Maybe next month.
It's an extremely nice bit of hardware. WAY more grunt than any netbook I've ever used, full size keyboard and a really reasonable battery life all add up to this being my new go-to computer. Toying with the idea of syncing my iTunes library via dropbox so I can sync my phone and iPad to either of my machines, but it sounds like a pretty big hassle.
iOS 4.2.1 will be up within the next 3 hours. yes, that includes iPad.
will it?
will it really?
It's here. Finally, I can leave IRC open and do other things on my iPad.
Updating and restoring 5 devices and updating OSX on 2 machines = LOL.
I did that last night! Took forever.

iOS 4.2 is a huuuuuuge upgrade on iPad. It feels like the machine it should have been on day one.
The ability to switch between apps without completely reloading them is great, but the iOS multitasking interface is so shit. The process for closing apps is absurdly clumsy.
Anyone have the scoop on the Black Friday "deals" that Apple is hinting at?
For Black Friday, all Apple products will only cost a leg, instead of an arm and a leg.
I would expect maybe an iTunes gift card with your purchase.
Other than your homosexuality, no, Fruit Ninja won't affect anything.
Get fucked. Fruit Ninja is fucking epic.
You're supposed to use it to get at apps you recently closed, not apps you had open last week.
So 360 Panorama for iPhone updates in a few hours, dropping to 99c and adding this totally killer feature - http://occip.it/pynbket0j
Here's mine. Looks like shit. Best dollar spent ever.

Were you standing at the top of a hill?
Nope. Flat ground. That's the alley behind my apartment.
Looks like it's simulating being drunk.
Lol here's some crazy neo cubist rendering of my backyard.
http://occip.it/pt3bzvh5
For it's intended purpose, I think this program is shit. For potentially getting interesting and fucked up pictures it is pretty awesome.
I don't know what the fuck you're doing, but you're doing it wrong.
Our office - http://occip.it/py74iph0j

I'm holding the phone steady, and slowly turning in a circle whilst panning up and down. What are you doing?
in before my mom
Obviously not panning up and down.
You have to pan up and down to fill up the image grid thing. Have you used this program, or are you just talking out of your pussy hole?
Panning isn't the right word, btw... I think "tilt" is?
I'mma talk out my ass too, having never used the program, but I don't think you should be tilting.
ITT: loose lips sink ships.
There is no way to capture the entire image without tilting. Whenever this nigger on Kangaroo time checks back in, he may be able to tell you the same thing.
I'm buying it and using it just to shut you up.
DO IT FAGGOT
fuck I have to make a twitter account now?
You don't have one? noob.
http://occip.it/pt3c7uhw
You fill the entire grid by standing still, tilting up and down and rotating in place. Noob.
hey you can use the mousewheel to zoom in and out while looking, wheeee
Never used exercise bike - Check
Cardboard box used as headboard of bed - Check
DK Jungle Beat bongos - Check
Spongebob pillow cover - Check
Fake stratocaster - Check
Peanut butter cups - Check
My bed isn't in the living room, that's another couch. The box is from my AWESOME new computer chair.
Yep. That's exactly what I did. Perhaps the tilt sensors on my phone are fucked. The grid would start to tilt and/or spin around when i wasn't even moving.
Here's the "office" I'm working out of today: http://occip.it/pt3c7wsk
I'm frightened.
What iPhone you both have would probably be helpful. The tilt stuff is a lot different in 4th gen phones.
Maybe! I'm on the 4.
There's your answer, fishbulb.
3g = No three axis gyroscope
Thank you. My fee is $150.00
I'm not paying.
I'll see you in small claims court. Maybe you can take a fucked up picture of the courtroom with your busted ass phone.
Up next: 360 panoramic photo of Dave's mother's asshole.
I'll try it with my 3gs and see if it's our fault for have TEHOLDPLUSBUSTED
It's probably my fault. I usually stick my phone on top of my amp when I play, and the vibrations probably broke something.
it was your hymen
Yeah iPhone 4 here too.
That last one looks like an Escher painting. Awesome.
I've been working on taking smoother, yet more fucked up pictures. I'll post again once I've mastered it.
tip. pointing the camera at your face, and then spinning in a slow circle produces horrifying results.
Can anyone recommend a decent, light wysiwyg html editor? Just something basic to throw together 10 minute hacks and proof-of-concepts and the like. Would rather keep the CS5 suite off of my Air.
Text editors are wysiwyg if you're Tank or Dozer. Like me.
Anyone know how to publish a mobile me calendar to a 3rd party server so non-mobile me users can view and edit it?
Don't come in here and tell me to do some old shit that doesn't work anymore, btw.
You could just export it as an ical file then import it into a public (or private and invite niggas) google calendar?
So hows Infinity Blade?
Isn't there an apple thread in gaming discussion for your faggy games?
Any word on when Apple will be updating their laptop line? I am looking to buy a MBP next year and am trying to plan out my big purchases for 2011.
I just got a MacBook Air 11.6.
I love it.
Runkeeper is free right now. You should get on it, it is way awesome.
Is that news to anyone at all?
I also totally recommend the RunKeeper Pro app. It's a fantastic motivator. I've tried and failed so many times, but with RunKeeper I ran 344 miles, burned 63300 calories and lost 66lbs since starting to use it in May 2010. Literally life changing.
I'm tempted to buy an iPhone 4 today.
Do it. They're fucking excellent.
I'm gonna try to wait until summer.
Be interesting to see if it's a major rev, or more of an update like the 3G > 3GS was. I think I'm going to skip the next version, unless I can scam an upgrade somehow.
So, Mac AppStore opens in like 24 hours. Excited? Hate it? Poop in your mother's mouth? If it's anything like the iOS store (and it will be) I'm probably going to get a lot out of it.
Did it. Fucking love it. So now I have an iPhone and MacBook Pro. Steve Jobs owns my soul.
This screen is gorgeous.
Mac AppStore is cut-and-paste exactly the same experience as the iOS app store, by which I mean slick as hell. I grabbed the official twitter client and chopper 2 to see how it all worked. I wish you could save your password, though.
Also like how it can see all the apps I already had installed.
Is there a shortcut for clearing the list of recently opened apps in iOS? All at once? 'Cause this system is seriously effing stupid.
I don't know of one, but count me as interested. I have had seriously mixed feelings about the multitasking because of that for a while.
HURRR BUT WHY NOT?
And if I wanted to at once clear last week's open apps? I am baffled by your defense of this interface, it is embarrassingly bad for Apple. But I suppose you paid money for it and can't stomach not being 100% satisfied, even at the expense of your objectivity and reason.
Why do you want to clear last week's apps? I just don't understand what it is you're trying to acomplish.
And for the record, I paid exactly $0.00 for each and every device I own, and my apps, so the old Console Wars shit doesn't apply here. You're complaining about the lack of a feature which would have a net effect of Nothing.
Look!
52 processes, 33 apps in the tray:

Memory:

Science!
The app tray is so plainly bad that I can't fathom your defense of it. You've asked me "why" and "what" when the subject is a clump of dried poo and I almost don't know what to say.
Why would I want to clear it? Because it's a cluttered mess if I don't. Because it will soon contain the icons of every app on my iPad, in disarray. And because if it gets to that point it only highlights how utterly redundant the app tray is. It is as best a mildly convenient UI alternative--in practice, double-clicking the home button and selecting an app from the tray is no faster than clicking a program closed and opening the desired app from my organized home screen, only slighty less visually jarring. That Apple gave third party apps the power of save states is the real benefit to function, and that is separate from the app tray. The app tray is a UI disaster.
I got used to it. Sometimes it's quicker, sometimes the hone screen is.
I use it all the time to bounce between 3 or 4 apps I frequently use without dropping to the home screen - Safari, Mail, Twitter or whatever. If it's not in my first 4 apps, I open whatever folder it's in and launch it from there. If it's not in the first 4 apps - it's not there at all.
You're weird and I don't think you're willing to actually understand what the app tray is for. Which is fine. Have fun killing all your tasks for no reason :)
Also, I read Josh's post as 'horn screen'.
So the net is that it doesn't suck any resources to leave everything in the background?
Sup verizon.
Can't wait until the CDMA ones start dropping calls like crazy and wait for people to still insist the problem is the network.
I like the mobile hot spot feature. I wonder how Apple will handle the new models this summer? Will Verizon people get screwed after four months, or will they always be ~eight months behind AT&T?
The retards that jump on this shit right now will be fucked, apple will laugh all the way to the bank.
Simple...there wont be a new iPhone in the summer. What are they going to change? Maybe they will re-do the housing some to fix the death grip issues, but thats about it.
The only reason for a new phone is LTE. And Apple isn't ready for it, just like they were ready for 3G until a model later.
Also: Don't be surpised if the data is more expensive than other smartphones.
I'd confidently get this one now, simply because it isn't really lacking anything in my eyes. It has a great processor and an amazing screen.
512mb of ram as a spec is becoming slightly outdated, but only if you've got an Android device. iOS doesn't seem to be suffering from lack of ram.
Jailbreaking makes the hotspot thing a non-issue.
Well, the 3GS was just a (much needed) spec bump to keep up with their plans for iOS, as they were still happy with the form factor of the 3G. Since it is very unlikely they are going to change up the form factor again this summer, and people aren't really clamoring for any features it doesn't already have, then presumably the only reason to release a new model would be to bump up the tech specs. Unless some really crazy changes are coming to iOS, they won't need more powerful hardware, so why is it so unbelievable that they would skip it this year? The fact that it's unprecedented doesn't mean it wouldn't make sense. If anything, launching the iPhone 4 on Verizon right now makes it less likely that there will be a new model in the summer. They certainly don't have to worry as much about dangling the annual carrot to get people to re-up their contracts now that they are on multiple carriers. People that get sick of AT&T's network can just go to Verizon and still get an iPhone.
