I think by showing Jack's dad in the cabin, they are implying that Jacob and the smoke monster are one and the same. We know that the smoke monster can take the form of the dead like it did when it stole Eko's brother Yemi's corpse from the biplane and then subsequently took Yemi's form before the smoke monster killed Eko.

What other corpse is supposed to be on the island but vanished? Jack's dad. Then Jack's Dad appears in the cabin when last season, we saw a flash of Jacob in a different form. It's also interesting that in the second episode of this season, Locke asks Ben what the smoke monster is, when the episode before that, Locke is clearly in the cabin talking to Jacob. Maybe that conversation sparked the question when he realized what Jacob is.

The eye that spooked Hurley after he saw the specter of Christian Shepherd? That wasn't Locke, it was a new character we haven't been properly introduced to yet.

Are you sure about that? My understanding is that people compared that eye with several Locke eyes and confirmed it was indeed him. Anyway, Locke did appear seemingly out of nowhere when Hurley fell over so there is still some possibility he did find the cabin as well.

It cant be Locke's eye in the cabin for the one and simple reason, Locke is lost with the whereabouts of the Cabin, and just cant find it. Which driving him angry, and at which Ben is keeps on playing on.

Hmm, never saw it that way. Then maybe Jacob is the eye and Jack's Dad is the smoke monster? It has to be close to this imo, maybe not exactly as I put it, but there has to be some sort of relationship.
