Floyd, like Sabbath have a certain undefinable whiteboy funk thing that they do. You don't find that sort of thing amongst your usual popular rockers, then or now.
I've never been into Sabbath much, probably for the same reason a lot of people don't like Floyd. I've only been exposed to the same tired shit the radio has been playing for the last thirty years.
Tell me where to start.
Ozzy era Sabbath is about 50/50. The best is amazing. The worst ranges fromokay but played out to just plain hippy faggotry. I just listen to it off my hard drive or make my own mix CD's so I only hear what I like. All I can say is that the worst album is Vol 4 and my fave is Sabotage. But even that is only about 50% good.
Classic rock can be a tough nut to crack.
Now, this is a story all about howQuote:

My life got flipped-turned upside down
And why the fuck would Marshall Mathers get a job if he can do this and get paid?
He is doing it in almost every track, and it's much more pronounced here. All the songs sound like muppet rap to me. He needs to use his real voice more.
Em's raps are really well constructed, complex meter, sharp lyrics a lot of the time, but I don't know what he's doing with the goofy voices on this album, and he might be running out of subject matter, too. I give him credit for not rapping about rims and champagne, but he's repeating himself in ways that sound a bit forced.
I dunno, maybe hip-hop is dead.
Been listening to a lot of jesu lately and getting discouraged over the fact that I badly want to see them play live again but probably won't because of what a hassle it is for small-time foreign bands to come play U.S. shows.
It's a white fucking rapper who is mega platinum. What the fuck does he have to do with the state of hip hop?
Also he has no complex meter. Just like most untrained musical people he has a couple of cadences that come natural to him and he uses these over and over and over. His cadences are a little different (did I mention he's WHITE) but that doesn't make them especially complex.
