I don't wash my hair as often as others because I have really dry hair and it gets unmanageable when recently washed. That doesn't mean I never wash the shit. Why? Because it starts to smell bad and look gross. This article smells of hippie.

I'm gonna' go out on a limb and BTN. Any product that tells me it's nourishing dead strands of protien with guava gel and exotic mango extracts is already swimming in BS. Food goes in your head, not on it.

Anyway, I have no hard water problems here in sunny Delaware, so I'ma gonna' try this soap thing and report results in a few weeks.

fuck it, me too. and i have whackdonculous hair so if i can pull it off anyone can.

actually, i already stopped washing my hair every day (now it's every other day) and it looks better on the off days. doubt i could pull this off in the summer. most people are dry in the winter and oily in the summer.

in fact, i only use all this hair shit because my gf buys it and it's there.

IBTN. Some of that I've known for a while. I didn't know the bit about soap being better though. Anyone ever wash their hair with fresh rain water? I do this at my family's cabin (no running water). We collect the rain and use that for washing. My hair is never as nice as it is after using the rain water, even with my gf's Bumble and Bumble junk.

I am supremely grossed out if I don't wash my hair at least every second or third day. It feels gross, and then I start to get a lot of skin issues around my hairline pretty badly.

I skip a single shampoo and my hair gets oily and itchy as hell. Plus, the shampoo I use strips the product I use out and helps to straighten my hair making it easier to style. I'm very gay about my hair.

I wash my hair every day with generic shampoo + conditioner in one. If I don't wash my hair it feels nappy and gross. I don't buy designer shampoo though because I'm not a metrosexual.

Its saying that shampoo is bad because it cleans out the oil? I always looked at that as a good thing. Hair is constantly producing oils so if you don't clean that shit regularily it becomes gross.

"Soap was better suited to washing hair, because it didn't remove so much of the oils that are naturally in hair."

So basically soap sucks. I want the oil taken out, the reason hair is so nice after shampooing is because it doesn't have the oil in it, the grease weighs it down and makes it clump.

And besides, you'll naturally produce the oil you need after shampooing, its not like you're going to run out.

I was always told that shampooing your hair every day will damage it in the long run. I only shampoo once a week, because no matter what brand of shampoo and conditioner I use it always drys the shit out of my hair, and it gets all brittle and shitty.

Not mine, it feels soft and silky. I don't use any products in my hair besides FrizzEase so it doesn't get any build up.

Hair grease/oil. Otherwise my hair gets brittle and isn't easy to comb. Also, my scalp gets exceptionally dry.

Your hair has oil in it for a reason. If you wash it too often it can become dry and brittle. Hair has been around a lot longer than shampoo.

I wash my hair every day with whatever's in the stall at the time. You can also use bar soap to wash your hair if you're desperate, but that's pretty low. My hair gets greasy if I don't wash it for two days.

I look sexy either way so the ladies don't mind.

(And yes, I realize the article says "use soap on your head, not shampoo" but there are plenty of anti-soap people out there as well)

I've made my own shampoo and shower gel before.
It's the same shit for the most part, detergent and glycerin.
Dish soap is pretty similar too.
