PS2 Import Recommendations?

I've searched through the forums and have been unable to come up with a topic similar to this. I've had my Japanese PS2 for quite some time, and the only thing I've really ever used it for is to import games before they come out here. I think there's probably some stuff I'm missing out on. I haven't really heard a whole lot about Japanese-only games, besides Psyriavar. I do remember hearing something about a really good table tennis game, though, anyone know anything about this? Do you guys have any PS2 import-only recommendations? Thanks.

um, Psyvariar and the sequel coming out in July (forgot the name, its available for pre order at NCSX)...im contemplating getting a Japanese PS2 just for those two releases if no domestic announcement is made in the next two months...besides i got a ton of PS1 imports with no home that will be playable on the JPS2. dont forget those. lots of good shooters. Donpachi on PS is smoother than its Saturn cousin, interesting.

It's OK. The first game is a fav of mine but the second just seemed lackluster. The cool graffiti style art is replaced by cut-out animated characters and polygon backdrops, many of which are very simple looking. I found alot of the photo ops to rather mundane too. I can say the control was quite good on a dual shock.

Night Raid, thats the game i was thinking of, im just going on what i read at NCSX in regards to being a sequel to Psyvariar, does it suck?

It's a Taito import that sounds very interesting. A simple RPG where you draw characters and the game models them in 3-D. Wish someone could post some impressions. *-neo

Super Robot Taisen IMPACT is particularly excellent. Especially, if you're into games like Final Fantasy Tactics and Ogre Battle.

Atelier Lilie, third in the series but actually a prequel to Atelier Marie and Ellie is supposed to be pretty good, if your into complex and text-heavy, yet rewarding Japanese RPGs. This doesn't seem likely to see a U.S. release.

Then there's Black Matrix 2, which just came out and I haven't heard anything about, but if it anything like the first one, its great FFT or Tactics Ogre-style strategy/RPG-ing with some really nice character designs.

Not sure if this one'll see the light of day here either, Black Matrix A/D was supposed to be localized for DC WAY back in 2000 but Sega shot it down. It was being translated by the same company that did Seventh Cross: Evolution and this other DC game. Ironically, it blew those two turds out of the water and IT was the one that didn't see a domestic release. Gotta love bitter irony :(

The game you are thinking of is developed by Psikyo, of all people. I don't know what the romanized name is, but here's a link. I'd like to try this one myself.

It's not really like any of the rest of the series in some ways... I haven't replayed it, if that says anything.

And I think the presence of the secret character Zero is the reason why the other B/M titles haven't come out here...

No way. I could MAYBE see Gundam coming out here, but the arcade game wasn't released here. But Winning Eleven 5 or 6 released in America? Get the hell out. There is no way some company would release this game here. Europe, maybe. USA? Nah. It would be incredible if it did so people wouldn't have to put up with the yearly FIFA shite and enjoy a true football sim. I already have my import copy and to make it even better, a patched copy of Rhapsody's translated WE6. 100% English. Best football game ever.

MS Gundam: Federation Vs Zeon is coming to the US, I've heard anywhere between July and October. What I've played of the DC version I recommend the game highly.

And Kabuki, that would be very cool Raguki comes out. *-neo

I read on some website that Akira Psychoball was put on "indefinite hold" for a US release :(

Import PS2 games that I recommend:

The Gran Turismo Concept series...the 2002 one is coming out soon
Akira Psychoball (if it doesn't get released here)
Ministry of Sound music/game (it's PAL format though)
I guess any shooters....how many are there so far anyway?

The Gundam game is almost a guarantee (there have been a few PSone and PS2 Gundam games released Stateside lately).

Winning Eleven 6... maybe I should have put is as a "maybe" and not a "should" :) Is the game a straight-up futbol game or is it like RPG soccer - i.e. why has the series never made it to the US ?? I don't play sports games very much at all, so I have no idea on this one...

Hmm good import PS2 games...Atelier Lilie is good (albeit text heavy for the Japanese-illterate), and the sequel(Atelier Judie) should be coming out soon. Surveillance and Scandal also seem interesting even though they are supposed to be short.
