Thanks. I think I originally posted, but changed, that on one hand you dont want blown out anything in pictures, but on the other hand the blown ut sky looks interesting in the middle of these dark clouds. Attempting to crop makes it just lose much of its feel, so it is blown out sky or nothing.Quote:

I took these awhile back, but still good photo's in my opinion. I usually shoot
my pictures in HD but the older ones are still HighRes but just not Widescreen

Yeah, it all just comes down to personal preference. I am working on some pictures now in PS Raw that I took this afternoon that i will post up a little later. Other than just the basics in Raw, i don't think they really need any other added style. Again, depends on your own taste. I couldn't stand it before. I mean I liked it, but I couldn't help but feel it was missing something, which is something I had heard a lot about it before. Now I feel the vignette helps to focus in on the the subjects (the man and his bike). Feels complete to me now. i like it a lot. i think your subjects have enough color to stand out fine on their own, and i like the yellow and blue subjects on the green background.

I've been working on a website for this stuff but I've fallen behind on the technique. There's a lot of cool shit that I see around the tubes and it would seem easy to implement it but damn if this stuff ain't as easy to learn as it used to be. CSS in PHP files? Where the fuck have I been?
(All taken with my Nikon D90 on either 18-55mm or 55-200mm lenses. Levels/tones/color saturation/whatnot done in Lightroom and/or Photoshop)

I'd love to go back and reshoot these with my current camera and slightly better technique. And a tripod.
I wanted to try an HDR photo for the first time and got a chance this weekend at a rental house on Vashon Island in Washington.
I took fifteen different frames of varying exposure, three of them included here. If you're not familiar with HDR, it basically lets you capture detail that gets lost in high light contrasts. As you can see in the 1,2,3 photos, a normal photograph captures detail either for the indoor environment or for the outdoor environment, but not for both because the amount of light is so different between the two environments. HDR lets you combine the details of multiple exposure levels into one photograph.
The photos usually come out a bit artificial looking, though I tried to keep it to a minimum. I got some funkiness on the edges of the couch and windows, I think due to slight nudges of the camera between frames. But overall, I'm pretty happy with the result and hope to be able to use it for more interesting subjects in the future.

NYC trip I just got back from...
#1 is soooo hot.
Right now i am experimenting with double digit, and gigapixel image sizes, with SeaDragon Deep Zoom and also Google Maps API, not sure which one will work better i am playing with both.
From the looks of it, the 8756 images i wanted to use for this deepzoom may be more then my poor little core2duo can handle, so this may not fully happen.

Anyone use plastic diffusers like sto-fens? I also plan on making my own bounce card. Exactly the same like www.ultimatebouncecard.com without being ripped off.
Just got my Tamron 18-200mm for my Nikon D70s and SB-600. Flash makes a big difference.

More images with the new lens and flash
I use a white card with the flash pointed up everywhere. Ive done diffusers, and globes, ect, and nothings easier and more versatile then the card. I use less power to create better exposures then i did with globes.
I plan on making my own www.ultimatebouncecard.com. I got the foam sheets and adhesive to attach it all. Just waiting for my velcro straps to arrive.
Had my first real chance to play around with the new camera at the zoo yesterday.
Tried a bunch of different settings, focal points and lighting. I thought these are some of the better shots, I still need lots of practice. What do you photo gurus think?

I pretty much felt that she hated me and was thinking "fuck this white mother fucker." there was another great opportunity to get a similar shot, but I couldn't bring myself to take the picture. On the one hand I am glad I didn't, but on other it would have been an amazing shot. For anyone that works with RAW files, have you given any though to DNG? I signed up for a photography class next semester so I would have enough hours to be a full time student, and looking at some info on the class, it mentions using the digital negative file format. I hadn't really given it much thought before, but decided to look into it. I don't plan on getting rid of my original RAW files, but am thinking about archiving all my original RAW files as DNG.

Not too bad, but they could have been better. Getting the shots in focus are the hardest part. The lighting was pretty constant, so just setting it on the tripod and then using a remote to keep the shutter open till a bolt strikes was pretty easy. Unfortunately, the next night there was no good lightning, so I wasn't able to try again and perfect the technique.Quote:
