VF4: Evolution, Bogus story at Gaming-Age?

A story today at Gaming-Age.com referring to a Virtua
Fighter 4: Evolution. I imagine the story is either bogus
or its real and gaming-age decided to fake a graphic
on their own. anyway, you be the judge. The fighters
in the graphic certainly look like Steve Fox and
Jin Kazama from Tekken 4. apologies if this story

It's real. As respected Japanese VG news sites such as Famitsu & Game Watch have reported it earlier.

Don't know what to think of those 2 new characters though. They look somewhat out of place compared to the rest of the VF cast...

Yeah they do look way to much like Jin and Steve so I'll wait until we get some more info.

If these two characters are legit, I'm hoping the Steve looking guy is a boxer since I'd like to see how the VF series would handle a boxer.

Indeed, That picture of 2 new fighters showes them looking different from the rest of VF crew, especially guy on the right, he looks suspiciously like Jin in Tekken 4.

I guess we will have to wait and see for more info about these extras.

after seeing the famitsu and gamewatch links, my guess is that someone got jumpy, and excised images of the Tekken fighters to use as a VF4 graphic. in any case, hopefully there will be more information and better pictures up soon.

It will come to Xbox, i'm sure Microsoft will offer huge amounts of money for such an exclusive because it's exactly the game the Xbox needs to revive hopes in Japan. Microsoft reps keep confirming that a version of VF4 will come to Xbox and the UK OXM have it down in their release lists. Aint no smoke without a fire... or some other cliché ^_^

No Taka Arashi? Damn.

I never cared much for the guy, but I hate the fact that they nixed him. The more the merrier, and that fatass is a LOT more.

Those 2 new guys look SO lame and cliche. One of 'em looks like he's from a Rockstar-developed title.

I cant wait to see VF4 without the Jaggies and "sparkle" that the PS2 version has. My only problem is having to abandon my PS2 Kumite characters...if only there were a way to convert PS2 data to XBOX data...

Hmmm... Interesting. I actually like their designs, though they are quite different from the usual VF design (whatever that is). I'm interested in hearing details on how those characters play.

Certainly not bogus. Check those links that dorikyasu posted. You can see people playing as those characters (and other stuff like banners and marquees showing the characters) in pics there.

'Sega’s last meeting proved to be very interesting as new installments of Sega Rally, Sonic, and House Of The Dead were confirmed. One of the more elusive titles announced at the meeting was Virtua Fighter Evolution. As part of the Xbox Summer Conference 2002 that’s currently being held in Japan, Sega unveiled new details on Virtua Fighter Evolution. According to Famitsu the upcoming game will be, at its core, a remix of Virtua Fighter 4 with new gameplay modes, Mission and Quest mode. The game will also show off Go Himori and Brand Brurns, two of the newest characters to grace the Virtua Fighter series. All of this was revealed with screenshots and a movie on the side for good measure.

While a release date wasn’t announced, seeing as the game wasn’t listed on the updated software page, its unlikely this game will see the light of day before 2003. Stay with us for more news as it develops. '

I find it hard to believe Sega showed VF4 Evo at Xbox Summer Conference 2002 unless it was definitely coming to XB.

i guess its cool its coming but i jsut think its fucked up of them to deny the game so strongly and then people say well its not ocming to antyhign else let me guy it on the PS2 and then to go announce this

i just think its shitty of the head guy who so strongly said there would ne no other version of the game

They didn't say anything about it being on the X-Box. The only thing we know is that the game is real, it's going to be released in Japan at the arcades very soon, and it's developed on the Naomi 2. And screw the X-Box. What is it at now? Like...800 units a week or something? Niiiice.....:confused:

Maybe its got to do with trying to promote the sales of PS2 version more, because many people would have just wait for better Xbox version, istead of PS2 one. But now, PS2 version already sold alot of copies, so with Xbox release they expect to get more.

1-It was showed at a MS conference, it's going to XB.

2-XB outsold GC in japan by almost double recently.

Well after seeing the two new characters they look...em...ok..I guess. Hopefully their fighting styles will make up for their lack of interesting design.

EThugg: Yeah your probably right.As long as the new VF upgrade comes out on either the GC or Xbox I'll be happy(Not to hit against the PS2 but I would like some arcade perfect graphics to go along with that gameplay).

i still think its fucked up and one of the things majorly wrong with gaming today

personally i think some thing like this will hurt sales more than it would help them
i dont knwo maybe its different on the forum here but most people i know are not going to run out and buy the Xbox version now theyre going to say i bought the game allready screw it im not buying it again

i just think to so strongly deny it and then bassicaly show the game no less then a month after you so strongly deny its existence

Most people who care about arcade perfect conversions would buy the xbox to play this imo. Although Yu did a great job with what he had on the ps2 and the time given, it just wasn't powerful enough.(despite people's hopes of a perfect conversion. Mainly those who hadn't bothered to research the naomi 2 hardware in comparison to the ps2 limits)

And why would it be so hard to believe sega releasing this for the xbox? They are a third party software company now with no loyalties (apart from thier 1 year exlcusivity thing). If they want to make money they'd promote this later down the track so as not to interfere with arcade and ps2 vf games. It happened with Tecmo's doa2 (exclusive to dc for a while until they changed the name to skirt around it) and doa2:hardcore (the ps2 game) and it's going to happen with this. If I were sega I'd probably do the same thing. The demand is certainly there and it would make perfect sense to capitilise on both platforms. I'm a believer that third parties like sega and stuff should just be given thier freedom to work on whatever they want instead of caterering to the lowest common denominator only.

From what I can gather from both Famitsu & Game Watch reports, VF4 Evolution was shown at Sega's own private show (Sega Private Show 2002 Spring), not as the part of MS conference (Xbox Conference 2002 Summer)...

However, both shows were reported back-to-back on both Japanese sites, so I can see how someone could mistake as being the same show.

Xbox certainly is a good candiate for VF4 Evo port, but we should wait until Sega themselves officially announce it...

Keep dreaming EThugg. While your positive thinking is commendable, the X-Box is dying a quick death in Japan. Stores are already getting in used X-Box systems and it's quickly becoming a distant third in the console wars over in Japan. However, I won't hate on someone who is so heavily believes that it will some how do well over in Jap town.

With all that, I will say that the possibilities of VF4 Evolution being on the X-Box is very high, but I personally would rather not see it on a dying system. Heh. Gamecube or PS2 please.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see it released on Xbox, no matter how vehemently Sega has denied it. This wouldn't be the first time we'd see Sega swear something and then do the exact opposite. Their corporate word is as hollow as the plot of a Tom Green film.

How does that make any sense? If they sell even one copy of this to an Xbox owner with no plans to get a PS2, then sales have improved. Heck, if they even sell one copy period, sales have improved.

This last week's Japanese sales figures. They're all over the web. Check Magic Box or any Xbox forum, where they're all crowing about this, I'm sure.

It wasn't huge - the numbers were like GC: 3K, XB: 6K, PS2: 50K.

Anyway, I'm pumped about this news, since I can't wait for a perfect home version. My list of reasons to buy a PS2 is down to like 5...

The new fighters do look very Tekken, I just hope they don't play like them. I'd hate to lose such a great game to such crap, but at least I have the regular VF4 if that's the case. A boxer could be fun, though I'd really prefer someone looking more along the lines of Dudley's style. He was cool.

Hmm... interesting, I wouldn't mind seeing VF4 on X-Box, with the new announcement of Spikeout on the machine, I'll finally have an excuse to import the console, especially since I would like to get Shikigami and Tekki.

I'm sorry, but I tend to trust the reports from established VG news sites like Famitsu, Gamespot Japan, Game Watch, Dengeki Online, and certain Japanese company called Sega's official website than some western fansite reports. :p

Isn't anyone really looking at the implication this game could have on the xbox sales in japan?

If microsoft gets this game and makes it playable on their xbox live network in japan. The xbox will gain some major sales. I would garner it to be almost as huge as what FF VII did for PS.

I can't believe no one thought of this yet?

I am off to trade in my VF 4 copy now or if anyone wants to buy it off me drop me a PM.
