Slashdot has no reading comprehension. Robert X doesn't say that Google is "looking to create a bandwidth shortage", he states that changes in internet usage patterns will cause the shortage. Google is simply anticipating this. If 5% of internet users are consuming 50% of internet bandwidth by bitorrenting movies, it's easy to see that that percentage will naturally increase in time. Google is just forecasting this change by creating giant data centers that ISPs will have to rely on, eventually (due to bandwidth shortages).
Smart move on Google's part, I'm surprised no other companies are doing the same.

yeah this basically summarizes to "google is going to make another akami-like service", which doesn't really constitute supervillainy

I actually have two of their toys boxed. (i'm a sucker for transformable anything. Even cars that change into surfboards apparently.)
Never saw the actual cartoon until i was in a Walmart a few months ago and they had a few in the $1 DVD display.
What a horrible horrible show.
