Who Here Has Ever Left TNL In Disgust/Boredom/Addiction Control/Etc.?

I've been here since before GameGo. I remember when there were only like 10 threads on the entire board, and the posts came once every several days. That seems like 10 years ago. Now that I think about it, it almost was.

I tend to come and go a bit, but it's mostly a seasonal thing, it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with TNL itself. During the winter, I play a lot of games and as such I visit TNL a lot to talk about it and read thread news.

In the summer, I shift to my other hobby-working on my cars. I may go months without playing a non-portable game, and I end up spending most of my time on rx7club.com researching instead of being on TNL. The sound off forum here and the off-topic forum there are almost identical in content, except that TNL guys are generally smarter and funnier.

I think the reason this site doesn't get a lot of new blood is the fact the whole site is like one big "in" joke at times. You can pretty much count all the members that joined and stayed in the past 2 years on one hand. I guess you guys do slam on newbies pretty hard, but I never got hazed much. I mean who was that ass who joined at the same time as me,Gaming gandolf? Now you guys tore him apart, not that I think you were wrong of course, he was an idiot. I did have a hell of time just figuring out what a lot of you were talking about though.

Since JesusC told me about this site a little uner a year ago I have enjoyed posting and lurking a lot. But I can easily see how most newbies would be scarred off. But for me it's just nice to post on a site where one group of fanboys doesn't hold sway over everybody, or is just generally filled with idiots. I've been to a lot of boards and TNL is hands down the best, the trolling, while abundant doesn't change that.

I joined a few years back when Mzo came into the EBGames I use to work in and told me about the place (Or did he tell me about the GameGo! boards? I don't remember).
My habits for visiting here are off and on.
Sometimes I really like lurking around the boards, other times I feel like I'm wasting my time. I do like TNL a lot more since I've discovered RSS readers and how to use them (Which is why I sometimes post in other threads now. Usually I'd just go straight to Gaming Discussion).

I've done it a times or two before, but I always comes back. I usually prefer to lurk because by the time I get to a topic, what I want to say has usually already been said.

I've definitely "matured" a bit since I started posting here.

Save for the front page, Bahn's site is too much of a pussy haven that doesn't have anything even remotely interesting going on. I really think he should come back full time and use his work to give TNL an update.

Been here for a while.I think it was from lurking on GameGo!.

I dont get tired of the trolls or any of the personalities here with the exception of a few of them that Im sure Ive made posts about in FC. My posting and the amount I browse here doesnt have anything to do with the environment around TNL. Just how I happen to feel at that day in time, what Im busy with , etc. Like others have said, Ill be around for a while Im sure. No reason to leave with so much good info, so many good people, and some funny shit that seems to be posted up on a frequent basis.

Yeah I never really was a big poster, but this board just feels natural, and the rest of the internet bores me. After 5 or so odd years, even most of the trolling and hate seems like an ebb and flow that the board has gotten used to. You can either swim with the flow like most people do, and at that time it is pretty easy to understand the real comments and fake comments.

I don't think I contribute too much of a personality to this place, but I've been here since I found out about GameGO! which was I think right when everyone from that forum moved here.

I like it here. I might be in the minority in that I actually prefer the non-catchphrase-saturated threads here. TNL has a distinct asshole-y personality I think, which is funny and informal sometimes, but there are some posters here that are just tiresome. The gimmicks get tiresome. It's been worse than it is now.

I don't feel that this is a particularly bad time for the board though, just maybe a somewhat uneventful one. I know a lot of my favorite posters have moved on (off the top of my head Green, Ichabod, 2D...um I really forget most of them). There are still a lot of funny, talented, and knowledgeable people here though. IMO. The fact is, I come here way too often. I don't even play videogames that much anymore, but the community here is so small and tight-knit I come here for my videogame news even though there are obviously better and more thorough places to get it. It's stupid sometimes, but TNL is like a home away from home full of internet people I don't really actually know. Thanks Nick.
