Time Warner should hand Boston a check for $1M but be totally defiant about it. Put "Thanks for the publicity, Brady choked!" on the re line.

I'm on a roll.
They lost, and their was a bill passed soon after prohibiting the ability to sue a fast food chain for making you fat. i think it's called the hamburger bill or something.
I saw an apologize last night on AS from Willaim Street and had no idea what they were talking about. Now that i know.
LOL
Yeah I like how it's being called a "failed hoax" - ATHF is making front page news and the movie and TV show (and Adult Swim/Cartoon Network) are getting massive coverage on national TV.
Sounds like guerrilla marketing Mission Accomplished to me.
None taken. Mayor Street and his croonies are fucktards that have no clue.
The local news affliates were interviewing one of the guys responsible for putting up the Moonites and the guy wanted to hidden incase Street arrests him right there.
The next thing you know one of the Mayor's asshole directors were there saying its a disgrace and shit like that. Then they pointed to the kid and said him and Turner will be fined 1500 a day, until they take it down.
So glad I live in NJ. THOUGH NJ isn't much better.
This is another example of the pure pussification of the natoin that has taken place over the last 10 years.
Seriously, stop being such god damned vaginized, America.
Graffiti implies changing your surroundings. You don't have to fuck anything up.
Well then I graffiti'd the crap out of the street when I got really drunk on Saturday.
These guys are my new heroes. Seriously. They had a press conference and totally shit all over every single reporter there.
I think I know of another government that wouldn't allow any such advertising. North Korea's. Is that what Boston wants to be?
There is no possible way this story could get any more funny. I saw that press conference today and nearly shat.
It is hysterical. And that is what makes it so sad. We have become a joke.
Comedy used to be an escape from reality. Now it is reality.
came in to post the fox news youtube but see that it's already here so I'll just join in on the laughter train
Choo Choo!
"Smoke while you are doing so..."
Class just ended. Just watched the conference.
Beautiful. Thank you, guys. That's what I was looking for. The guys that hired you pussied out, though.
I'm hoping the public supports them by acting just as silly.
Found this on my friend's LJ
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...528888a184.jpg
There's actually some relevance to that. Never forget the time the nation lost its fucking mind.
These uptight people should be glad that it what just the mooninites giving them finger instead of the DIGITAL DONG!

Boston is hilarious.
I'm surprised there was not just as big of an uproar over Microsoft's failed Lochness Monster hoax that went down today.
MS placed some adds on websites and in magazines. The adds did not look like the Lochness Monster and MS never made any claims that they were the Lochness Monster. Well, turns out they were in fact, not the Lochness Monster. Looks like MS's Lochness Monster hoax blew up right in it's face!
No, what they say is "there's no such thing as bad publicity" which is shorthand for "bad publicity can frequently (but not always) be turned around into something positive with a great deal of effort."
People not understanding this phrase has done more to fuck with marketing than anything I can think of.
imo
Hah!
Man, those guys are pretty cool, in my book. I don't think even I have the balls to shit on those reporters like that.
AS needs to put an LED Ignignot flipping the bird on the cover of the next ATHF set. And the movie needs to be changed to include SOMETHING about this.
Agreed.
Hell, make that the movie poster.

The full, non-Fox version of the press conference. Most of the good stuff was in the clip they showed, but it's a cleaner version.
Best press conference ever. Ever!
James
Total overeaction by both the national and local press and governments. Embarrissing.
It's a shame, because I bet a higher percentage of Bostonians know what the hell a moononite is than in any other city, what with the dozens of colleges and statistics showing its the weed smoking capital of the country. A couple clueless whistleblowers make everyone look bad.
Boston is just fucking ubelievably stupid. I heard the mayor calling for the FCC to revoke the broadcast license of the Cartoon Network. He doesn't even know it's a fucking cable channel and not governed by the FCC.
Of course I've heard this same mayor of Boston struggle to sound out the word "barn" reading from a children's book. And he's been the mayor for 13 years. They're just morons.
Ehh, whatever, I'm drunk. If you wanna waste your time looking for typos in people's posts and checking your own posts for correct grammar, then have a blast.
Turns out they found a fake pipe bomb under a bridge thats a few blocks from my apartment, and some shit went down in DC before all this, and thats the major reasons why the Boston police initiated all this. Also, some creep made a threat at a hospital where another fake pipe bomb was found. The link below gives a timeline.
http://www.bpdnews.com/2007/02/messa..._commis_2.html
Why is it that the real bombs were overshadowed by people blowing up over THIS POST 9-11 WORLD? It seems like someone should have realized the ATHF stuff wasn't a threat after they found the first. I think it'd be more of a concern if they weren't in easy to see places.
Good point. One would think terrorists wouldn't have put giant, lit markers on bombs they make to destroy things. It's the equivalent to the terrorists sending a fax to the White House the day before 9-11 happened. Criminy.
wait a fuggin minute. There were actual pipe bombs? THEN TALK ABOUT THE FUKIN PIPE BOMBS. Why are these two stoner dudes being blamed for what some crazy bastard did on the same day? If there was an actual bomb threat during all of this, then yeah I can understand. If they said:
"Ok we found out that these things were light brights, but not only did someone call these in as bombs but there was an actual pipe bomb situation that we were dealing with. We decided to rather be safe than sorry and make sure that we didnt have a real situation on our hands"
The above statement would have made them look intelligent and not whiney bitches.
Everyone go vote no:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16923848/
I voted no.
Internet, since Wednesday: Wow, Boston's stupid for overreacting so much.
News Media, today: Wow, Boston's stupid, for overreacting so much, right, guys? Hey, interns! Write us some silly articles so that people forget we jumped the gun as much as Boston and immediately started pointing fingers!
Internet ftw. The Internet should rule the world. We sat by here, laughing. Watching. Waiting. We knew the score. It took the newsmedia THREE DAYS to catch up to our precognitions and awesome, pop-culture references.
THE INTERNET SHOULD RULE.
76% of us voted no.
Nice.
My girlfriend knows the one in dreadlocks. lols
I made one of these on my light brite and put it in my window out of celebration... it doesn't look quite right, but it's good enough for me.
Make your own virtual bomb:
http://sfpg.com/animation/litebrite.html
Security expert Bruce Schneier summarized the whole bruhaha quite nicely.
right on
That little princess bitch got what she deserved.
I expect to see a South Park episode making fun of all this soon.
If I had seen one of these up on a wall or building somewhere, I wouldve taken that shit down and hung it up inside my house.
That's what New York did. They only found 2 of the 41 that were put up in NYC.
This is fantastic.
It's almost too cartoony to begin with to be able to satarize? I mean where do you go from bomb squads blowing up lite brites?
O&A had a good line about the incident: The only way that those could have been an actual threat was if it was Gotham City and they exploded purple hypno-gas.
I saw a sildeshow GIF of these things actually up. They looked really cool. Shame this nonsense happened. :(
From CNN - Headline:
Massachusetts attorney general says Turner Broadcasting System and Interference Inc. to pay $2 million for a Cartoon Network advertising campaign that caused a widespread bomb scare.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070205/...icious_devices
Story link.
Can't believe Turner buckled. Shame on them! Grow a spine! Common sense is dead! Widespread would imply that a city other than Boston blew it out of proportion. I wish I could sue Boston to get that $2 million back.
Pussies. There is NO reason they should have to pay for anything other than your standard graffiti fine.
We are so fortunate that retards didn't bash into themselves with foriegn objects and/or each other, as that was the only concieveable manner in which this could've injured someone. Please, help save our communities and do nothing to spook idiots, because if they die off then clearly everyone suffers.Quote:
"We are fortunate that no one was injured," Coakley said. "We hope that this painful lesson will not be lived or learned again either by the communities involved or ... Turner Broadcasting and Interference."
Turner should have known the the paranoid area of Boston would have reacted like this, they deserve to pay the fines if only for underestimating the stupidity of a city.
So, we've learned something today: Bostonians are too stupid to deserve anything. Nobody should market to them or sell them anything or give them antibiotics.
Turner should pay in singles and write THA MOON RULEZ on each bill.
You understand me, then! Isn't it a great idea?
Sorry about your future lack of medicine and advertisements.
http://www.myspace.com/zebblerHere befriend the dreaded guy.
Not sure if the other guy has a Myspace or not.
Oh and if you liked to help the guys here's another link Help Zeb and Sean
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070208/...icious_devices
ATHF is not made for 98% of the people who heard about this incident. The remaining 2% could even be a stretch considering the mediocre current season.
Anyway, it's not like Turner meant to pay $2 million for this advertising.
Wow. National Lampoon actually did something semi-funny after 1978. Good for them.
That's the shit.
Brilliant.
From CNN- Headline:
The head of Cartoon Network, Jim Samples, has submitted his resignation in the wake of the Boston bomb scare sparked by an advertising campaign.
Boston sucks.
Srsly. If that's true, I have even less respect for the Cartoon Network. I didn't have much to begin with...
Pussy.
Not only is there not a single testicle in all of Cartoon Network, apparently it's on the verge of becoming a giant hairy balls black hole, with a gravitational force ripping away any trace of manhood from anyone working there. Scary and pathetic.
James
It's probably one of those things where they told him he could either resign or be fired.
That makes it no less a case of faggotry.
Wow. NOBODY at CN seems to realize they did nothing wrong? They're just laying down and taking it, fines and resignations and all?
Pussies.
No joke.
I really think CN should have just cut all transmissions to Boston.
Fuck those motherfuckers.
Dude, Grave's already not getting medicine or advertisements. Give his city a break.
Grave, you should go visit my brother and my old boss. They live in that city.
I think the people who incited panic are not Turner or those who placed the signs, but rather some dumbfuck politicians and scumball tabloid-in-disguise media. Some older politicians are poster children for forced retirement. A politician's experience doesn't mean jack if he's an out-of-touch Luddite geezer.
Jim Samples should not have quit over this. He should've manned up and stood his ground. Stevens & Berdovsky should sue for wrongful and/or malicious prosecution, at least asking for $2,000,000 or more total.
Not good enough. Turner should cut all of its transmissions to Boston.Quote:
