple. It's a massive step down from Raiders, though, and a decent step down from Last Crusade.

I don't understand how some people can think that Last Crusade isn't the best of the Indy movies.
