I've had my logitech wireless mouse for over 5 years now, and it hasn't given me any problems. It has a USB dock, but I like how it uses AA's. The batteries last me at least 3-4 months, and the other day I bought a 24 pack of batteries for $8.

I use this Logitech X510, and I've never had a problem accidentally hitting the thumb buttons because the thumb rest is actually below the buttons. It's a great mouse, but it's only for right hands and it might be too big for some people. I don't use the other 3 extr buttons at all in Vista, but tey make good buttons for expose in OSX.
Oddly enough, I don't mind the Might Mouse. And, yes, mine is wired.
However, I should add that I haven't been exposed to a wide selection.
Unrelated: I learned the obvious the other day: don't buy used iPods.
Why's that? I've bought used before and never had problems. Buy used ones and have the first owner transfer iPod Protection Plans to your name, silly.
So what other useful apps are out there? I have CyberDuck, Transmission. I use meebo.com for my internet chat
