Hey! Me again! Posting another thread that I'm sure will last all of five posts! :D
This one is about spine cards. Saturn, Dreamcast, what-have-you. How do you guys store your spine cards? Do you keep them with the game? Do you keep them all in one place, snuggly fit together? Or do you trash them?
Always in the middle of the manual, which sometimes mangles the edges but I don't bother trying to rip the CD casing out just to hide a spine card there forever. I'd rather have a damaged piece of paper than a busted case. I don't throw them out, though.
I've just kind been putting mine in a safe place and letting them pile up (not that I have so many that it could even be considered a pile).
Hmm...I guess I should file them or keep them with the game. I can read a bit of Japanese, but someday I'm sure I won't be able to place the correct card with the correct game. I think I'll go do that now.
In the past I have stored them between the two layers of plastic behind the game disc.
A generic broken jewel case is a lot easier and cheaper to replace than a spine card.
I keep all my spine cards in a empty Saturn Metal Slug/RAM box. Once in a while I use them as bookmarks too but not enough to cause damage.
Anyone particular to a certain system's cards?
I've found the most interesting designs so far on old PCE CD/SCD cards, Saturn is nice too. Though DC has some sexy case design, the spine cards are very boring... *-neo
Heh, this was one of the first topics I made back at GameGO!. I keep all my spines behind the back cover of the jewel case facing out. This way they are preserved perfectly and I can still see them easily. Removing the cd tray is not as hard as some would have you believe.
And I disagree, neo- Dreamcast packaging (spines included) is some of my favorite aesthetically, right up there with PCE. I've always disliked the Saturn spines. Ugly colors.

I toss 'em. I don't care about a little slip of cardboard that has Japanese writing that I can't read, and since I never sell anything, the potential value drop doesn't mean anything to me either.
I had no idea they were valued, but I kept them anyways (even for my soundtracks). Occasionally they've been used as makeshift bookmarks, but they're mainly stored in a Case Logic CD organizer.
Yeah, I love import DC packaging, and the spines look nice on a wrapped game, but once they are off...they all seem to look the same. Hmm perhaps I will them another look.Quote:

I agree, Saturn's logo strip is pretty ugly but there's a number of nice Saturn spines: Dracula X, Thunderforce Gold Pack Vol 2, and Outrun come to mind.

I keep my spine's in the case with the game. Either I stick it in horizontally in the middle of the game's instruction book, if it fits and I can still close the CD case, or I keep 'em latched onto the back of the instructions in single jewel cases.
Spine cards aren't SUPER important to me, however. I don't make them prohibitive when it comes to buying or trading for a game. Condition of case, instructions, and CD are far more important to me :)

Anyway, I keep my loose spines in a box and the others I VERY CAREFULLY slip behind the tab that holds the manual. I have yet to damage a spine in this manner. As I am sure you can tell by my sig, spine cards are very important to me. For those curious, I've got a pic of all my loose spine cards on my site, under the "pics of my setup" section. I've gotten a few new Saturn spines, but for the most part it's accurate. It's downright impossible to find someone who will sell their spine cards. They are content with throwing them out...
I feed them to my hamsters. Then I take pictures of them and send them to UndeadKing. :)
Unless they have really pretty pictures on them, they go right in the trash. I have enough crap laying around as it is. :)
i eat all my spine cards. that way, when i poop there's a nice little label wrapped around that cute little brown log that came from my ass :D
I use Seal King bags on all my games, so the spinecards stay right in their original place on the outside of the jewelcase. The bag keeps them nice and secure just like the original shrinkwrap did.
I keep my spine cards ... on the actual spine of the game. They look the best that way, instead of hiding them inside the case or something. And I haven't damaged one by keeping it exposed, since all my game disks are kept in seperate jewel cases, so I don't have to go rummaging through the cases each time I want to pull out a game.
They're all still folded and stacked together laying on top of my NGPC box on the second from the bottom shelf where I keep most of my games.

The bigger DC (thick case) spines are on the outside, of course.
When I first got into import CD games with Silpheed on Mega CD, I actually crazy glued the spine cards to the jewel case. I did that to a few other Mega CD games too. After realizing what a STUPID idea this was, I just keep them in the manual.
I have also scanned and printed inserts for people. It looks great. Almost better than the orginal, if you use the right paper stock. Sure, it's not the real deal. But it's better than nothing. Think of it as a place holder until you find the real one.
I can vouch for this since JefmcC did one for me, it looks great and except for different stock and slight finish difference it looks just like the originals :)Quote:

I keep in them in the center of the manual, where the staples show. They're not really that important, I usually don't care if they come with a game or not, but I won't through them out.
I open the case and carefuly pull off the part where the CD goes and put it there. Therefor I can see the obi strip (spine card) when I pull the disc from the jewel case.
Some people I know do the same but make it visible from the back of the package. I personally like to keep the back of the case visible...
