I want to use this splitter to split the component video feed from my AV receiver (that only has 1 component out) to both my sdtv and my HD-capable monitor (that has component in). Will this degrade the signal if I'm only running one display off the component out at a time even though both are hooked up?
Most likely it will not be a problem. It will come down to how well they made the connectors on the two displays, but I can't imagine them not being decently isolated by any major electronics company.
edit: Another possible solution. Get a cheap component switcher and hoot it up in reverse. Instead of selecting the source, select the display. That will isolate the displays from each other as long as you don't plan on using them together.
Eh. For $6+shipping it's worth just taking a shot. I'm trying to avoid adding another piece of equipment if I can help it.

Not necessarily. Look how many times Best Buy splits theirs. Of course it looks like ass at BB sometimes, but they're probably doing at least 5-10 sets off a line, 2 should be easy. Receivers should be designed to have minimal effect on the transmission line, so that is my educated guess.Quote:

If the splitter is not powered there will be signal degredation. If you're only splitting once it's probably negligible, depending on how close you look and how anal you are.
But the signal only degrades if multiple displays are running the video, not merely hooked up...right?

LOL. I didn't know you were the component cable source. In any event I have the cables I need, just not the means to split them yet.
Yeah. I can hook u up next time. I brought 4 packs of components for Razor. I also brought like 30 packs of Optical Cables. I have those and SPDIF's up the waaazooo.
In this office I have over 100 optical cables and 200 SPDIF's.
