Metal Gear Solid HD Collection

Picked it up and was pretty stunned by how much easier it is to make out certain things in MGS3 now. Plus that frame rate. Holy crap, THAT FRAME RATE!

So yeah, a really good improvement to my fav MGS, MGS2 (it's...not too terrible?) and Peace Walker seems pretty fun so far. Kinda arcadey in a way...

MG1 and 2 are nice as well. Really stunned that it looks like they took time to tweak so much, than just be lazy and run some vaseline filter on everything.

I remember the fight against The Fury (and the following cutscene with all the faces in the flames) would just strangle the PS2 and the frame rate would dip damn near into single digits. It was crazy actually seeing it in it's intended form.

The effort they put into these ports really is impressive. It's probably wishful thinking, but I hope the Silent Hill collection that's on the way shows the same kind of polish.

If that's a serious question, it's aspect ratio, as in non-widescreen tv. Party like it's 1999.

PS1 MGS still holds up well. I played through it a few years back.

As good a job they did with 2,3 and PW, I would have paid $60 if they had put MGS1 in there. It is still my favorite.

Eh. I guess I'm cool without this, then. I had only JUST picked up the Sub*** PS2 versions for cheap-ish right before this was announced. I'd really only get this for Peace Walker I guess. Suppose I'll wait.

That's what I thought too, but for $30 you get two really impressive ports AND Peace Walker. Like, I thought the PS2 collection I had was good enough but now...? The improvements are well worth it and Peace Walker with dual stick controls is a really good value in its own.

Twin Snakes on expert or whatever the highest difficulty is, was some of the most fun I have had with the series. I would hardly call it without challenge.

The cutscenes were silly though, they hired some Japanese movie director to do them, I forget, he made movies I didn't care about.
