Participation

Level 1 (0 – 4,999 annual Gamerscore): You are developing your skills and gaining experience. Take some time to get used to the program and learn your way around. The Challenges will typically be easier and the rewards smaller.
Level 2 (5,000 – 9,999 annual Gamerscore): We are going to turn up the heat a bit. You have proved that you know how to play and are willing to put in the gaming time to reap the benefits. The Challenges will get a bit more difficult. Never fear, the reward value goes up as well.
Level 3 (over 10,000 annual Gamerscore): This is an arena filled with the who's who of gaming. We don't want to claim that Level 3 is an exclusive club, but if you find yourself winning Challenges here, you've obviously pulled out the big guns, so enjoy while it lasts.
Xbox Rewards is not a hall of fame, and there are no honorary life members. In order to maintain your Rewards Level, you have to continue to play on top. Rewards Levels are based on how many Gamerscore you gain each calendar year.

Xbox Rewards Challenge 1: Old Spice Experience Challenge
Old Spice is teaming with Xbox on the first Xbox Rewards Challenge to prove that Experience is Everything. Starting February 12, you will be challenged to increase your Gamerscore by 1,500 or more before April 12. Successfully complete the Challenge and get a Rewards Package*, and Old Spice will give you the gift of experience—all Level 1 and 2 participants will receive a level upgrade for 2007.

Ready to get your Rewards Package? The first step is to register for Xbox Rewards and join the Old Spice Experience Challenge. Then, it's up to you to complete the task within the time limit. You can't register until February 12. Some of the rewards within the Rewards Package are limited in quantity, and will be distributed to those who complete the challenge the fastest, so be quick about it.

The Rewards Packages listed below are unique to the Old Spice Experience Challenge. Each new Challenge will bring new rewards.

Xbox Rewards is not just about playing online and racking up your Gamerscore—you don't even have to be an Xbox Live member to participate and score some great rewards. I think this deserves its own thread to track our progress and for Melf to bitch that it's for the 50 US States and DC only.

I guess we have to wait until the site is updated to sign up. I hope I have qualifying games. I bet you MS will make sure all the easy peasy 1000 gamerscore games will not be allowed (King Kong, Fight Night..etc). In fact watch them put games like Crackdown on the list and other coming soon games.

This particular challenge is just 1,500 points regardless of game. It sounds like future challenged may be more specific.

I'm down for the OSC. I cleared out all my reading assignments and exams over the weekend so I can toss together 1500 today.

But, sign-up doesn't seem to be up yet. Grr...

The rewards sign in page is up now but I can't get through. Must be getting hammered big time.

Lots of issues signing up. The servers are getting beyond hammered but I did register and got to the point where I could sign up and it went through. After registration you have to join the challenge and that was a pain to get through as well. I managed to do it ...I think. The Join Challenge button is grayed out even though I had an error. The following screen is what I got after joining so I guess I'm good to go.

I finally got signed up, but I still can't bring up the page which "shows" the challenge like Raystorm did. I'm not sure whether to go rack up the points or see the page first to confirm I'm in.

I signed up fine using Dipstick's advice.

1. From the main page, click the green "sign in" button.
2. On the next page, click the green button that says "register now" on the bottom of the left-hand side. Do not use the fields on the right side of the page to sign in.
3. The next page will have a link to sign in. Use it and follow the remaining steps.

The registration should go through fine from there.

The MS retail site had a similar quirk back when I used it, IIRC.

I was planning on ignoring Joust's inevitable Nintendo bile, and now the plan is in motion.

I just got home with Fight Night. I'm at 220/1500 so far. I'm hoping to be at 1220 before I go to bed.

For Spo's benefit, the 10,000+ reward is actually over $60, and I would be playing the games with or without it, so it's pennies from heaven.

This is working out quite well. I bought Fight Night 3 when Best Buy had it on sale last month. I already own Contra on the 360, but you get a free bump up to level 2 for the next competition for your 1500 points - and I was going to beat FN3 anyway, of course - so I'm in. Assuming I can ever get the site to load properly.

If your points from the previous "calendar year" are used, does that mean that Yoshi's 20,000 points earned in 2006 won't count next year?

The Xbox Rewards program remains deadlocked today, following yesterday's launch, which apparently drew more prospective registrants than anticipated. I'm finished... I think. The site is as unresponsive as a dead loli, but I did get a display showing that I 'won' all of the prizes (some Rewards are only available on a first come, first serve basis, while supplies last blah blah die in a fire).

Crappy bootleg clones of popular puzzle games don't count. I can play shitty flash games in my web browser for free. To say some of those "must owns" are stretching it is a gross understatement.

Is there a way to check progress that has been counted? I am concerned as to whether I am getting credit or not.

Done. 1500+ in.. I forget how many hours. Clicked the page to say I'm finished.. it told me I was 180 short. Stupid MS server glitch (login stats are always behind ~30mins the realtime stats, yet they can display the RT stats perfectly fine on the main profile. go figure). 30mins later it says I'm fine, I sign off as finished, I'm told I get the rewards, and... runtime server error when it goes to display them. Yeesh..

I'm getting some sleep. And King Kong sucks ass!

Piece of shit didn't take my registration yesterday, so I lost 320 points. This is a great example of how not to implement something.

MyGamerCard.net has implemented a set of pages tracking progress towards rewards.

The scarcity of prizes is greatly exaggerated. Only 335 people have qualified at this point (286 of them qualifying for the level 3 prize), and these numbers are inflated because they include any player that could have qualified (including those who may have and didn't sign up).

This site is starting to really piss me off. I registered before the hooplah and the site was taken down. Now, when I sign in, it takes me to the registration form again no matter what I do. Then, if i click submit registration, it thanks me and sends me back to the registration form again.

...this is barely even worth it.

The site is up and running again. Seems more stable this time, though "confirming" (submitting registration yet again) my address for the shirt and game doesn't seem to remove the button asking you to confirm the info.

I finally got into the actual rewards page today. I have been registered for a couple of days now but the server was always down each time I tried to log on to check my status. It shows that there are plenty of rewards left at my level. Time to play some Kong!

I went and checked for the hell of it, to see if I could register. I put all my information in truthfully (that I live in Puerto Rico), and it accepted me without any problems. According to the site, it seems like I'm eligible...

...unless I go and get 1500 points only to get a "sorry foreigner!" message. :p

On another note I finished the challenge, it shows that I won all of the rewards at my level, but says that token codes are unavailable at this time. All done and no goods. WTF! I really hope they have the next challenge set up better than this one.

Did you try looking for the redeem code to get the ship? There's no limit on those, and if you're at Level 3 already, you're entitled to get that gamer pic.
